What can slow down a linux/ubuntu system?

Got some ubuntu 24 lts for a client that wanted that system specifically because she always used ubuntu, so wish granted, its installed on a 4 core 2020 machine with sata ssd, and the machine is kept clean, so no dust on cooler that can slow down the cpu

The thing is that at first when its recently formatted, the machine works fine, but over time it becomes sluggish, there isnt anything other than firefox, thunderbird, a scanner and libre office running and or installed

What am i missing? me: not an ubuntu/linux desktop user

Slight connection lag/packet loss during intense teamfighting (sometimes even disconnection)

wondering if someone faced the same issue as me

sometimes i feel that my skills arent applying and i just assume its my mistake but lately i've been noticing that i dont really have a crowd control applied or anything that prevents me from casting, yet i cant properly cast while doing some intense teamfighting. What made me realize that there were something more going on is when i started to disconnect for less than a second (the popup of reconnection appeared for less than a second at the same time i die)

other than that i never get a disconnection, fps are constant capped at 144, i have a decent ethernet cable and optic fiber, the ping is also very stable to servers, 8 ms to google, 25 ms displayed on game

This also isnt a thing that always happen, lets say i get this kind of issue like one in ten matches, and doesnt happen on every tf, also, otherwise the game would be completely unplayable

Corsair PSU RM750e FAN profile, changed itself?

my psu was completely silent under any circumstance but i did a small stress test of cpu+gpu, then after that the psu stayed wind-noisy, not like a bad rattling noise but the normal noise of a fan spinning quite fast.

nothing else is spinning that fast, neither gpu which is at 0 rpm most of the time, or the cpu fans which are all at 700 RPM and cant be really heard

The computer case is quite open, its a coolermaster qube 500 so its not air restrictive, plus its very cold over here, temps are good

Neither rebooting, unplugging from ac, or being sure that the computer is idle makes it stop, it spin up randomly

Corsair PSU fan weirdly cycling experiences? RMe750

been experiencing some weird fan noise that was unknown to me on my computer, it kept cycling weirdly with or without system load

it wasnt neither gpu or any of the 4 120mm fans i have on my system, therefore i thought it could be my psu (the only one left)

Not a weird sound itself as the fan sounds very healthy, but it kept cycling like going on and off, and sometimes staying on, rebooting or shutting down the computer didnt do the trick

Only power down then unplug the current plus pressing power button with current unplugged did the trick of stopping it.

What i used to monitor is hwmonitor and task manager, computer was idle, case/cpu fans all were spinning on 700 rpm, gpu was on 0 rpm. idle system.
