Help me figure out my DPS hero pool please

Hello, I just came back to the game after a period away from it. Over the last year, I only played in season 1, but only in qp. So the last time I played in comp was before Wuyang released, but now that I'm having fun with the game again, I wanna put a hero pool together and hop back in.

My issue is I'm spoiled for choice. I main DPS and holy hell, they've been pumping out damage heroes over the last while. Five new ones since I last ranked, and they all caught my eye. I wanna avoid potentially assembling the dopamine spike Avengers, so I'd like to hear some level headed takes from people who get the meta and heroes' niches better than I do now.

To start off, Echo is my favorite hero in the game. Her play style fits me best, I just like the little game of fishing you play from mid-range followed by the pounce. I love her mobility simply because of how versatile it makes the angles she can take. There's a fluidity to this hero that's hard to replicate on anything else.

Then, I feel like picking a main DPS/hitscan hero is the next step, right? Last time I was in comp, I was one-tricking Widow for a season. This was my attempt at stepping out of the comfort zone and putting myself out there to be mogged by flanking Kiriko players. But it worked and it made me a lot more confident in my angles and ability to hit shots under constant pressure. I also find Widow 1v1s to be one of the most fun matchups in the game.

Third, Vendetta won me over. I was skeptical at first, but she feels like the second coming of DPS Doom that Venture never was. It's just that I still have a lot of work to do on her. Some games I'm their father. In others, enemy team picks Mizuki and suddenly my palms are sweaty. Is she a consistently valuable hero to commit to at all, or more of a one-trick material? I think she got hella banned in comp last time I checked too.

Would these 3 work well as a base or is it a house of cards? I like them in principle, but their weaknesses are kinda glaring, so I'm uncertain. At any rate, I am looking at potential fillers or replacements.

Ashe has been my comfort pick hitscan for ages, due to how "safe" she feels with her positioning and power budget. Emre also ended up surprisining me with how smooth his gameplay loop is. Is adding either of them to the hero pool gonna do much?

For flankers, can't go wrong with the classics like Tracer or Genji, but Anran's fun to mess with their backliners too. My only worry with her is that her kit is kinda "sloppy". I feel like there's too much fluff, not enough edge in there. I'm lowkey playing tug of war with enemy supports on my target's hp at times.

A lot of the remaining newer DPS give me that ick, actually. They feel like jack of all trades, master of none. Miss Sojourn 2.0 Sierra over here is a great example. Kit feels buttery smooth, but what's her niche? Shion feels like Cass' and Reaper's lovechild, but are you ever gonna ask a teammate to pick her for any reason? Freja, same thing. If they buff her, hell on earth. If they nerf her, almost worse than Hanzo. I enjoy playing these but are they heroes worth sticking to in the long run?

The rest of the damage heroes, I either don't got the hands for or they've been kinda left behind / in rework limbo (looking at you Sombra and Reaper).

Anyway, I've rambled enough. 😅 I know having fun is ultimately what matters, but a decent amount of the fun for me isn't about how the hero plays in a vacuum but rather how their kit interacts with win cons and the maps. I don't like changing up the heroes I play too often, so I want to feel like I've got reliable options. Any kind of advice or tip on the overall comp meta would be welcome.

How do you guys pick out your main?

I'm really curious on how many of you care about how a champion plays like vs. how strong they are in the meta. Is it worth one-tricking or ignoring the meta entirely, in your opinion? Do you prefer mastering a champion or only focus on what gets you the results? 🤔

Help me figure out Shion please

I missed the previous two seasons of Overwatch and wanted to catch up with the new heroes. Sierra felt pretty natural from the start. She plays like a mix of Sojourn and Freja, easy to figure out. Shion, however, I'm a little lost playing her.

Her sub-role is flanker, but I'm not sure how you're supposed to pull that off. My instinct as an Echo player got me sneaking into backlines, starting off with secondary fire, trying to finish them with primary, then biking off. Problem is that unless I'm not hitting hella headshots, nothing ever dies. So I rerouted and started doing the reverse. Break every traffic law omw to their backline, blast em with primary and finish off with secondary. It feels like the intended way to flank with her, except this play leaves me in awkward spots with no escape usually, so at best it's a 1 for 1.

I eventually stopped trying to flank and turned into McShion, playing off-angles. But then I ask myself, why even play Shion like this if Cassidy can do it better? I just don't get how you're supposed to get value with her. Nothing I tried justifies her existence in the game for me.

I'm confused. What is her overall playstyle? What is her bike best used for? Do you tap or hold primary? Secondary fire to start off or as a finisher? Is her ult the only decent time to flank? I'm so ass on her, I'd love some tips. 🙏

Did this hookshot mechanic/bug ever exist or am I imagining it?

Hello. I recently came back to play some League again after years away and naturally one of the first champions I took for a spin was my highest mastery one, Camille. I noticed in-game that some of hookshots kept failing to hit the wall. I took the champ to the practice tool to test something and I figured out why I kept missing. I remember one of the things I used to rely on was that even if a wall was out of range of the hookshot, I could cast it just a few inches off and then walk towards the terrain and the max-range hitbox would shift forward with me, which meant the grapple would latch on. Was this fixed in the meanwhile or has it just never existed and I'm a schizo for remembering it?

List of every skin inside the Anniversary event selection chest

Many people would gather enough anniversary tickets from tomorrow's login to get their free skin selection chest from the Poro's Memory Express store. It's a mess to figure out if there are any skins in there for your mains because the ordering is all over the place, the skin names are cut off and if you can't tell what is what by the portraits, you gotta click them individually. Their UI could use a filter like they do for pose chests but since there isn't one, I made a list of all 279 skins from the chest as a hopefully cleaner option.

I need tips for laning as Samira

Hi. I recently started a Samira-only run. ADC is my least played role by far, I don't much like it but Samira is one of the few ADCs I actually enjoy. I guess part of my issue is that I'm not used to laning as a marksman in general but damn it feels like I can never trade on this champion. My last few lane opponents that I can remember have been stuff like Ashe/Senna, Caitlyn/Lulu, MF/Nautilus and I just always get outtraded. I pretty much hug tower every laning phase and wait for jungle ganks and river skirmishes to pick up kills. Some games I'll get ahead anyway, in others I'm praying I reach full build before their support does. Skill issue, yes, but I'd love some tips if possible.

What is your decision-making thought process in this game?

Solo queue is really starting to get to me lately. I play top lane so most of the laning phase goes by pretty quickly. Junglers rarely come in, they're fighting at dragon on the other side of the map so it's just me scrapping with the enemy top laner. Life is good until mid game rolls around and their team is somehow attacking your mid base turret 7 minutes in, their jungler is 12/1, your adc has less gold than their support.

Even with a lead, what am I supposed to do in that moment? God knows I wanna splitpush and get stronger but these mfs won't ever stop fighting. Even with no big objective on the map and being behind on gold, they'll always pick a fight. It never feels like I can make the right choice. Constantly grouping feels bad because we're sharing resources when the sidelanes are completely free but I feel like if I'm not there to babysit them, they'll inevitably feed. I've caught so much flame for before for pushing the sidelane and not being mid for a teamfight. Why the hell would you start a pointless fight if there's nothing to gain, especially when you have a minimap and can clearly see I'm not there? Sometimes I'll walk with my team and enemy team just kites away so then it feels like a huge waste of time. It's so cursed.

I've lost so many games where I get a huge lead but can't turn it into a W because I flip flop between playing the sidelane like I want to and joining random teamfights around the map. I'm tired of mid to late game feeling like such a coin toss sometimes.

What are your thoughts? Is it just better to always be there for every fight or do you just play your game and get your free resources elsewhere? I know jungle players must have an opinion on this because a lot of them get grief from teammates for not being everywhere but some of them are not bad players and just suffer from laners that make dumb decisions constantly.

Are there champions you should avoid playing?

Hi, I found this sub a few weeks ago and have been lurking ever since, I hope it's fine to ask this here. I started playing League half a year ago. Initially, I played ADC on the bot lane but eventually settled for top as my main lane.

Long story short, I watched an Irelia montage and it made me wanna start playing the champion myself, so she's been my main for a while now. One of my friends (who got me into the game in the first place) told me that I shouldn't play Irelia and that I should drop it while I still can because champion is poorly designed. I said well what about Camille or Ambessa? He said I'll get hardstuck playing champions like these and that I should play Garen and Mordekaiser instead. Honestly, I think I'd rather go play a different game than play Garen. I like champions with a decent skill ceiling but he's pretty much shot down everything I threw at him.

So, is he right? Are certain champions just a red flag? Is it just because I'm still new-ish to the game and he's trying to make things easier for me? He is higher ranked than me by a few ranks and I've still got a lot to learn so I'm not gonna argue with him but I'd like to hear some other opinions on this too.

The preview for Ahri's ASU is here

It's been 3 years since Ahri got her ASU in League PC and now it is finally making its way into Wild Rift. She will now have brand new animations which carry over to her epic skins too. Every one of her skins gets new effects too, even her legendaries. Crystal Rose looks so much better now, it deserved those vfx from the start. You can find the previews for all her ASU skins on the Wild Rift SkinSpotlights YT channel if you wanna check them all out.

https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdaVRnwTEkkTW9IVHrx-ieYzvrF0MBZJ2&si=vl6mxCw8O-YqFVIY

Which of her skins got the biggest boost from the ASU in your opinion?

139 champion releases, 34 to go

We're now almost halfway through the champ releases of 2026. With Skarner coming out in 7.1g on 12 June, Wild Rift will have 139 champions in total. 3 of the champions released this year so far are mid laners while top lane, jungle and adc got 1 each. That probably means at least 1 of the remaining 6 of this year will have to be a support and on my life I need it to be Neeko. Just let me be a canon minion Riot I beg 😩

Of the 34 champions that Riot has yet to port from League 7 are top laners, 12 are junglers, 9 are mid laners, 4 are supports and 2 are adc. Lots of jungle champions still to release, those 5 jungle mains that still play the game will be eating good. Which of the remaining champions do you guys think the game needs as soon as possible? In my opinion, it's messed up Sejuani still isn't in the game in 2026, they gotta put her in.

Can anyone teach me how to proc Fiora's ult quickly?

I picked up Fiora some time ago and I'm getting the hang of her positioning, vital management, parry timing, etc. but I'd like to improve my ults. Do any of the more experienced Fiora players have any tips for hitting all four vitals quickly and consistently? Do you have to setup a certain way? Do you need flash every time? I'd love some help with it.

You guys ever been torn picking your main role?

I've been playing this game for a few months and enjoy mid and top the most but I'm struggling to just stick to one of them. I keep bouncing between them. Camille is my favorite champion in the game but then the list of other top laners I like ends after just a few more names. Meanwhile I feel like I have over 10 mid laners I enjoy playing. So then, it's between sticking to my favorite champion's lane or the lane where I'd have more to choose from. I'd like to know your approach to sticking to whatever role/champions you main. What's most important to you?

Am I on some weakside blacklist or something?

I've noticed a bit of a pattern lately. I am a top lane main that constantly gets weaksided, even when I'm the strong side. By contrast, their jungler is in my lane way more often. I know it's empirical data on my end but it was particularly stark in the games I had yesterday where it happened in every single one, didn't matter if I was ahead or behind, their half or mine. Sometimes even their mid will roam for a chance to whoop my ass.

My junglers will gank top max once if they wanna do herald but half the time they start it on their own and never come near top again. This one game I helped my jungle invade and we got their jungle's flash, first blood on enemy top and their blue buff too. Thought we were bros after that but blud still weaksided me :(

I don't play jungle often so I gotta hear what goes on through their minds from some jungle mains. Is there something I'm not aware of or is it just pure disrespect and what can I do to earn their trust?

Is Kaisa's Neon Daredevil skin worth it?

I got 110 leftover event coins that I still haven't spent. I main Irelia so I was thinking about getting her icon but Kaisa's Neon Daredevil skin is up for grabs too (got all the other skins). I don't play Kaisa ever but if the skin is goated, it's basically free so why not. For those that have it, is it a banger or nah? Does it make the top 3 Kaisa skins? Top 5? Not even close? Please let me know cuz I'm not on board just yet🙏

For some reason this one EP from around 2017-18 popped up in my mind the other day and I can't for the life of me find it again anywhere. I can't remember what it is called but it had wolves on the cover. I'm pretty sure the artist was Judge but either I can't find the right Judge on Spotify or I'm misremembering that too. Sorry if it's all too vague but I wanna find it again out of curiosity if nothing else 😖

What are your guys' top 5 skins you want Rito to bring over from LoL? Mine are:

  1. Mythmaker Irelia. She doesn't yet have a legendary and I hope it'll be this one. Smooth animations and effects + the voiceover is so wholesome compared to how depressed she is in her original vo.

  2. Star Nemesis Morgana. The sound effects alone are soooo peak.

  3. Shan Hai Scrolls Bard. I'm a sucker for this skinline in general and Bard was the perfect choice for it.

  4. Lumberjack Sion. Chopping down enemy towers just doesn't feel right without it.

  5. DJ Sona. A classic. It'd be sick if they updated it to have even more forms, I'm just afraid of the price tag.

You know what I realized? Janitor Thresh is literally OG Thresh but dressed as a janitor. The same OG Thresh they censored for his base skin. How come him wearing a hat suddenly makes his original design OK to put in Wild Rift? It kinda gives me hope that they could find a workaround and revert his base skin to its intended design. In my opinion, it's never too late 🤞🤞

Dumb question maybe, but when you use W to hop over a wall, do nearby enemy champions on the other side get any indication of you being there assuming they didn't have vision of your initial position? Do you go completely undetected or is there a small window where they see you hop over the wall before you go invis?
