I wish some movies weren’t locked behind box sets

Vagabond’s one of my favorite movies but the only way to get the blu ray of it is through the Varda collection. If it was a separate release I’d totally be buying it this month. Need a separate release!

DC omnibuses on matte vs newsprint paper examples

Doing a follow up to my post from yesterday showing the difference between omnibuses printed on matte (first photo) vs newsprint (second pic).

The colors do look a lot richer on the matte paper while they look more true to the original comics on the newsprint pages. There’s more see through with the newsprint pages due to them being thinner. Matte doesn’t really have that issue.

Think it just comes down to preference with these reprints.

Both pics taken next to each other with no filters

Golden Age Batman would’ve been so much better if they let Dick Sprang take over the comic earlier

Dick Sprang’s mostly known for his art during the goofy era of the Silver Age, but he was still making great art during the Golden Age.

Reading through Golden Age Vol 3 I can’t help but notice the contrast in quality when he would take over drawing an issue compared to the other issues in the book. His sense of layout, color and line work was amazing. When other artists took over drawing a comic after him, it’s so noticeable how amateurish their artwork is compared to his.

Feel like we missed out on a lot more great artwork from him due to him not being given the reins of the comic

What the new Silver Age Supergirl omnibus looks like on new newsprint pages

Figured I’d take a photo of the inside pages of the new Supergirl omnibus to give an idea of what it looks like.

Other Silver Age books were printed on matte paper that gave the artwork colors that were richer, brighter or darker and really really popped depending on the coloring.

This new SA Supergirl edition is printed on newsprint pages that while still look amazing, give a much more muted tone to the colors. If the Action Comics cover on the right were printed on matte paper, I assume the yellow background would be a rich, bright yellow that really popped. Whereas it’s more muted here on newsprint.

Also the books feels way lighter in weight due to the switch to newsprint paper compared to matte so will take it easier on your shelving lol

Some people may not like the change to a different type of paper for the book, but I think it looks really good, just different. I assume though DC might be using this paper for future silver age editions. But maybe not

Is the price of the Silver Age Supergirl omnibus hard to justify when most of it is in the DC Finest book?

The DC Finest has Action Comics 252-288 plus numerous other appearances in other comics. The Silver Age omnibus just has Action Comics 252-307.

The Silver Age Supergirl book goes for $76 while the DC Finest goes for $25. Feels kinda hard to want to dish out cash for the Silver Age omnibus when it’s 3X the price unless you really want a complete run of the Action Comics

How big are the Taschen compact Marvel omnibuses in real life?

Description says 5.5 x 7.7 inches for the $25 compact version coming in July for their Silver Age line. Pretty hard to resist for $25 unless it’s super small. 5.5 x 7.7 seems really small but is it really? Hard to imagine what this would look like given the number of issues it would contain

This is pretty much every single home listing in America right now

Every home I look at has a price history like this. It’s always the last person bought in the late 2010s and now wants double for their house. And these are in kinda rural areas with barely any jobs around.

These houses went from I could totally swing that and have low payments to now I’m stuck paying above what rents are in the area and having to make mortgage payments for decades.

The dream was destroyed
