I am a beginning farmer who just moved to the Springs recently. I am looking to set up a small aquaponics farm in town. I will give you a free aquaponics set-up, a greenhouse, and all the knowledge that I have in exchange for a place to put the greenhouse and farm.

If you can let me use your land, water, and electricity (which I'll pay for), and allow me to use it daily for about 4 months, I will gift you all of it.

I need accurate grow numbers so I open a commercial aquaponics farm somewhere else in town. The greenhouse is approximately 8' x 12'.

Let's grow some food together. First preference is on the Westside, Manitou, downtown areas. But all will be considered.

I’ve been working really hard for months on my pumpkin patch and saw that one of my pumpkins was stolen off of the vine. If it was you or someone you know, can you please bring it back?

The hail did a number on the Patch last night. All of the fruits are fine but several plants were ripped to shreds and won’t recover. It was fun while it lasted.

It’s been unexpectedly rainy which caused an outbreak of powdery mildew in my pumpkin patch. I’ve researched methods on here, YouTube, and TikTok and I’ve sprayed the tops and bottoms of the leaves with a heavily diluted baking soda, soap solution. In my searches, I couldn’t find a consensus on how bad PM is for the plants. Some say it’s primarily a cosmetic issue and some say it took down their whole crop. I’ve been trying to fight it back for about a week now and it seems like it’s only getting worse. Am I smashed? What are your experiences?

It’s been a little more than a month since I posted about my pumpkin patch. I’ve officially lost one plant via accidental decapitation (it came back as one lil leaf and isn’t technically dead though), and I think one of my plants is sterile after losing a big baby to what I think was blossom end rot. I’ve gotten more little sprouts from stray seeds but I don’t think they’re going to grow into anything. We also have one zucchini imposter so far.

It turns out that I do not live in an area with Squash Vine Borers, so that’s been great. I had a small problem with cucumber beetles and earwigs that went away when I dusted with DE and put up sticky traps. My neighborhood has at least one bobcat family and a bunch of stray cats so I haven’t had any rodent problems yet either.

We covered the ground with 50/50 manure mulch blend and installed drip line (cannot believe I was ever hand watering.) I also put up a few small trellises that have all been quickly overtaken but I’m glad at least some are off the ground.

I think I was overzealous with pruning a couple weeks ago. Some of my plants have 1-2 lovely thick vines but others have 4-6 spindly thin vines that are only producing male flowers. I don’t know what to do about those yet other than wait and see. I’ve been experimenting with fertilizers but am also afraid of overdoing it.

Still appreciate any advice and insight from the experts and enthusiasts!

First time planting anything other than a few flowers. When I moved in the yard was just weeds so I took out everything in the yard and thought it would be fun to plant a few pumpkins. They were doing really well so I thought I would just plant a couple more. Then I didn’t have the heart to thin my seedlings so I gently transplanted them to their own mounds (and gave them their own umbrellas to help them settle in). Mentally, I was very confident that I had 24 total plants but this morning I counted and we are at 64 confirmed plants.

I spaced my mounds 3-4 ft apart on a sloppy grid because that’s what Google AI said would be okay when I first researched the project. Upon further, actual research as well as posts here I realize that I probably underestimated the space needs for each plant. Will it be detrimental to the total crop to just let er rip or do I need to make some Sophie’s choices?
