Probably not a good look to have the campaign vehicle breaking the law.
The Illinois Department of Transportation is asking the public for their feedback on the state's transportation system and the agency’s performance through the annual Traveler Opinion Survey. Available now through Tuesday, Aug. 11, the survey is available online by clicking https://go.uis.edu/Traveler2026 or visiting idot.illinois.gov.
Conducted in partnership with the University of Illinois Springfield, the survey is an opportunity for people who live in Illinois to provide their opinion on a wide range of topics, giving IDOT the information it needs to continue to be a national leader in transportation services. This year’s survey asks for input on road conditions, ice and snow removal, planning priorities, electronic vehicles and more.
CMAP's draft RTP proposes only 0.6% of funding to improve walking and biking transportation infrastructure in the region, which are low-emission modes that also help people connect to transit service. Active transportation is deemed an "enhancement," not integral part.

To take action:
Absolutely amazing photography work from Arthur Maiorella for Block Club Chicago documenting the vigil ride for Riley O'Neil.
State Senator Laura Ellman rose on the final day of the legislative session to pass legislation designating the Black-and-Gold Bumblebee (Bombus auricomus) as the official State bee of the State of Illinois. The legislation passed unanimously.

>Over the last hour, our office has gotten more than 100 emails urging support for a bill to allow u/waymo.bsky.social to operate in IL. The sending pattern (dumps of 40-50 at a time) suggests that these are bot generated and 99% of them say they’re from an address outside the district.
It’s ironic that a company that is trying to convince us that their robots are sophisticated enough to operate on our roads can’t even manage to have their robots send emails from actual constituents.
In 2024, we came dangerously close to losing Chicago's Greyhound terminal. Just like other cities across the nation, the station had come under ownership of private equity and Greyhound's lease was up with no plan from the City or the bus companies for a resolution. But thanks to our advocacy, a short-term month-to-month agreement was met while the City worked on a long-term plan.
Now, the City has presented a plan to add the terminal to the Canal/Congress TIF district in order to purchase the terminal – and your Alderperson needs to hear you support this plan!
Just like our airports, municipal ownership of bus terminals has been identified as best practice, with many successful cases in the US like Atlanta and New York City. It's time that Chicago gets this done.
On Monday, May 18th, the Finance Committee will be voting whether or not to support the TIF amendment that would enable the purchase of the terminal. It's critical that council hears that constituents understand the value of intercity buses and the impact that failing to act would have on bus riders nationwide.
The longer council waits, the closer we get to losing this vital transportation resource. Take 60 seconds and use our tool to contact your Alderperson today!
