I've noticed google search and AI (ChatGPT, Gemini, etc.) frequently reference reddit as their source material for answering questions. I find that concerning. Anyone else?

Is it likely the internal Ethernet port on my mini-PC got fried after a power surge/power outage

Last night there was a huge power outage in my area due to a storm, my ISP reported the outage and were working to get everyone back online

Once service was returned however, my modem would not power back on. I reported the issue to my ISP and they had me go to a store to swap my old modem for a new one.

I setup my new modem, everything powers on, called my ISP who confirmed my PC should be receiving signal, however its still showing no connection.

So then, is it likely the port on my pc got fried?

Just bought this from goodwill because it was cheap and I like crosswords, but I don't understand why anyone would need a "crossword dictionary."

It's mostly something I can keep on my shelf for decoration, next to my scrabble and other dictionaries.

Just switched carriers out of t-mobile and standing taller because of it.

These scam artists told me my rates would never go up, then after years of loyalty to them, they proceeded to charge me over twice what their competitors charge.

Cut them off and now I can feel a physical burden that has been lifted off me.

Do you guys feel like there is an anti-veg conspiracy going on, connected to all the recent recalls?

It seems like nowadays, all I hear is the lettuce isn't safe, the frozen blueberries aren't safe, Driscoll's is putting "forever chemicals" on their strawberries and supposedly Beyond-Meat's stock is plummeting...

The amount of negative PR fruits, veggies and meat alternatives are getting almost seems kind of suspicious to me.

Is there any legal issue for using the name of a game in the title of an unofficial strategy guide?

Examples:

  • Madden 2026 Unofficial Strategy Guide
  • Monopoly Go Unofficial Strategy Guide
  • Scrabble Unofficial Study Guide
  • Street Fighter 6 Unofficial Strategy Guide for Playstation

I know in the case of writing strategy guides for video games I will be restricted from using official artwork, renditions of official artwork and in some cases even in-game screenshots. I am mostly concerned about the title of the book itself.

I mostly play Tiger and SoulCalibur, but the others are fun too.

Sold off my entire DVD collection years ago. Found what I kept in storage just recently. Glad I did tbh.

The one that is kind of faded is Moby Play. Mostly music video stuff.

Is this stuff worth is, is there a cheaper alternative and am I overreacting to my perpetual problem with dandruff? (More details in the comments)

I'm in my early 40s. For the past 5 years or so, I have issues with dandruff in my hair and beard, to which I never had issues with prior.

I have cycled through polar-opposite advice regarding the matter. Some say I am washing my hair/beard too much, some say not enough.

Recently I saw an ad for the product shown in the attached photo to this post. It described my problem exactly and inferred my issue was probably fungus, not dry skin or dandruff. One statement they made that stuck out in particular, was that not only have I noticed "dandruff" in my hair, but I get dry skin on my nose — another clue that my issue may be fungus related.

I have a hunch that the most common response to my concern here will be to see a dermatologist, but please assume someone hesitant to spend $55 on shampoo/conditioner doesn't have the money right now to see a doctor.

What are my best options?
