Library sale a few towns over -they only had Nora Roberts and Danielle Steel in the paper back section…I guess the rest are in here 🥲

My wonky little weight chart over the last 5ish weeks.
I’m about 3 months into my Tirz journey and I’m so excited I’ve responded well to it. Ive had so much success squashing the food noise that used to take up so much of my day!! (Snack work snack work snack work…)
With all of that said: Have I had wonderful progress on this drug? Yes. Definitely. Way better than I was able to do myself without dedicating every waking hour to exercise.
Does it PMO that every 4 weeks I get a 5-7 lbs spike in my weight without knowing if it’s my eating or if it’s just my body being my body? DEAR GOD YES 😩
But the reality check is also that I just feel so much more comfortable after losing 30 lbs since the start of my weight loss (before tirz) so the numbers matter less than how I am feeling any given day.
I don’t look at the lip balms a ton but these stuck out - I’m very interested in the hydrating one! Has anyone tried them?
Y’all may know that I am an audiobook Harlot - I have been renovating my house for the last 6 months and audiobooks have been carrying me through. (Add in two very noisy neighbors and I usually have an ear phone basically all day until I go to bed)
I made a couple of threads in the past asking for recommendations and Flowers from the Storm narrated by Nicholas Boulton was always in the comments. It got so many mentions/upvotes but my library didn’t have it and tbh- I didn’t know how I’d like listening to a male narrator.
Oh. My. God. First- Nicholas Boulton is perfect. Second - the story???? I am painting my dining room ceiling with tears falling down my face.
I’m actually glad I didn’t pick this up earlier bc it came at exactly the right time, but if anyone is on the fence about this story, go get it. 😭😭
Hi all. I know this is an odd question, but I’m on the spectrum and need help 😆
My mom has progressing dementia and a walking disability. Her world has become very small- since she can no longer drive, she’s completely reliant on my dad for her errands and her social life.
She still remembers big things, but things within the last 10-15 years are shaky, so I can’t ask a lot of her. She will call me 3-5 times a day and even though I am working, I try to talk to her when I can. The problem recently has been that we just kind of sit on the phone because neither of us have much to say, and since her world is so small, I want to keep her on the phone so she isn’t alone, but I just don’t have much to say myself (plus sometimes I have to continue to do my excel sheets while on the call so I don’t get fired, obvs)
We get the small talk done, I ask her about jeopardy and tv shows, but she doesn’t read or have many hobbies. she doesn’t ask me about anything except the next time I’m visiting (so I repeat this 3-5x a day, every day until my next visit - i usually visit 4x a year).
I live about 1000 miles away and I know eventually I’ll need to move back and help with her long term care. This has made my world a bit small too- My ex didn’t understand/couldn’t take it, so we broke up and I’ve kind of given up on dating for the next few years. Because of my job, my own disability, and bc I spend 1/4 of my year in another city it’s been really tough to create friendships here so I don’t really go out and I’ve given up a lot of my hobbies. (Not to mention sometimes she doesn’t remember I have a job, because I’m still in high school in her mind.). It makes even simple chit chat a bit depressing and difficult to keep interesting.
Do you all have any tips and tricks I can steal/borrow? I love my mom and feel bad her daughter cant even entertain her for 30 minutes a day. Edit: also does anyone have any ideas for crafts or hobbies she could get into? It can’t be anything physical like gardening and maybe not difficult to remember like crochet but is there something really simple maybe she pull eventually build up to muscle memory?
Beauties. I am not a skincare person. I have my tret, my moisturizer and my sunscreen. But when I tell you I am absolutely OBSESSED with these under eyes masks, I mean it. I stocked up. I should be fine. But I recently visited my sister overseas and brought 4 boxes and now my stash looks pretty sad. Only 2 stores in my town even carried these, but it seems like they’ve been out of stock since mid July. Is anyone else having trouble finding these or is my store just going through an extended drought?
I checked last week sometime and I *can* order them online but it looks like the gold and rose don’t come together :/ I don’t like the aloe (blue) so I’d rather not order 12 and only end up with six of the one I like 🥲 but thank you if anyone has insight or just wants to rave about these.
I actually left Devil in Winter because no step back, no embossing, and I already own it on kindle and audible. It wasn’t edited as much as Autumn and Summer so there was no huge benefit to having this specific physical copy, and it was $5. I hope I don’t regret it 😳
Ok all- does anyone have a suggestion for a pharmacy to work with that makes it easy to reschedule or reschedule deliveries- or at the very least sends out notifications before medicine is shipped?
As background, I have been on Tirz for 5 weeks and I used Big Easy. While the appointment was easy enough- though I wish the doctor has spent more than 2 minutes during my initial call- it’s been a bit of a headache after. So I’d like to switch to a pharmacy or some sort of provider that enables me to have a little more visibility into when my medicine is coming/how to reorder etc.
Sorry. Me again looking for recommendations.
My sister’s husband has 12 audible credits he is gifting me (he forgot he had premium audible and wants to cancel so his credits are my bday present, yay for me!!).
I bought a lot of the books recommended a few months ago when asking for audiobook narrators like MJW so now looking for books that make up your favorite re-listens!
I think I often relisten to the witty, funny, or light hearted books with 3/4 spice level. Based on recent listening, my favorites are Mary Jane Wells (ofc), Kate Reading, Holly Chandler, Susan Duerden, Zara Hampton Brown and Susan Erickson. Totally open to new narrators though!
My List so far:
Kleypas: Devil in Winter , Devil in Spring, Devils Daughter
Dare: Duchess Deal, Governess Game, Wallflower Wager
….and then I draw a blank. I’m debating some Hoyt but I’ve realized I like them better as books.
Already Own: the other Ravenels, Devil in Disguise (Kleypas), Difficult Dukes (Chase), Charlotte St series (Peckham), Flowers from the Storm and Seize the fire (Kinsale), lots of other Loretta Chase (Carsington Bros; scoundrels, the silk/velvet ones), and a few by Louisa Darling.
(Not to be negative but I cannot listen to Mary Sarah, Justine eyre, and Carmen rose. I’m eh on Anne Flosnik. Their cadence makes it too difficult for me to concentrate :(. I like Roslyn Landor a lot and she narrates a lot of my favorites but I tend to only listen to her books once). And I like mark meadows and
Thank you all so much!
So yes, I’m dumb and wasn’t looking at the tip screen in detail. I was getting my ears pierced and purchased gold jewelry from my piercer because I have very sensitive skin. When the tip screen was flipped around at the end, I selected 20%, expecting it to apply to the cost of the piercing/service ($150 for ear piercing, so a $30 tip).
Instead it applied a 20% tip on the cost of the jewelry + piercing, which was $935. I essentially tipped my piercer 110%. (She wasn’t the cashier so I didn’t even get a thank you 😭).
This was on Sunday so the transaction has cleared my credit card. Is there anything I can do aside from going back to the studio and asking for a tip back? I feel awkward and terrible but paying $400 for someone to pierce my ears is killing me a little. Thank you in advance!
I just signed up for audible (premium) this year so I’m not sure how common these sales are, but LOTS of HR is on super sale for the next 4 days! You have to have an account to see the sale prices.
I picked up some Loretta Chase (she has lots of Audible exclusives), Tessa Dare, Hoyt, Scarlett Peckham (I’ve seen a lot of love for The Lord I Left lately and the audiobook is one of my favorites!). They were all under $5!
{Lord of Scoundrels}
{The Lord I Left}
{The Earl I Ruined}
{Lord Perfect}
{Last Nights Scandal}
{the Raven Prince}
{One Dance with a Duke}
Happy shopping!
Found at local used book store in the “Vintage” books. (Um excuse me, if 90s is vintage what am I?)
If I had more space I’d have totally have bought it but I’m trying to keep my collection small. 🥹 I still love finding and posting great covers when I find them!
Quite a few Johanna Lindsey and Amanda Quick audiobooks are on sale until the end of the month. Prices start around 3.99 with lots at 4.99.
Other authors: Manda Collins, Eloisa James and Tessa Dare
I haven’t used Chirp before but I snagged a few Mary Jane Wells books and a few HR my library doesn’t carry
Warning, it’s just a plot device but this post will have spoilers.
I have seen a few posts criticizing this book and the MMC I’m there with you- this MMC is such a jerk and I like the writing but I want to punch air while reading. But y’all. The letters!! Maybe I’m in my feelings this week but I loved the >!flashbacks!< through letters. I loved their relationship and views of young Michael..and then Sarah Maclean just added those few words >!“unanswered” and “letter unsent” to make it devastating!!<
I feel so bad for Penny! It feels very >!The Notebook BUT WORSE in how she kept writing him letters for years!< 😭😭 I don’t know if this is considered a trope but I love it.
Hi all, i’m 2 weeks into tirzepatide, on the 2.5 dose. I have been loving the new focus and silencing the food noise. I am struggling a bit with the diet changes and maybe with nausea as a result.
I wasn’t really advised by my doctor what to eat and my sister- also on Tirz - is saying that’s a problem.
I’ve always eaten pretty healthy for my base diet- the volume and then binges were the problem. Like I love fruit, stir fry, Greek yogurt and (undressed!) salad with chicken breast. I just never felt full so I’d eat and eat stuff like that. Or I’d add white rice to my stir fry but end up eating half a days calories in rice alone bc it just felt like I never got the signal to stop. (Don’t get me wrong id also binge the f* out of anything when the stress hit, chocolate, chips, protein bars, kids fruit snacks, nothing was safe lol)
Anyway- my sister got some guidance from her doctor about diet. He gave instructions that she was to eat protein first, then fiber, then carbs and he suggested not a lot of fruit and to eat it last.
But like - I love a bowl of Greek yogurt with cut up peaches for lunch. I LOVE watermelon. And these foods are healthy!! And it’s what I’d like to eat once I move to maintenance tirz.
My sister is telling me I need to eat fruit LAST and I screwing with my diet too much. But like do I really have to wait all day just to eat some watermelon 😭? I don’t want to eat chicken or eggs every time I want to snack on some watermelon, I just want a snack sometimes.
I’m just feeling a bit defeated, I guess. Are there diet guides out there? I feel like I’m going to exchange the binge eating for another type of eating disorder if I’m so focused on needing protein first trying and not eating fruit and following a very strict regiment but maybe I’m coming at it from a stubborn mindset.
I’m going to be searching for a milk glass globe to put on top, it doesn’t have any hardware for a halo
Not technically a haul bc I decided I’m moving closer to my parents soon and so I’ve mostly been reading/buying ebooks 😭😭 but I loved the Rainbows End cover!
I’ve heard Julie Garwood but haven’t read her yet - google says this is her first book? (I’m really trying to convince myself not to go back to the store lol)
I recently listened to Good Girls Guide to Rakes after seeing it recommended and I really enjoyed it!! I’m listening to the second book in the series now - {How the Wallflower was Won by Eva Leigh} and for some reason I’m just not feeling this one as much! Did anyone else feel this way? Should I keep going or do a re-read (listen)? I’ve had the third book {A Rogues Rules for Seduction} was on one of my TBR lists (can’t remember why I added it 😅) but I’d like to read the series in order if possible!
Ok need to preface this by saying I have a little ADHD (read: a lot) so long series get be overwhelming bc my brain just wants to skip around the good parts. I usually need to read one of the better books of the series out of order to get me hooked and then OCD read the books in order to make sure I do it “the proper way”
I tried picking up the Maiden Lane series a few times after seeing the books recommended under different tropes. I tried reading Notorious Pleasures and was like ick, and I think Duke of Sin made references to some other characters I didn’t know and I got stuck on that (makes sense, looking back, since it’s the 10th in the series).
With that said - I started on {Thief of Shadows} yesterday and have not been able to put it down. But the question is where do I go from here? Are the other books in the series as good? Would anyone mind ranking MMCs from best to worst? Will I be lost if I jump around? I’m like 60% of the way through ToS and I haven’t gotten caught up in the “who is this character? Why did they suddenly appear” yet.
One thing I don’t like is really dislikable MMCs that stay dislikable for most of the book- I think this may have been why I couldn’t get into Notorious Pleasures. I love rakes >!but If I remember correctly it starts with the FMC walking in on the MMC already having sex with someone else? I think my brain was like “nah this is too close to men nowadays and I need fantasy”. I think I need reformed rakes or at least very charming and not mean ones (she says, as if St Vincent isn’t her favorite character)!< >!😆😆!<
Ok so I live in an old house in a wild climate. The old owners did a lot of these drywall fixes with mesh tape and it looked awful and then used textured paint (like made vertices lines in the paint for some reason??).
I wasn’t able to match the paint texture but wanted my living room to look nice so I taught myself skim coating and basically completely redid my living room to a level 5 finish
Over the doorway I had a settling crack and I ended up putting in a few screws and taping over etc. I guess I got the skin coat a little too thick and I didn’t check that the repair was plumb - now when I want to add trim there is a big gap. Is there anything I can do? The drywall is already primed over. I would hate to start all over but the gap is pretty decent- more than I could fill in with caulk.
(Please be honest but kind, I’m a beginner and didn’t have $5k to pay the professionals after buying a house by myself and tried really hard to get it smooth!)
