How did you guys actually get your first buy-side job?

I’m trying to understand how people actually break into the buy-side because every job posting seems to want someone who already has experience in the industry lol.

For people currently in PE, HF, AM, VC, etc., what was your path like? Did you start in IB or ER, get an internship, network your way in, or just apply until something worked?

Also curious if things like CFA or having really good technical skills actually made a difference for you, or if networking was more important.

Just trying to get a realistic idea of what actually works instead of the usual “network and get relevant experience” advice.

Leon doesn't even look up from his tactical knife, just asks Gojo if Unlimited Void can open a rusted padlocked iron door or if he needs a bolt cutter. The bot had Gojo drop his hands and ask why American cops are so obsessed with heavy hardware.

What’s your take on the squishy trend in the Philippines?

I feel like squishies are becoming the new “budol” item here in the Philippines.
Every time I scroll TikTok or Shopee Live, someone’s selling bundles, blind boxes, or “rare” designs. People end up with way more than they need just for the thrill of collecting or unboxing.

I tried buying one before and yeah, it’s satisfying, but after a while it just sits there. Meanwhile, I see others especially on TikTok doing “Squish hauls.”

Not judging anyone, but it feels like the hype is less about the product and more about the dopamine rush of buying something trendy.

Curious what others think.

Ok so yesterday I went to my local five below,, and I only saw sanrio mystery toys.

(I never buy them because I get very disappointed if I don’t get pompom lol)

But today I went to a five below in New Jersey!
There were so much Sanrio stuff, I only managed to find this pompompurin plush.

I’ve seen other people have it before, but I could never see it myself. Or maybe I wasn’t looking hard enough 🥲

But now I have one, so cute!!!! I like this ice cream theme, now they’ve got me wondering if there’s an ice cream themed pompompurin.. 🤐 definitely on the lookout
