Hello!! 11 months sober here. Was just curious if there was any good discord groups that you guys recommend? I can really only find AA focused discord channels and would prefer one that wasn’t AA focused.

A bit ago my coworker and I were talking about current books being read. He mentioned that his book club is reading the first book of the Bobiverse, and as I was about to say that I was about 25% in and liking it so far he goes “it’s one of the worst book I’ve ever read I don’t know if I’m going to be able to power through this thing”.

He goes on to mention that it’s due to the fact that Bob is mentioning and wrestling with a lot of really complicated sci-fi concepts (van neuman probes, replication, quantum physics, etc.) and the way the writing style is just glancing over them so quickly without actually going into detail about just how significant the actual topics are. The fact that he can bring up something so significant and then just “lean back and sip his coffee” is infuriating to him. Another thing he mentioned is he doesn’t like how the author “is just writing himself as the main character” and the fact that there are no other characters besides him were other things thrown out there.

I just finished the 5th book and…. Ok I GET that there is some cringe to the writing style. But here’s my thoughts: I actually love the concept of bringing up huge ground breaking things in such a casual manner as it really adds to the weight of bobs immortality. The concept of them discovering these huge, mind blowing things and just going “welp, that’s another thing in our life now” is what I think is so great. Sure, the author could sit there and go into the gnitty gritty of van neuman probes and other complex topics, but also… smart writing doesn’t need to sit there and handhold/explain to you the significance of the science. The desire for more explanation/deeper dives into the science behind it is not showing that you are too smart for the book, but rather the opposite IYAM. It seems like some people just can’t sit down and read a more light hearted book.

Anyway, just figured I’d put this here cause I just finished the fifth book and I happened to remember the conversation.

I have an X4 running Crosspoint. I have noticed that there are certain EPUBs that I download that wont seperate chapters when I load them onto my device.... in the bottom right corner, Instead of telling me "there are 80 page turns for this chapter remaining" itll say "there are 3,000+" which I can only assume is emcompassing the whole book. When I go to the navigation and try to select a certain chapter, it will just take me to the front of the book. It also wont distinguish between each chapter when I get to it - almost like it thinks the whole book is the first chapter.

Anyone run into this and have a fix?

Hello! I was checking the website for the rennaisance fair that is supposed to be out in caldwell, however it has said "day TBD" for a while now..... since its July now, I was really hoping they would announce the day. Does anyone know any info on this? when they would announce, or if they have already and just didnt update the website?

I apologize if this might not fit this community but I was curious about something.

I have found I am completely addicted to my iPhone. Like, my screen time can be a full time job on some days. I can’t seem to shake the mindless pick ups and scrolls throughout the day.

I sort of realized, with the new phone plan I switched to I can do cellular on my Apple Watch for a minimal amount more a month. This got me thinking: why not just keep my phone at home and use my watch for the things you actually need: texts and calls. If I do this right, my iPhone can just sit on a charger for the vast majority of the days and really only used for things when they come to it.

Does anyone in here do this sort of setup?

Im having a tough time getting my x4 connected to my free2 page turner I just bought..... nothing im doing seems to work. Is there anyone that would be willing to help me?

I've put it in pairing mode and have tried all 4 modes, the device does not seem to want to find it when I scan..... someone told me there are two pairing modes on the free2 - one where it flashes yellow and one where it flashes blue. Mine flashes yellow and I havent been able to get it to flash blue
