Finished it 😅
Plan is to put it on a stand with 3 swords of revealing light. Pretty unhappy with the gold trim but I'm out of time lol. Other mistakes a plenty but I'm proud of it still
Finally settled on a paint scheme for the weapon
Gonna do a dark metallic on that long detail panel and a light pearl blue on the very center smaller detail panel and let the space paint scheme just be on the blade. Build is due in a couple days and I need to panel line and add my decals lol busy busy
Marble test
Still need to hit the side skirts and weapons but wanted to try marble effects. Probably need to thin my paints more and hit lighter coats to keep the finish cleaner but this is due in like a week so just gotta keep trucking lol
Getting a little end of project depression lol
I stripped the diamond white parts. Ive decided to try a marble effect on them to further separate the dragon parts from the regular armor. Currentlt in the process of masking and painting the waist coat and armor now. Primed weapons and wings to paint next. This project has been so much fun and I've gotten the chance to try a ton of things I was always curious about.
Update on Blue Eyes Custom
Trusting the process was scary! But happy with how it's coming out. Made some mistakes with the sputtering so the surface texture isnt perfect in some spots but I'm satisfied for my first attempt at this sort of thing!
Gotta gloss the armor, satin the silhouette, and finish painting the weapons
Old school tip, quick shine floor polish is a great and cheap gloss coat
I should have taken better before pictures but you can see that after using the floor polish the scratches I had from sanding are gone and things look more translucent! Dump it in and wick off excess. This was 2 dunks with a minute of dry time. I always use it on clear pieces, I keep my actual gloss products for final top coats.
Love a metallic silhouette. Let's finish this thing
Supplies are all here. Time to finish the blue eyes project. Everything is primed and the first round of metallics is done. Gonna use some tape to do little bits of color separation here and there.
I want to pull off a blue to white gradient on the blue eyes pieces. Want the blue in the recesses and shadows, and a glossy white on top of that. Never tried it but this has been a project of firsts so 🤷
Gonna go for a pure gloss white on the armor pieces that aren't from blue eyes.
Matte white on the side skirts with midnight purple underneath as an homage to Kaiba's iconic jacket. Though on some pictures the inside is red.
Wings are... gonna be a problem. There wasn't a way to gap fill without gluing the membrane and locking it there. I'll cross that bridge when I get there.
Weapom color scheme as of now undecided, but I picked up the assassin class up so I could paint the 3 swords in it to be the 3 swords of revealing light as his defense option.
Needed a break from the main project and finished the wings and started the weapons on this guy
Combining the lance with the axe as an homage to the lance and axe the Flugel had, and then detail up the shield and weapon. Then back to blue eyes!
Pivoted on the blade
Sword mostly done now. I have some details to do and now I need to sculpt tiny eyelids and face folds with putty, but this has been a great learning experience
WIP Scratch build sword update. Handle finished.
Got to make some significant progress. I like the mix of parts for the handle and the square and segmented grip makes it feel really solid in the hands of the kit. The handle being so long does make me feel like the blade should be like 50% bigger though.
This took like 4 hours
And it's not even close to done. Scratch building a sword for the custom I'm working on. Meant to look like a wing coming out of a mouth. I still need to:
Add details with tamiya putty and sand
Sand blue eyes head to be round and smooth
Make the fork face frills
Figure out a handle.
Im tired boss
Waiting on paints, started my next project. There's something here, I'll figure it out
Sheik mainland 3 min project sorcerer hands and necrosknight seemed like a solid pair! Gonna add some boney parts and change up some armor but i do love the presence the hand wings gives it!
I wish Archer had matching armor pieces
Fully loaded out it might be my favorite base armor
Progress pics from putty to close to paint ready! 30mf dragoon class blue eyes white dragon
Double dragon. I think i found my armor lay out. Weapons and paint next.
I like the mix of dragonia and lancer together. I think I'll end up using the 2 together in the competition. I might make a matching chest plate but kind of dig the sharp angles of the armor as is.
Thanks for following along thus far! Probably won't see me post as much until it's finished!
Critique and thoughts welcome.
Which one?
Sorc shoulders make pretty good boxing gloves tbh.
Also would scratch building a blue eyes sword be crazy?
Thought I'd give you guys some interesting poses. Which combo of armor should I go for? My dragonia knight comes tomorrow so I might use some pieces from that too.
Any and all critique welcome.
WIP Blue Eyes White Dragon Armor for 30MF
Been making a kit bash of the Figure Rise Amplified Blue Eyes and the 30 Minutes Fantasy Lancer. Just used some putty on the inside of the plates to make sure the hard points are at the right angle. Will tighten them with another hit of putty. Gonna paint the whole thing to be cohesive. Working on weapons. Thinking I'll forego a shield. Please share any thoughts or ideas. Really new to the whole kitbashing thing so just sort of figuring it out as I go!
Got finished adding all the pegs and holes to the armor pieces so it's compatible with the line
No more ticky tack! Also made a rig for his back to support the wings but 1000% gonna need a stand. I like that the sorcerer waist armor reminds me of Kaiba's iconic jacket. Still figuring out the lay out of armor but I made a matching set in case I want to go fully symmetrical. Everything is using the existing hard points on the silhouette. I used pieces of runner for pegs, and poly caps that have 3mm holes for holes lol. Lots of super glue and sanding....
Also while messing about it noticed that the sorcerer shoulder armor could make really large dramatic hand guards/ punching weapons so I might do that and change the shoulder. Who knows
Now on to weapons planning and paint scheme.
As always, thoughts ideas and suggestions welcome.
Also for anyone wanting to do something similar, you should! The only kind of expensive thing I've used is a weak dremel tool and that will just save you time. Any questions are welcome.
