Call to seasoned hikers: Help me make a Pre Hike Guide!

Hello, ang daming nagtatanong ng pre hikes tapos kung kaya na nila ba yung major. I would like to make a guide about this na mahahanap sa web search.

Bale eto pa lang rough outline ng idea of what pre hike can prepare: Endurance (length), Open trail (heat), Technical (scrambling/upper body), jungle trek (limatik, dense plants, tinik), river crossings

Minor Pre Hikes to Major:

  • Mascap Twin -> Mascap Trilogy at Montalban Trilogy
  • Mt. Ulap -> Kotkot Bukaw, Tenglawan, Kabunian

Lower Major Pre Hikes to Major:

  • Makiling UPLB -> Makiling Traverse, Tarak Ridge, Tarlac Trilogy
  • Tarak Ridge -> Arayat Quadpeak, Mt. Irid
  • Arayat Twin Peak -> Quadpeak
  • Montalban trilogy -> Mt. Irid
  • Mt. Irid -> Bulpeak
  • Kotkot Bukaw -> Pulag Akiki, Tapulao Dayhike, Mt. Ugo Dayhike, Purgatory Dayhike

Higher Major Hikes

  • Mt. Ugo at Tapulao Dayhike -> Sapang Uwak, Cawag Hexa
  • Arayat Quadpeak or Bulpeak -> Cuytarak/Pantarak
  • Tapulao + Arayat -> Mt. Apo

Sample lang yan. Tapos we can organize better with tables or graphic design. Pwede din ihiwalay yung day hikes sa two days for cases like Purgatory and Tapulao.

I have not climbed G2 kaya I ask for help here to make suggestions for this pre hike curriculum idea.

Edit: To make it clear, I never said na hiking lang ang dapat niyong gawin pre hike. Regular exercise and body conditoning is a must, pero obvious na po iyon. I hope you understand the goal of this guide: It is just to help build confidence and knowledge with real life trail practice sa mga gusto mag overprepare.

Discord putting the gift icon in between the text box and emotes, increasing the chance of misclicking it

Yes, I misclicked it a few times since the update. It makes zero design sense in terms of ease of chatting for a right handed person. Your thumbs will naturally extend from the right side and they placed it there to be accidentally clicked to see their offer.

Gordon Ramsay Idiot Sandwich pop up in BGC - thoughts on Chicken Breakfast Club

Price is 495 + Service Charge, so over 500 pesos.

In terms of taste, it is good. The meat, egg, and palaman ng sandwich are good in terms of portion. It's fresh, juicy and flavor is just right in seasoning. It is an overall satisfying meal. I definitely want to taste it again, if I want to splurge again and treat myself.

However, do I feel like I have to pay more than 495 for this? I don't think so. It is a street pop up store. They don't give you a plate to put your food on. No utensils. No way to wash your hands.

If you are just going to taste the sandwich, better to eat it somewhere else. But if I want to dine with a sandwich where I can enjoy a cup of coffee and relax, there are way better places worth the price.

This was shared by a friend

Sabi ng friend ko this was in Makati daw. I'm not sure kasi di naman ako masyadong nakakapunta ng Makati.

Pero just by watching at this video, it's a bit disappointing kasi parang may nagchi-cheer pa sa gitna ng gulo or baka ako lang na hindi sanay sa ganiyan kaya disappointed ako.

If anyone knows where this is exactly, comment niyo na lang at yung pinagmulan ng gulo.

How long was the journey of Kratos and Atreus in GoW 2018? A guide to the novel timeline.

I compiled a timeline of GoW 2018 based on the official novel written by JM Barlog (father of Cory Barlog). Note that while the games are still more canon than the novels, the timeline does not contradict anything.

  1. The hunt after Faye's funeral took several hours, and they slept the whole night.

  2. Baldur arrived at the morning.

  3. It took at least a full day to reach the Jotnar settlement where they met the cannibals. Kratos counted their rations to last 7 days after resting.

  4. The next day after the cannibals, they met Brok at the bridge.

  5. Freya took approximately 7 days as their sack was empty when they arrive at her house. However, note that they hunt too so they could have replenished along the way. Total: at least 9 days since the funeral.

  6. Atreus spent a full day and an entire night beside the light in Alfheim. He saw the sky darkened.

  7. Meeting Mimir and reviving him in Freya's house took three days. Total: At least 13 days.

  8. When Atreus got sick, Kratos needed hours to row from Freya's house back to his home.

  9. Skipping to the end of the journey, it takes Kratos and Atreus several hours to climb the golden staircase to the summit.

The whole GoW 2018 story from Faye's funeral to reaching Jotunheim is more than 14 days (2 weeks) based on days mentioned. But hypothetically, it is minimum 3 weeks.

If it takes 3 days to climb down from Mimir to Freya, then Kratos and Atreus needed approximately 6 days to climb the mountain twice in the story. Some key moments like retrieving the giant's chisel, Helheim, and finding the Jotunheim tower didn't mention the passage time, which adds to the total number of days.

Also, add that Kratos freeing all Valkyries is confirmed to be canon in Ragnarok.

In the novels, Atreus' rebellious phase is a rage-filled attempt to imitate his father

Important: The novelization (written by JM Balrog, Cory's father) are not as canon as the games. There are a lot of scenes that are different than the final product. However, it is still a good reference especially on fleshing out the characters.

Atreus' dark phase began when he learned he was a god, and he was increasingly frustrated when Kratos refused to answer him about the Blades of Chaos. His anger from his father's secrets and learning of his divine status resulted into this rage-filled tantrum. This is in-line with the game.

However, many scenes in the mountain were different. Sindri was not there and the weather seems normal. When Modi appeared, Kratos also insulted him instead of pure silence. Kratos physically tried to stop Atreus from killing Modi.

One interesting difference is the encounter with Baldur. In the novel, Kratos lost to rage and shoved his son. This resulted to Atreus retaliating with an arrow shot.

Game and canon Kratos is more calm and silent in the whole mountain sequence, but also a lot more passive. Game Atreus' rebellion is more amplified and emphasized through a storm (not in the novel). In the game, Atreus has more horrible lines, insulted Sindri, his mother and "whatever."

The fanbase had a few theories on Atreus' infamous "whatever" phase, ranging from being drunk and possessed by an evil spirit. I find these fun even if the novelization does not support them.

In Helheim in the novel, Atreus may have said "that isn't me," when he saw a phantom of himself killing Modi, but deep inside, he accepted it was his actions.

What Atreus and the Mask of Creation could mean for the story

The devs tried to hide the significance of the mask as a mere McGuffin and many fans believed that, but it's now confirmed to be a major plot point for the future of the franchise. Due to GoW Laufey, we know that Faye destroyed a Mask, a splinter got inside her hand, and the presence of another Mask makes the Path unsafe for her husband and son.

1. Atreus saw the mask in Utangard, where he reaches to it as a child. Note that the Utangard is Ymir's dreams that giants can access when sleeping. All of Atreus' dream this sequence is his younger self where he killed Modi and disobeyed his father. So what could this mean? Is this a vision of his future... or something else from the past?

  1. The Mask is said to be attuned to Atreus' goal and path, and he was the only one we ever saw use it onscreen. It never says it glows to find the other parts. It only glows when its near the Rift, or when Atreus is using it.

  2. The Mask led Atreus to Garm, even if the writing was mistranslated. Plenty of theories here including how a mask piece is on top of the realm, or how Garm ate a part of it. But is this really a coincidence or was this because it is attuned to Atreus' goal?

At the end of Ragnarok, Atreus heard Faye speak to him "your path is your own." Its curious how the word "path" is used again. The same is used for the journey Faye sent them to Jotunheim, and the Mask's purpose. While it can be easily interpreted as him dreaming and just metaphorical, with the lore of the Utangard and Faye's role, it might be a real interaction.

Atreus also has "giant visions" we never saw onscreen, and this is the reason he left at the end of Ragnarok. Something to think about for the next entry in the story.

Faye likely died in her sleep - the first thing she does is look to where Kratos and Atreus would be when sleeping

A few people made this comment online so I am not claiming I am the first one who saw this. But its pretty subtle and also interesting. Faye said "she never got to say goodbye," so likely they all slept the night peacefullt and thought she will just wake up like normal the next day.

Also, while the cause of her death is not fully explained, remember that Kratos doesn't go crazy over it while seeking revenge or answers. Faye and Kratos made arrangements for her death as we saw in Ragnarok. Kratos seemed to have accepted it will eventually happen.

In Lore and Legends, Atreus says Faye seemed cold and pale at one night, and he felt her sadness. After this, Faye seemed to go out of the house and be gone for days, and Atreus did not know why. No other details of her final days were said after this, and all of Atreus journals just say she died.

I think the POV of Zora and Lora would be very interesting to explore given they were Kratos' lovers for more than 13 years

To those who don't know, they are the boat ladies in GoW 1 and also the same ones at his throne in GoW 2. They are named Zora and Lora in the novels and apparently also Aphrodite's daughters lol. These ladies met Kratos during his 10-year servitude and stayed with him in the 13 years of him being the God of War.

They would have been there in Olympus seeing all the politics of the gods there and time of Kratos as the GoW. They surely would see him vulnerable, lonely, and yet also distant. Of all the non hostile NPCs that are uninvolved with the plot, I honestly find them the most interesting.

Posting this in the Ragnarok sub too. I highly recommend watching the Robert Meyer's full hour of the lecture: https://youtu.be/6iTBqcBv5QA?si=nlnhP7Qm\_5GDK4iK

But to summarize some very interesting parts:

Based on play testing, they found out a huge chunk of players go cooldown + runic builds (Picture 2). They re-adjusted the whole gear and combat design to encourage aggressive melee combat, which they think is the identity of Kratos. They also don't like defensive builds and playstyle.

In designing gear, they don't want one meta build and aimed for diverse sets by end game. They considered all kinds of players like, "God of Fashion" ones who only pick pretty armor, and those who love to tinker with every build. But at the end, they made sure that the game is designed in a way you can potentially complete it without any gear equipped.

There used to be a Poison Axe build that causes poisonous explosions, but Eric Williams doesn't like it because he doesn't want Kratos to be played in such a way.

He designed the Hrist and Mist boss fight.

Also, he looks at Reddit comments.
