Am I able to apply for jobs in the uk before getting a visa?

So I almost got a study visa in the uk back in 2023 but it fell through at the last minute as I was having trouble with finding housing. I very much regret not going and now I’m thinking of looking at jobs in London. I know the process is easier than it used to be since under the old system a foreigner couldn’t get a work visa unless they already offered the job to a British citizen. Now it requires sponsorship. Is this something you need to get before you apply? Or do you apply, get a job offer and then apply for a visa? I have my masters degree and about 4 years of professional experience so I don’t think it’s impossible. I’m by no means an immigration expert so I’m not too privy on how all of this works.

Forgot to include Robinhood form on taxes.

I traded some stocks in 2025. Usually I have someone file my taxes for me but this year I did it myself. I suddenly remembered that I did use robinhood and I went on my account and pulled up the consolidated 1099 form. I had a net loss of -13.12. Do I still need to file an amended return?

Why is there such a stigma behind filing for bankruptcy?

I have noticed that alot of people seem to think that filing for bankruptcy makes you some sort of borderline criminal, a loser or irresponsible. shit happens though, Sometimes you take on debt and think you can pay it back but circumstances change and you’re genuinely insolvent. Some people are one paycheck away from being on the street and homeless and are being harassed by creditors and are at risk of having a huge chunk of it taken out from a garnishment so sometimes you have to do what you have to do. It’s why we have this system and not debtors prisons anymore.

Am I screwed?

During Covid I was dealing with health issues and couldn’t work so I decided to go back to school. I ended up taking out 4 different Sallie Mae loans for grad school at 15% interest. I figured I would be able to pay them after graduation but now Sallie Mae is demanding a 2500 payment when I only earn 3600 a month. Turns out By the time I graduated about 50,000 in interest had piled up and I had to take a forbearance where another 15k in interest piled up. Tried refinancing and was denied, Sallie Mae is absolutely unwilling to work with me whatsoever so I’ve found myself in a bit of a mess. I also have federal student loans but I am able to get on an affordable repayment plan for those. I have a small amount of credit card debt and 23,500 left on my car loan which I’m current on. The main problem for me debt wise is the private student loan.

Now I know student loans don’t go away in bankruptcy except for an undue hardship discharge and some lawyers won’t even bother on student loans. In fact I haven’t seen any case where a court actually discharged someone’s private student loans. I was told by friends and family to seriously consider filing because this isn’t something I could side gig my way out of at this point. So It feels like I’m utterly screwed now and have no options at all to figure this out.

Can you move or get a visa if you have US debt?

One option I am looking at is getting a job in the UK or Germany but I have a lot of student loan debt, some of which is private so you can’t get on any reasonable repayment plans. Is it legal to move when you have debt? Or would it stop you from getting a work visa in other countries?

31 years old. Deep in debt and need a path forward.

I have a ton of private student loans. I owe a lot more than I originally took out, about 173000 now as opposed to 105,000 I originally took out over 3 years. I was not required to make payments in school. I’m in a hardship forbearance that ends next month. Interest rate is 15% because I applied when I didn’t have much income without a co-signer. I was young, very naive and thought I would be able to find a good job after graduation to pay it off. I suppose it could have been worse as I finished my masters degree and was genuinely trying to further my education and improve my life and just fell victim to the loan sharks as opposed to someone who takes out massive car loans for luxury vehicles and can’t pay them or racks up massive credit card debt buying random bullshit.

To be honest I would prefer to just pay this thing off over filing for bankruptcy. It saves me and my family from having to deal with repeated harassment from debt collectors, increasing interest, late fees, lawyer fees and having to be grilled under oath about how much I make per month by a bankruptcy trustee with a chance they still don’t go away. At the present moment, I earn 3600 every month after taxes and retirement which is enough to support myself but I absolutely can’t afford the 2500 loan payment along with living expenses. I have a total of 18,000 in vested funds in my 401k. I tried to refinance the loans and was denied probably due to my income and I have a feeling they aren’t going to let me pause payments anymore. Obviously this would require increasing my income but I’m trying to figure out how. I’ve considered creating a YouTube channel, creating a tik tok account, tutoring, even crowdsourcing but I would prefer not to do this because while perfectly legal, I feel genuinely uncomfortable asking others to donate their hard earned money to pay my debt since it’s my responsibility. What is the best possible path to make consistent payments on this? If I made 100k a year I could while maintaining my current living situation. If I tutored for 12 hours a week I could make up the difference and still afford living expenses.

Need strategies for paying massive private student loan debt

To be honest I would prefer to just pay this thing off over filing for bankruptcy. Need strategies for getting out of private student loan debt.

To be honest I would prefer to just pay this thing off over filing for bankruptcy. It saves me and my family from having to deal with repeated harassment from debt collectors, increasing interest, late fees and having to be grilled under oath about how much I make per month by a bankruptcy trustee and spend thousands in legal fees with a chance they don’t even go away. At the present moment, I earn 3600 every month after taxes and retirement which is enough to support myself but I absolutely can’t afford the 2500 loan payment along with living expenses. Got sick of using dating apps and I came across this subreddit so I figured I would give it a try. One of the main issues I have with dating apps is just how superficial it can be. Even when I start talking to someone, the conversations often turn painfully dry and surface level and I find myself carrying the conversation. The problem is I crave not only physical intimacy but also emotional intimacy. In all of the relationships I have been in, Usually I can tell pretty early on if I click with someone because I won’t have to carry the conversation, it won’t be dry, we will have things in common and it will progress from there.

I’ve been single for almost 2 years now, I’m 31, will be 32 in July, I live by myself and I work full time. I have no kids, I have been in long term relationship before but kids never came from them although I will say it’s a major life goal of mine. I am a bit of an introvert but once I feel comfortable with someone, I am the most loyal, down to earth, big hearted person you’ll ever meet and I can get attached easy if they make me happy. I always go above and beyond for the people I care about and I never take them for granted. I just want someone who is willing to go beyond just surface level conversation, and is genuinely interested in getting to know me. Someone I can confide in who will be my best friend and who understands me on a deep level. Someone who will be ultimately be there for me even through all of the horrible things that happens in life and I can do the same for them.

As far as age range goes, I am looking for around 22-35 and I don’t mind if you have kids.

If you are looking for something similar feel free to message me and send me a picture and tell me about yourself. Unlike dating apps, it’s a gamble on what someone looks like on Reddit so let’s not waste each other’s time.

So I graduated with my MPA degree about a year ago. I have worked in state government for the last 3 years but I’m interested in transitioning to the private sector. Through my job I get a tuition waiver where if I take classes at our main university, tuition is free up to 6 hours per semester. They have an online mpa program and also an evening program for those like me who work full time and the tuition waiver only applies to the evening program. I am thinking an mba may increase my earning potential and I could potentially come away with it without breaking the bank or getting into more debt.

Basically I made some poor financial decisions in my 20s but I’m trying to get my shit together and take control of my student loans. I ended up getting my masters degree in May of last year. I take home about 3600 a month but I’m trying to get a better paying job. I have both federal and private loans and plan on doing the RAP plan once it becomes available in july. I took out mostly private loans from Sallie Mae for grad school and they gave me the loans without a co signer but the trade off was, I got an extremely high interest rate. The interest rates on my 4 loans are around 15%. So I originally borrowed in total around 105k over 3 years and now the balance has ballooned to 173k. Sallie Mae wants me to pay them about 2500 a month which is simply not possible with my current salary.

After graduation, They gave me 6 months grace period and at the end of the grace period interest capitalized. I chatted with a Sallie Mae rep and basically said hey I cannot pay this, this is what I make every month and this is what I can afford etc. so they gave me 6 months of hardship forbearance which ends soon. I have a strong feeling if I do the same thing they are going to tell me to kick rocks this time and if that happens I may have to miss payments and once it goes into collections I heard they are more likely to settle on the balance. My mom offered to help me with any settlement but idk how much money she has or if she actually can.
