Car rental pick up late in San Sebastian > Day trip to Biarritz > Drop off Bilbao Airport

So excited for our trip to the Basque Country in a couple but am looking for some advice on renting a car and crossing into France.

We arrive into San Sebastian Airport (EAS) from BCN at 7:20 pm. It seems Hertz and perhaps others don't have pick ups later than 7:00 pm. Europcar is the only one I've found so far. Are there other reputable rental agencies that do? I've read mixed reviews about them about upcharging for 'damage'.

We would like to do a day trip to Biarritz. Do the car rental agencies allow this? Not quite sure how to specify this while doing the rental online.

Lastly, we are returning the car in Bilbao for a 10:30 AM flight to Madrid, then back to the US. What time do you recommend we return the car so we have ample time to take any shuttles etc and make it to our flight?

Many thanks!

Edit - Due to the drive time, we are thinking about staying somewhere closer to Bilbao. Any suggestions? A quaint town with a local feel vs touristy would be a nice way to end our trip. Perhaps within 30 minutes drive time on a Friday morning to make our 10:30 AM flight

Did one of you get this beaut?

I contacted the dealer and it was gone 1 hour ago 😭😭😭 what a build…and the price seems crazy low too (there a 2023 blue 4S without many options and was more expensive. That sold a day ago). I told the salesman I’ve got cash ready to wire if the buyer backs out.

Help w adopting this found boy - Los Angeles area

Back in February, this little guy wandered onto my work property. He had a harness on (see pic - that’s how big he was when he came to us) so we went around the neighborhood and asked our neighbors if anyone knew the owner. There was a homeless encampment nearby and we asked if anyone there had seen this dog. No luck. I have a guard dog (shepherd mix) and the two seemed to get along. So after taking him to the vet (he wasn’t chipped either) I thought about adopting him. But a month ago, he started fighting w my Shepard. Because our dogs stay on property 24/7 no one can monitor them at all times.

So we decided to try and find a forever home for him. We applied to a couple no kill rescue organizations but because he has fought w my other dog, no one will take him. I just can’t give him to a shelter where I know he’ll be euthanized. He’s a really, really good boy. He has a great demeanor, (look at those puppy eyes!) is very people friendly and well behaved (he doesn’t bite nor jump on you). He’s about 40 lbs and doesn’t seem to be growing more. We currently put him in the dog run at nights to keep them separated while no one is there.

Any suggestions on how to find a good home for him? I think he would make a wonderful pet to a family w no other doggo.

BIO - CDG - LAX; Is 1 hr 15 min layover in CDG enough time?

Planning to fly back from Bilbao Spain in July back to Los Angeles. The departure flight AF1477 has only 1:15 layover in CDG. Is that enough time or is that risky? I'm doing some research but wasn't sure if we would need to go thru customs in France and/or retrieve our bags and re-check them.

Upgrade to Fenix 8 from Epix Gen 2 - My Epix Buttons broke and leaked water...

So my Epix Gen 2 (non pro) got water damage when I was surfing a couple weeks ago. I reached out to Garmin support and they offered me either a renewed non pro Epix for $195, a renewed Epix Pro for $280, or a new Fenix 8 for 25% off (there's a sale right now so I don't think it's on top of the sale price).

I've loved the Epix Gen 2, and upgraded to it after losing my Fenix 5 a few years back. However, I have had my buttons go out on both of these watches. I learned how to replace the buttons on youtube and that gave me an extra year of life on the Gen 2 but after researching, it appears the buttons are a known weak spot of the Epix line.

The new Fenix 8 claims to have 'leak proof' buttons and I'm inclined to think they are designed better because it's rated for scuba diving to 40 m and there is no longer a 'click' to the buttons (something that I had go out on a few buttons, sometimes causing the button to not function, other times it still worked but didn't give the tactile click)

I no longer dive, otherwise this might be a no brainer. My question is, has anyone experienced a leak with their Fenix 8 or a button failure?

Need to cancel my wife's one way LAX to BCN booked with points. Fastest way for points to be refunded?

I booked her flight using points in April. Went back to the points.me site and found a Delta flight for much less points and only a $5 surcharge vs the $400 I paid with the AF ticket. I saw I can request a refund on the site but I do need to book our return from Bilbao and that will be on Air France. If I call AF to cancel, will my points be redeposited faster than if I cancel on the website? I've read it can take up to a few weeks. Any advice would be appreciated.

Edit: Because of the info below, I requested a refund online...oddly, the site stated the refund amount was TBD. I hopped on chat on the Flying Blue site and the rep promptly completed the refund of the FB points. I was told I'd get a full refund on the original $370.70 booking fees and would get charged the $80 cancelation fee on a new charge. The FB points were back in my account right after I got off of chat. Well done Air France!

What will 2020 Taycan's be worth/sell for after the battery is out of warranty?

Any guesses? Generally speaking, a lot of things are expensive to fix on a Taycan out of warranty. Has anyone had to deal with an out of warranty Taycan that needed a really expensive repair? If you decided to get rid of it, what kind of valuation did you get? Kelly Blue Book less the repair cost? I was binge watching Mat Armstrong on YT as he attempts to fix a non running, repo'd Bugatti Veyron he picked up and it got me wondering about what a non running Taycan would be worth.

I have a bus Plat card. Booked FHR one night stay at Fountainbleu in Vegas. I'll be charging breakfast ($70 credit per the hotel) and $100 pool food to the room later today. Once I see the charges on my invoice, will I also see the FHR credits offsetting those? I'd like to pay w a different credit card (this isn't a business trip). The hotel FHR info printout says you must pay w Amex at check out. But if I pay w a non Amex card, will I lose the breakfast and $100 credits? Just trying to avoid reimbursing my company for a personal charge.

I’m a business owner so this will be a company car. I’ve always bought my company cars and drove them for 10 years or more. Currently have a 2018 Tesla model 3. I’ve never leased a car in 41 years of driving.

I’ve been looking to buy a CPO 4S or GTS in the USA. But the deals seem to not be as great as they were a year ago. And combined with the fact Taycans can be expensive to repair, I’m looking at doing a CPO lease, making sure the car will be under warranty until the end of the lease (eg if I get a ‘23 CPO I’d have 1 year of mfg warranty plus 2 years under CPO coverage so I’d lease for no more than 3 years). Started looking at leasehackr in addition to Porsche finder but I’m greener than green when it comes to leasing (everything I know I’ve learned here - shout out to u/TyVII and others!)

Question - does anyone buy Taycans once their lease is up or are the residual values so high it doesn’t make sense?
