Japanese time capsule

Was dissaembing a early war era Type 99 Arisaka and three pieces of paper were found in the stock wrapped around the barrel. Some sources say it was common for a tight seal between stock and barrel for accuracy, but also as a manufacturer proof of production quality. Any help translating would be extremely appreciated.

Japanese > English Japanese time capsule

Japanese > English

Three pieces of paper found in an early war Type 99 Arisaka. During disassembly these pieces were found and I believe these to originate back to Imperial Japan Google translate kinda helps but having individuals who actually know the language would help.

Soviet mages spoiler rant

Spoilers talking about episode 6 ahead.

So with this episode we get the full force of the Soviet mages hitting the front line and actually being a threat to the 203'rd mage battalion. My question being and this may be better explained in the lighnovel I just haven't read this far yet; but where in the hell did this training come from????

Since this world is built an a mirror image is most ways to our world and knowing the mages were sent to the gulags during the purges. When and how did these mages get this fit and this tactically competent. They were in gulags for christ sake, if anything they sould barely be competent soldiers especially since the soviets see the mages as images of the last regime they would be expected to be treated the worst. One would expect any magic used would be heavily punished more than likely, poor food and sanitation, and heavy labor would literly work them to death.

I get they liken the tactics and bond built during their time in internment but that does not lead to combat levels of experience or training. And if they were elite soldiers of the foremer regime the gap in training/experience and technology would prove detrimental. Im sure their computation orbs are based off either early KV1 tanks know for being strong and are improved orbs based off of lend lease help. But the 203'rd is combat tested and proven multiple fronts years of constant combat experience, but now they're struggling? I'm not saying they sould whipe the floor with them but this much of a threat it doesn't make sense.

Side note to a different rant I want Mary Sue to be fragged so bad her very being pisses me off to no end. Insubordination, jumping chain of command, ignoring orders, being a losses cannon, endangering her comrads, and since shes an officer conduct unbecoming of an officer. Eveytime i see her go off like some Rambo wannabe I want to throw all of UCMJ at her get her dishonorably discharged and imidiatly sent home. Every time I see her on screen I genuinely hope she gets killed because it's idiots like her that live while getting others killed via their own stupidity.

Sorry for the rant but I had to get it out what do yall think?

Foia failure?

I got an M1D Garand off of gunbroker and put in a foia request. My goal was to see if I could get the NSN of the rifle to confirm if it is an authentic M1D or someone's recreation as it has a "555" barrel.

Checked my email and there are "no records responsive to my request." Did I possibly format my request wrong or has anyone else had this happen that there wasn't any record of the rifle; possible it left the Armys inventory pre 1975?

1916 Gewehr 98 "Israeli"

I commented about this rifle on the post about showing your holy grail gun. Thought I'd make a post about this rifle itself as I love milsurp guns because the ammount of history imbued in each and every gun. So I hope yall are as intrested and fascinated in this history of my favore gun in my collection.

My Gewehr 98 started life in 1916 made by Spandau, serving with Imperial Germany in WWI. With the Treaty of Versailles only 84,000 rifles were allowed to be kept to arm the German army and police forces. These rifles are marked with the year 1920 proofing marking of which this rifle was lucky to survive with.

Sometime in its history it was rebuilt to K98 standars under the Nazi regime. Anywhere from 1944-1948 (educated guess) mausers including this one were sold/ smuggled into Israel where they fought in the Arab Israeli war. In the late 50's the Mausers were re barred to use 7.62 Nato ammo, leading to the 7.62 proofing marking on the front of the receiver and on buttstock.

Sometime from the 50's-80's Israel sent this rifle to Guatemala where it served with their military. In the 90's alot of these rifles were imported into the US.

Past 1920 all the dates are estimates and guesses pieced together based on the historical timeline of when these things happened. Either way this rifle has scene 110 years of history, two world wars, the sands if Israel for an unknown number of wars and years, jumping continents to serve in the Jungle.

Also if anyone knows what all the lettering that is shown on the reciever in the last four pictures is/ what says about the rifles history; and or what I believe to be Hebrew on the barrel says it would be much appreciated.

Yugo M48/52

An interesting find here, I'll start off stating that I dont know for sure if this a replica that someone made or authentic.

What we do have here and the history we do know is that the Soviets sent 91/30 PU scopes to Yugoslavia, the issue bing that these scops and their BDC were zeroed for 7.62x54R. This being an issue as the majority of the rifles that were in service in Yugoslavia was chambered in eight mauser. The new ON 52 optic was made and long story short adjusting the BDC zero to 8mm mauser with other minor changes. At bare minimum the optic is authentic being made in Ljubljana.

Information on the history of this early sniper build is sparse with the most in depth Information found being in a single book but minimal information found elsewhere. Even if its a replica its an intresting and forgotten part of history, and if anyone have more information on the history on this style of sniper platform I'd be eternally grateful.

M1 carbine sniper prototype reproduction

So as the title says I have done a thing. I'm fascinated with sniper rifles and their history I have everything from a 1903A4 to a Yugo M48/52, even restoring a 91/30 mosin PU sniper. So when I was surfing the web and ran upon the prototypes done on the M1 carbine using the M3 mount or I house T3 modification I was hooked.

Now I dont wont to perminatly alter my M1 that was out of the question but was able to source an original mounting bracket with the hand guard with the cut out for it I was excited.

And as you can see history recreated. All parts are authentic and original but obviously its not an authentic prototype. No permanent modifications have been done and is 100% reversible. Currently it has my 1903A4 Lymen Alaskan on but have just bought a weaver 440 to replicate the m73 weaver 330 scope that was used for test; but with better magnification for practical shooting purposes.

I haven't shot her yet with the scope on, I want to confirm the ejection pattern and that the brass wont damage the scope like what happed with the prototype. Im proably going to have to add a brass deflector but do it in a way that looks good but still not permanently modifying the gun or the mount. What yall think a bubba, historical Bubba, or worthy of its historical inspiration.

M1D help

So I won a quoted M1D Garand off Gunbroker. The seller openly stated that they weren't selling as an authentic or certified M1D. They did note the barrel carrying the D7312555 marking at the 12 o'clock position under the handguard; with a barrel manufacture date of June of 1952 by Springfield Arms. After research I understand that this doesn't garuntee authenticity; but would a FOIA request possibly identify the authenticity with records only going back to the 70's? Would I have more luck with the CMP or any other organization? Authentic or not im just happy to finally get my first M1 Garand that I told myself that I'd get myself once I got my Sgt promotion; but it would be pretty cool to find out more of her history. Ive already tracked down thr serial number to an estimated production of October 1943 for the reciver which is just one month after my 1903A4 was built. Photos attached for the barrel stamps, any help is appreciated.
