Naps?

Anyone else's bird insist on a daily nap? As in "put me in my cage and cover me up"? My rescue yna is a huge fan. Around 1-2pm he'll insist on going to his cage in his room, snooze for a couple hours, wake up, eat, play, and go back to bed for the night. Sometimes the gcc will decide to join him, but in his own cage.

Shit mayday help

I'm trying to work on a beading project. He flew down to check out the forbidden seeds. The offer I was given was to let him have his forbidden glass feast or I hold him like an ice cream cone. Now he's asleep. Dammit. What now?

Beaded succulents

Working on the Terrarium from Beaded Origami. I've had this in progress for a couple years now. I pick it up, do a few, and put it away again. But now I'm apparently in "nah, we bout to finish this shit" mode so I'm up to 50. 40 more to go! Feeling flaky, might start a new project later. Honk if you can relate 😂

Tried a new beading needle and I think I've found something better than John James

First, I am not affiliated with this company at all and I know I'd want this info as a beader so I'm sharing it here.

I've been beading for 30 something years in some capacity. In that time I've tried soooo many beading needle brands and types. Eventually, JJ needles were all I would buy.

Well, I needed more size 11s bc my last two looked like they lost a fight and I could not find them for less than 19 USD per pack of 25. Uh, lol, no. So in frustration I bought a pack of 60 from some company on Amazon for 9 bucks. I figured they'd break and bend like crazy but whatever, with 60 of them I'd make it work.

These needles are super high quality, less prone to bending, have a bigger eye, and still fit through 15/0s with multiple thread passes. I'm won over. Wish they made 13s too!

The company is Voneedl and needles are all they do. Hope this helps someone!

Veil of Lysara (pattern from: Shrii Designs)

I can't follow a pattern as written to save my life so I made a few changes. I'm very happy with how this came out. Redoing the bezels was the right call.

Which arrangement?

Lysara components are all done. I can't follow a pattern as written so I made some changes which gives me a couple options for assembly but I'm having trouble deciding between these two.

Lysara redone

Got the bezels apart and remade, this time with appropriate reinforcements and a slight pattern addition that I felt made the picots cleaner. After I get the focaccia dough prepped, I'll get started on assembly!

Butterscotch chip cookies with pecans

Sorry for the lack of recipe but I just used my standard chocolate chip cookie recipe.

They are DIVINE.

I've been frozen on this decision for hours. These are beaded bezels for a necklace, bracelet, and earring set I'm working on. (Veil of Lysara by Shrii Designs) I reinforced all my thread paths through the bicones except in one step that is crucial to the structure. Bicones cut thread like crazy for those who don't know and I realized my mistake when the connection failed on the first bezel I was preparing for attachment.

I can repair it, but literally every single bezel has this weak point. So that means repairing it and failures occur, if they do, or taking it all apart and redoing it. I wouldn't be too pissed to have to do this. Honestly sorting all the beads once they're all apart is the biggest pain in the ass here, but I'd lose all that beading time and I have other projects I want to get to. I'm afraid if I take it all apart I'll be sick of it halfway through and won't finish for 3 years.

I fully know and understand the importance of nose breathing, however, I am blessed with nonallergic rhinitis which means my nose runs all the time. I literally have tissues stashed like a squirrel stashes nuts. Think water, not snot, because it's that consistency and color. I'm not congested, there's nothing to "blow" out.

Nose breathing through cardio has always been a challenge bc of this. When I was cycling regularly, I once rode through a spider web and the resident ended up in my mouth at the back of my throat. I coughed her out like a cartoon character and kept riding.

Anyway, my point is that nose breathing is an issue bc of my constantly drippy nose. I've tried every steroid medication out there. They work to varying degrees for a limited time but none of them stop it completely.

Anyone else deal with this?

This is a pattern by Shrii Designs (love her stuff!). I took a class yesterday and I am head over heels with how this looks already 😍

I'm taking a zoom class from Shrii Designs today to make her Veil of Lysara necklace (2nd pic) and I'm really looking forward to it. I've made several of her designs but this is the first class I've taken with her. Anyone else love zoom classes for beading?

Went for my first rum/walk this morning. Idk if a 16 min mile is ok or not. I would like to know how the hell my interval timer managed to tell me to run on an incline every time but the fact no one asked me if I was ok bc they couldn't tell I was doing it on purpose is a plus 😂

I'm 52 and for the majority of my life I was morbidly obese. I began turning it around in my 30s but it's been a very slow process. I could stand to lose another 30 lbs but I'm not terribly bothered by it at this point in time.

I've never been athletic but I do hike and weight train. I used to cycle 25 miles daily but had to give it up bc of knee issues about 5 years ago but I've also lost about 70 lbs since then and my knee strength and stability are much better.

So I've decided to take up running bc I need some regular cardio. This is insanity, right? I should just get my bike back out and try that again or hike harder, yes? Talk this crazy bat off the ledge before I go drop $$ on a pair of shoes at the local running shop and do my best impression of a manatee given legs 😂

Google lens says it's stinging nettle but I'm not sure that's right bc I just planted this blackberry root about a month ago so I'm hoping these are blackberry canes. Can anyone confirm or deny? Thank you!
