I recently started learning the clarinet (B flat) and my cat is having a strange reaction to it. I practice in my bedroom, and whenever I do she comes in the room, but hides under the bed, all the way against the wall (by the headboard). She never hides under the bed for anything so it’s very odd.
I do have some previous sax experience from years ago, but I still squeak a bit as a new player. I am a little worried she is scared or put off by the sound of my playing.
The thing is, she is PRICELESS to me and her happiness is extremely important, but I am not that attached to the B flat clarinet. Should I think about making a change? Have been considering moving to bass clarinet or cello, to avoid some of the higher notes. I like the sound of them too.
Anyone else here have a cat? How do they react when you practice at home? Any advice would be appreciated!
One of his most beautiful works. Tchaikovsky wrote it while grieving the sudden death of his sister. It was originally for the Nutcracker suite, but wasn't included in the final ballet because it didn't fit the tone of the other pieces. I happen to agree; it's special as a standalone piece.
Performed here by the Munich Philharmonic, conducted by Valery Gergiev.
I have the Ursa Minor throttle with the desk mount from Winwing. It is a heavy-duty mount and works well enough, but having no floor support means it can sag at the back. This made it annoying to use the spoilers and parking brake because I didn’t want to press down too hard and put stress on the mount, or cause it to sag further.
That problem is now solved! With some free scrap wood, I made a basic stand to support the back section and it works great. Using the throttle now feels 10x more solid than before.
The top piece is a 3.75” square piece of plywood, which slots perfectly into the bottom part of the Winwing mount. The base is 5” square. Length of the middle piece will depend on your desk height, but mine was 20.75”. I simply put a couple of screws on either end, and some felt pads on the bottom.
I might make a more refined version of this later, but just wanted to start very simple. I would recommend this to anyone with this throttle!
I did this and it improved the infotainment immensely! This is how it was meant to be. It is SO much more snappy and quick to respond. I used to occasionally get glitches with the audio cutting out or CarPlay not connecting. Those are gone. It's so much faster to start the backup camera or CarPlay when I start the car. As a bonus, I have the HK audio system and the sound is much improved, with much stronger bass. This is a 2022 model.
For reference, my previous software version was 1880 and the one I updated to is 1985. I would recommend this version specifically; based on my research it's reported to be very stable.
I've requested updates at the dealer before, but they gave me the runaround. So I found this great how-to guide on VWVortex. The only cost to me was purchasing a USB-C flash drive, since I didn't already have one.
Please only attempt this if you stick to the exact procedure in the guide! Following the steps are important. But if you're even slightly DIY-savvy I would highly recommend this.
