If i wear running shoes or chuck taylors is it basically a guaranteed rolled ankle?

My wife and I are basically broke, wr were gifted 2 tennis rackets. I like the idea of tennis cause its basically free to play and its a nice couples activity that we can use as our cardio.

I dont wanna but tennis shoes just yet, we will need to wait atleast 2-4 months before because we have other obligations that we are throwing every extra dollar at.

In the meantime i still want to play. Is it better to wear a high top “70s basketball shoe” (chuck taylor) since it kind goes around the ankle sorta… OR should i wear my running shoes (which are higher off fhe ground cause of the foam and seem to be more designed for running?)

My gut says go with the chuck taylor because i know (despite being a FLAT peice of rubber glues to some canvas) basketball players of the 70s (& rocky!) used to survive professional basketball in those shoes. Whereas the runners while modern seem like lateral moves might be unstable (cause theyre higher off ground and plushier aka less positive ground contact in the sole)

That said, never played tennis before in my life. So would love some input on my hypothesis
