Need advice (English/Italian)

Hi, I'm Italian and my partner is American but we live in Denmark. Our son is 19 months old, is exposed to Danish in daycare, Italian from me and English from my partner and also from us two adults when we speak together.

Our baby has picked up his main words in English primarily and Danish. We leave the Danish to the daycare, we dont speak it with him.

My issue: I struggle to get the Italian in, as when he points at things and says the words in English, for instance "car!" or "apple", I don't want to not reinforce him as he's saying something right so I say "yeah, car! macchina" or "Apple! mela!" but he seems to ignore the Italian and only repeat the English word.

Am I doing this wrong?

I'd like to know how it is best to proceed given he shows preference for the language he hears the most around us and that he's just starting to speak

Thank you! Grazie! Mange tak! 🇺🇸🇮🇹🇩🇰

How do you deal with yourself

I read plenty on how to deal with a toddler during a tantrum. But how do YOU regulate yourself so that you can stay calm. Please help we have hit 18 months and it's Tantrum City right here 🙏🏼

Planning a move

Ola¡ ❣️ We are an Italian couple with a 1.5 years old baby planning to move from Copenhagen to Barcelona in 5 years.

I know, its in a long time..but i was wondering if you could guide me in what are the essential things I should know about the city and the move beforehand.

We are planning for another baby before moving also (if it will happen).

Muchas gracias a todos

Best results on Copenaghen balconies 🌱

Hey fellow Copenhageners, Any of you have real success with plants on their balcony that thrive all year around or come back when their season is right?

I know that it all depends from the geographical orientation of the balconies and therefore their sun exposure but I'd like to know something about:

🟢What planters boxes (big rectangular ones placed on the floor) are good for this weather?

🟢What plants do you REALLY have succes with?

🟢Any other advice for a newbie?

I ordered a book in Danish and I'm looking on the web too but I'd love to hear from real people living in this city.

Ps. I live in Islands Brygge, first floor, have a balcony facing South West, and other facing North East.

Mange tak ❤️🌱

Demolishing our ears 👂

Ok. This is a weird one.

My son's thing is ears. Since about 4 months to this day (currently 15 months) his comfort thing is to touch ears. Not his own but ours. Mines (mom) are the favourites, then dad's and even his daycare teachers get some ear crashing but not as much.

It is so intense that he does it every single time he needs to go down for a nap, if he has a middle of the night wake up or whenever he's tired. I'm happy to bring him comfort but it hurts SO MUCH.

My ears (the top part especially) are so sore and get no time to recover that I have two kind of small bubble full of liquid in my top ear like some sort of cushioning reaction from my body as a consequence and I'm afraid I basically have cauliflower ears and it will never get re-absorbed.

I know of kids that play with their own ears for comfort but the internet and my friends group doesn't say anything about this other issue.

Anyone else in my situation? Does it get better?

Will my ears go back to normal?

Thank you

Hi, my little one is 14 months old and for a week now we have been introducing strawberries to his breakfast (which is a banana + blueberries + some kid friendly no sugar cookies). He LOVES the strawberries. We wanted to keep it until they are not in season any longer (we live in Europe).

I was Facetiming my mother during breakfast today and she said "Careful, don't give strawberries every day. They are a powerful allergen so it will harm him".

My mom was a nurse but also a boomer that was dipping my paci in honey when I was little 👀

I know strawberries are an allergen, but I thought that once it is introduced and there is no allergy it is ok to have it for a while?

Am I wrong? thank you!
