Motor works, platter spins, tone arm casing is smashed as seen in last photo, auto return from what i am able to gather works, i do not believe that is the correct cartridge carrying sled for this model

This Mozart recording was at my local record shop poked away in a corner and I got it for ten bucks
No 7 inch take up reels in house, hope this is not sacrilegious.
Im working on giving this table to my sister and im turning to you all again for advice, she has been going through the process of the darker side of her earlier twenties and my relationship with her is based around music. Any help is greatly appreciated as always but this one is pretty special to me. I know I could get her a better starting deck, and probably have something around the house lol, but when we had a good moment recently where she commented on how she liked this realistic Lab 8926!
So I noticed a grounding issue in the left channel during phono play back stemming from what I could only understand to be from the head shell cartridge connection point, causing violent woofer action in one channel during quiet passages if im playing at high volume.
so I removed the factory clips and tightly reinstalled them from the front and back of all leads on the head shell and cartridge. now I still have this issue with the left channel, except its definitely worse now it would seem the head shell is now completely ungrounded the headshell because if I turn up the volume to that level during no music, i can now hear the ungrounded hum and if I gently touch the tone arm during play back during regular play back then both channels pick up my juice lol causing both woofers to to violently pulse in and out.
Any tips before I attempt to solder the bare wire leads on the ground end of things to the pins on the head shell. Ive done something like this before on a more intricate design tone arm assembly but its painful work and im wondering if any of you have had any similar experiences!
Last photo is an updated on the seedlings mentioned in the 212 post you were all so helpful with im REALLY just learning this stuff and may have just made a simple mistake.
Basic At-91 cart basic Japanese straight tone arm assembly from the late 80s
Thanks again!
So I got this shipped to me express air extremely well packed and extra padding. tone are secured as well as all transport screws platter separate packed in its original box with an exterior box.
It has arrived and the tone arm movement has a lot more tension then it should and it seems to be pulling it backwards, Ive been in constant communication with the seller (retired senior) and I trust when he told me he gave one last spin of a record before boxing it up and it worked perfectly he is telling me the truth.
Ive been reading about what I can do from the outside and seem to have exhausted all options.
meaning I will be bringing to my local turntable expert early next week to take it apart and see what is causing this back pulling force on the tone arm and why it is not moving freely like it was when it was packaged.
(pic snagged in the seed sprouting room, im building a test bench here to work on these sorts of things)
Any tips Reddit?
Got this for 100 cad off a dude that had it in his shed for a few years, it was listed for 200 and when I messaged him he sent me some cryptic responses that i had to navigate in order to get him to meet me for this about a month after the initial point of contact… bit of an odd ball seller.
I got there and he told me he’d been waiting for the “the right buyer” this was like an 1.25 hour drive from my house and so I was like fuck hes probably not even going to sell me this thing and is just looking for human contact out in rural Newfoundland, but once I told him im interested in learning on how to restore and re capp these things be gave me this for 100 cad.! He also through in a techniques receiver from the 90s for free…. Nothing special but my sister can have it for her first set up and I never had to pay a cent for it.
I know that the Yamaha p2200 is worth more that 100 bucks in found condition but and he told me there is no reason it should not work….. im building a dim bulb tester and have a dc multi meter to test it before plugging it in but I think for the fact of learning, im going to open it up and try to recap and restore in even if it is in functional condition now!
Any tips for learning how to recap this shit? There is no local official store to get this serviced and the dude that does it locally as a hobby is known to be a bit sleazy in business practices and likely to turn down work to strangers….. I know its modular in design making it so it could be worked on like this easier but but this will be my first attempt doing something like this… my soldering skills sre excitant but weak at best
