Dog owners who let their dogs sleep in bed—what bedding setup actually works?

If your dog sleeps in your bed every night, what bedding has actually held up best for you?

I’m really curious what your real setup looks like.
For example, what sheets are you using, what duvet or comforter do you have, and what duvet cover works best for you?
Are there any materials that don’t trap or cling to dog hair?
What’s your cleaning routine like for dealing with dirty paws, drool, or the occasional accident?
Have you chosen anything specifically for durability or easy washing?
Do you use a washable blanket or quilt on top of everything?

Do you let your dog chew bones in bed?

I’d love to hear what’s worked well, what hasn’t, and any brands or products you swear by.
Please share your recommendations in the comments!

50/50 linen-cotton sheets still scratchy after washing — how do you soften yours?

I bought new sheets that are 50% linen / 50% cotton. I washed them once on cold/gentle as directed, but they still feel pretty rough and scratchy.
For anyone who has linen-cotton sheets: did yours soften after several washes? Would you use warm water, a normal cycle, vinegar, baking soda, or something else?
I’d rather not use fabric softener because I don’t want to coat the fibers. I also don’t want them to shrink. Any tips that actually worked?

Macy’s wool filled comforter

Has anyone tried the Hotel Collection Wool Fill Comforter at Macy’s?w what are your thoughts? Does it feel like a heavyweight winter duvet or a lightweight one? I can’t figure out where it comes from based on the online info and I’ve tried chatting with Macy’s online.

Lightweight king-size wool comforter recommendations?

I’m looking for a lightweight king-size wool comforter and would love recommendations from people who own one.

I’ve noticed many wool comforters run surprisingly small for a king. Has that been an issue for you?

I’m also concerned about moths, especially when storing it over the summer. Has anyone experienced moth damage, and how do you store yours?

What brand is your favorite? I’m considering Frankenmuth, Woolroom and Shepherd’s Dream, but I’m open to others.

What’s the best duvet cover closure—and do internal ties matter?

I’m buying duvet covers for a new down comforter and would love to hear what works best in real-life use.
I’m seeing zippers, exposed buttons, hidden/button-flap closures, and internal ties. My biggest concerns are protecting the down comforter, avoiding anything that could snag or rub the fabric, and keeping the insert from shifting inside the cover.

For those who’ve tried different styles:
Have you ever had a zipper catch, rub, or damage your duvet?

Are hidden buttons preferable to exposed buttons?
How important are internal corner ties?

Do the ties actually prevent shifting, or do they tend to come undone?

Which combination of closure + internal ties would you choose for a high-quality down comforter?

I’d especially love to hear from anyone who has used the same down duvet for years. What setup has worked best for you, and is there anything you’d avoid?

Do You Own More Than One Duvet Cover?

Does anyone else have more than one duvet cover for the same comforter—like a backup in case of emergencies? Do you switch them seasonally, rotate for a new look, or stick with one year-round?

Bed Blankets with puppy

I need to buy a new comforter after my puppy started ripping holes in my comforter al over and pulling the stuffing out. She’s a little older now so I’m wondering what I can get that will be safe? What do others have on their beds that are dog proof? A duvet insert and cover?

Dogs and down comforters

I’m thinking of using the down comforter and duvet cover system again. I haven’t had one in a long time. My hesitation is that I have dogs who occasionally will jump into bed with us during the night. I’m okay having them in bed. That’s not the issue.

My issue is what to do if a dog vomits in a down set up? I remember washing down comforters years ago and it was such a hassle and they never smelled right afterwards.

Do waterproof duvet covers exist? How do other dog owners handle this and what kind of bedding do you use?

Looking for Women’s narrow hiking boots. My Lowa boots have crumbled.

Looking to buy a women’s narrow hiking boot. Waterproof and insulated preferably. My Lowa boots crumbled and customer
service was not helpful. I will not get another pair of these. I use hikers infrequently but am in the northeast and use them for traction mostly when it snows. I have a very narrow, shallow foot. Is Lowa the only true 2A boot out there?

These boots were used infrequently despite the muddy appearance.

Ninja Creami with no fake sugar

Just got a Ninja Creami and I’m looking for mix recipes that don’t use sugar alternatives, agave, jello, or protein shakes. I’m not opposed to using heavy cream, dairy, Greek yogurt, berries, coffee vanilla extract. Is this possible?

Any recipe ideas?

Giant turkey cutlet

I’ve been seeing all the posts online making a giant sheet pan chicken cutlet using ground chicken. I can’t eat panko breadcrumbs or flour so I made up my own. I had ground turkey on hand . Next time I will use ground chicken but this was still delicious and I turned mine into parm.

You will need:
2 pounds of ground chicken
Spices like garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, salt, paprika
Almond flour
Grated Parmesan cheese
Avocado oil spray
2 beaten eggs for the egg wash

A sheet pan and 2 sheets of parchment paper
I used a silicone pastry brush for the egg wash

Line a sheet pan with one sheet of parchment
Sprinkle a little plain almond flour all over

Mix a bowl of about 2 cups of almond flour with some Parmesan and spices for your breading

Make a giant ball of the turkey in a bowl with your spices
Spread it out on the sheet pan a little, mashing with a fork to spread it out
Top with the second sheet of parchment and press all over with a spoon or small rolling pin to get it all even

Take the top sheet of parchment off and make sure it’s spread out evenly

Brush all over with beaten eggs
Sprinkle your almond flour/parmesan mixture all over with a sooon and you may have to use your hands to pat it all in. Spray well with avocado oil

Put second sheet over the top and you will need to flip it over. Crimp one edge of parchment to help with this. You may have to straighten out the turkey on the other side. Repeat with egg, breadcrumbs and oil spray.

Trim your parchment so it does not hang over the bottom I baked it with the parchment on the sheet pan.

Bake at 400 for about 25 minutes or longer depending on your oven.

This is a messy project but worth it!

Looking for dishwasher steak knives. Any decent ones out there?

I have a bunch of old Cutco table knives but don’t want to splurge for more of these. Two kids home from college and we are going through a lot of cutlery.

Any recommendations for decent dishwasher safe steak knives?

I’m heading to NYC for a few days with a 21 year old who can eat everything. I’m diabetic and watch everything I eat and eat low carb/keto. Meat, green veggies, salad, etc.

Where would you go for lunch and dinner where we will both be happy and still have some fun eating out? We will be staying in Hudson Yards but don’t mind traveling a bit.
