SeptoRhinoplasty almost 2 years post op.

The asymmetry in my nose always existed even before the surgery. The asymmetry was one of the main reasons i got the nose job. Im super happy with the side angles but my nose looks so crooked in pictures still and the front view is the more devastating for me. I really do not want go get another nose job and risk the good things about this nose job. For example i can breath very well, and its a super natural result. And i cant fathom spending 15000 again. But the right nostril being lower than the left is so ugly. Could this actually be fixed or is thus a result of cartilage memory.

What should I do to help my brother?

Found out my brother was S/A ‘ed at a friends birthday party when he was 8. He is now 23 and a alcoholic. He told my mother a year and a half ago and my mother decided to tell me and my sister yesterday. I am so angry and dont know what to do. My brother is not aware me and my sister know of this, and he told my mother to never tell anyone. What should we do? Is this the reason hes drinking so much?

Hypothyroidism in pregnancy

So I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism at the age of 17. At that time my doctor had informed me that the issue was minor and I could adjust my lifestyle to ensure I do not gain substantial weight. Ive been pretty active my whole life so ive always maintained a very healthy body.

But recently I got pregnant. All my blood work was good. Except for my thyroid came back high. Which was odd. I was about 6 weeks pregnant at that time. My doctor sent me to a specialist and I got blood work again. This time at 11 weeks and it came back slightly low again, which was my norm.

I was prescribed 50mcg levothyroxine but I did not start taking it up until 21 weeks. My reasoning was that i was awaiting my very first OB appointment and wanted to ask her and get blood work again just incase it would turn up normal. Well it didn’t because my OB said its slightly low and she recommended me start taking that levothyroxine.

Im currently 22 weeks but I’m so worried now that I made the wrong decision to wait so long to take the medication. I know its no ones fault but mine but will my baby have developmental issues or any cognitive issues because of this? Im just freaking out. Im a nurse but I’m not invincible. Sometimes I also need to be the patient. Please comment and anybody who has faced similar issues please reassure me somehow i dont want to stress about this anymore. I just want to be sure i did not damage my babies health in any way.

Anti vaccine or Pro vaccine?

I have a friend who is someone I occasionally hang out with here and there. Like me, she is a registered nurse. She is also married to my husbands close friend, which is how I got to know her better over the last couple year. Well I recently told her that me and my husband are expecting our first baby. She was super exited for me and even shed a few tears of joy.

Recently me, my husband and she and her husband went to the movies together. She and I decided to sit together and my husband and her husband were next to each other. The hubbies go off to buy the goodies and she proceeded to lean in and ask me out of the blue, “are you going to be
one of those anti vax mom?” I respectfully
responded “no”

To add more context: I have never spoke about being against vaccines ever. It was really weird that she asked me that. Also, looking back, when I told her about my pregnancy she immediately began saying “me and my husband are probably going to have a baby next year too” which I highly celebrated with her aswell. But their situation is a bit hard as she had to move back to new york because they have mo social supports here to help with a potential baby. Her hubby is currently waiting for his approval for k1 and they are going to have to wait atleast another year or two for kids. I feel super bad for her as I could see the sadness in her eyes before she left. But im curious maybe my friend was displaying a little bit of envy for the fact that me and my husband are having kids and they still have to wait atleast another couple years. So maybe she is acting weird because of that. Or am i reading too far into it.

How did respond to other woman trying to convince/scare you that motherhood will be harder once the baby is here while you’re pregnant with your first blessing?

Has anyone here had other women who have already had children come up to you and say certain things that pissed you off? For example I was working the other day and my co-workers just figured out im pregnant and once I shared with them I slept a good 9 hours before my night shift they immediately started saying to me. Well sleep while you can because once the baby is here you wont get that… its like can I please just enjoy my pregnancy without other women rubbing off their own negative experiences off on other women. Not everyone has the same experiences it’s so diverse and just because yours wasn’t what you wanted. ITS SO ANNOYING… whenever I am happy its another woman trying to scared me in a way about my blessing.

I also had a co-worker tell me. It’ll be better for me to get a c-section. Because then my husband will be happier. Like wtf???? Seriously. I swear I would love to slap some of these women who have the audacity to say this to other women. I feel like other women cant handle other women who aren’t struggling in their pregnancy/motherhood. Like please stop rubbing off your misery on us we are not all miserable in our lives…

Do nurses really make the worst patients?

Ive always heard from co-workers that healthcare workers who have been on the other side of healthcare end up being the worst patients. I personally would feel like i would be a better patient because I understand how hard nurses work. Whats your opinions and own experiences on this matter?
