Text boxes cut off in Age of Empires 2

Text boxes cut off in Age of Empires 2

Hi! I'm using Wine to play Age of Empires 2 with the conquerors expansion (the original, not HD or Definitive Edition). Most things run smoothly (I've played over 10 hours now). There's just one really annoying thing, which is that some text boxes are cut off. As you can see in the attached picture, I can't see how many idle villagers etc I have, because the text box is too far to the right in its box and the numbers don't show.

Some text boxes are fine (like the "You are being attacked..." and timer at the top). The text boxes that are affected by this issue seem to be the info ones in the bottom corners, as well as the dialogue text from the campaign.

I assumed this would be better to ask in a Wine subreddit, since I think it's caused by Wine and not the original game. I've trawled old forums and not found anyone who had this same issue.

Save time doesn't match system time

Hi! I have a fat PS2 with a working CMOS battery (I replaced it a couple weeks ago). The time is set correctly in System Configuration. Timestamps on saves have been working fine as far as I could tell until today, when I saved in Katamari Damacy (via OPL on a HDD) and the time was 11 hours in the future. Then I saved again and time had gone by, but it was still off by 11 hours. I exited the game, checked my system config again, and the time is correct in the system config, including my time zone. But weirdly enough in wLaunchELF I had moved some cover art, and this also has the wrong time stamp (also 11 hours forward).

Is this a FreeMCBoot issue / OPL issue? I'm wondering what is up with the 11 hours... I thought maybe it's displaying UTC, but I'm on GMT -5 (it's summer time right now so UTC-4). Interestingly Japan seems to be 11 hours ahead of me, is Katamari set to display Japan time somehow?

How to access LCD cable on galp5

Hi! I have a Galago Pro 5 whose display flickers at most viewing angles. It's honestly a little finicky, sometimes it works fine and sometimes it doesn't. I reached out to support and they said it's an LCD cable problem, and gave me a link to order a new one. I thought before ordering a new part, I might as well open it up to see whether it's actually broken. (I had the same issue with an old Thinkpad, and just unplugging and replugging in the display cable fixed the problem.)

However I can't find any documentation anywhere regarding how to access this LCD cable. I took apart the back cover and found the part plugged into the motherboard. That looks like it's seated in fine and everything. How do I access the other end of the cable (that plugs into the display).

This is something I'd need to figure out if I want to order the part from System76 and replace the flex cable anyway, but it wasn't in their repair guide (https://system76.com/tech-docs/models/galp5/repairs).

GBA SP won't turn on after turning off

Hi, there are a couple of posts about this already, but they seem to be for the non-SP models, which have an R13 resistor that the SP model doesn't have.

I tried to remove the power switch on a AGS-101 to clean it, but after making a bit of a mess of the soldering, I decided to give up and add a bit of solder back on to reattach it (well it never really came off). The problem is my shoddy desolder/solder job seems to have made some difference to the board, since now the SP doesn't turn on again within about 20 seconds of turning off.

I read this could be because the capacitors still have charge in them, and this can be caused by a certain R13 resistor falling off. But the SP model doesn't have this resistor as far as I can tell, at least near to the OFF switch like on the non SPs.

Would anyone know what is the equivalent issue with the SPs that can cause this same behaviour? Maybe I created some kind of short circuit somewhere? (I am very new to soldering and electronics in general so it really could be anything that I messed up, but I only did soldering near the on/off switch, so it should be a localised problem.)

Thanks in advance!

Section G of rent (41% increase)

Hi! I'm moving to a new place soon and the rent will be 1450. (Well it's a bit more but that's because my roommate and I asked for appliances, 1450 was what the rent was before appliances.)

When signing the lease, I noticed that for the number filled in section G (the previous rent) by the landlord was 1030, so the rent would be going up nearly 41%. Is that normal? I didn't see what the place was like before but there were a lot of renovations going on when we visited. I've never moved directly into a newly renovated apartment so maybe this kind of increase is acceptable/typical for a renovated apartment? Maybe the 1030 was just a previous tenant that hadn't moved in like 10 years? I don't really know what to make of that number.

In the column on the right it says something about having 10 days to ask the TAL to fix the rent, but I'm a bit averse to getting the TAL involved as I heard it can make it hard to find a rental in future. And anyway, honestly 1450 for a 4 1/2 is a normal-ish price right now in the area (edge of Mile End) so it feels a bit scummy for me to "fight" this price now that I've seen the 1030, when I thought it was fair earlier. But still I wanted to get a sense of what other renters thought about this!

Is it worth at least asking the landlord to see how they calculated the rent increase? I wonder how much they must have spent on this reno to justify the $420. I don't want to create undue conflict with a new landlord but also don't want to totally get screwed over! (Also once the rent goes up it rarely ever goes down so this has some impact on future renters as well I guess.)

By the way je parle français aussi, c'est juste plus facile pour moi d'écrire en anglais!
