About that Friday 7/3/26 Rancho Cordova collision at the SacRT Gold Line

Just saw this today. Everything's OK now, it was taken care of Friday night.

SacRT on their Facebook page reported that this was caused by a pickup truck driver deciding to go around downed crossing guard arms. The pickup truck was struck by a Gold Line train heading towards Downtown.

Somewhere during Friday's discussion on r/Sacramento, it was mentioned how the wait seems so long for a train to pass through that others have been seen copying this driver's actions. Because there are 2 tracks here, a vehicle could be struck by 2 consecutive trains in opposite directions.

Not worth it to all involved, including the train operator(s), passengers, people nearby and original driver too.

EDIT: Found a report done by FOX40 about this, how the pickup truck got pinned by Kilgore Dr and the driver was taken to a trauma center,

SacRT Free Ride Flyer for Saturday 7/4/26 Rancho Cordova Celebration

SacRT has a free ride flyer effective today 7/4/26 starting 2PM until end of service valid on light rail and fixed-route buses. It's available to print or screenshot at the supplied link. It's to travel to/from the festivities at Hagan Park in Rancho Cordova.

Today's transit runs on a Sunday/Holiday schedule. A line here says Route 21 that's close to the park runs only until 8:46PM. So since the fireworks occur later, a different method is needed to return if staying late. (The Gold Line does run later, it's about a 20 - 30 minute walk to nearby stations, quicker with a bike or scooter.)

Pizza Hut Buffets and Physical Dine In Classic Locations -- Independence Day 2026

On 7/4/26 I was wondering after the recently announced sale of Pizza Hut by Yum brands, what's up with the Red & White?

So it blew me away to find out there are still some Pizza Hut Buffets and physical dine-in locations. When I dug into the thread 18 days ago about the sale, there was a bit of confusion. Some wanted these to return, others said they visit these effortlessly.

Turns out there are Buffets, and the Dine-In locations are called "Pizza Hut Classic."

To clarify if these exist where you are, here are 2 lists accessible this July 4, 2026. Not all 50 states have these. Still, you may get lucky.

(DISCLAIMER: Like anything online nowadays, let's hope these lists are accurate and up to date.)

Citrus Heights baby nursery destroyed by firework, juveniles facing arson charges

Some juvenile females were bullying another female. They escalated this by throwing lit fireworks into a bedroom in her home. A baby nursery was destroyed. The teens are charged with multiple crimes.

It's a really tragic moment to educate children on how dangerous fireworks are when mishandled by accident, or worse, on purpose.

Another report from ABC10 states this took place in a part of Citrus Heights west of I-80 south of Antelope Rd. Maybe you know the family or neighbors and can wish the expectant mother well.
