Bug identification?

Hello! My catnip, Rosemary, and basil seem to have some kind of infestation. It was very difficult to get photos since they’re so small and my phone doesn’t want to focus on them. I’ve put up some traps as you can see above

Info: I’m in Kentucky in the US near ish to a river but still in a city. The plants have been indoors for like 99% of its growth. I’ve taken it outside on our porch three times on days that aren’t very hot. However I also open the window frequently so the bugs may have slipped in then

Anyone have any good reads about cats in ancient Egypt?

Dua Bast!!

I saw a post on Instagram about cat facts that included some about cats in ancient Egypt

I’m curious if anyone knows some good sources to read about cats in ancient Egypt? Literally anything about cats in ancient Egypt. How they were treated, what they ate, how they view them, etc

Can you do nightly readings to improve?

So, for daily one card readings in the morning you can ask how your day will go yeah? But that can be difficult to interpret throughout the day

Can you instead do daily readings at night? That way you can better reflect how your day went and connect it to the card after the fact?

Anyone know much about historical “treatments” for trans people?

Arguing with someone about “treatment” for us. I want to know what older research there is out there about ways they tried to “fix” us.

Basically, the argument they’re giving is: there hasn’t been enough research into things outside of gender affirmation. They seem to not be pro conversion therapy, just “want to explore other treatments”. They gave the comparison to kids born without limbs. Something “must cause it” so we should find a way to “fix it”. Like we could magically give us something that will change the part of our brain that makes us trans.

I’m not rlly arguing with them that we shouldn’t be fixed. Ppl like this aren’t just gonna be down with that statement. So, I’m looking for the “well here’s what theyve done in the past, which didn’t work, so we now know the best option is affirmation”

Also, what has been done to look for a “cause”? I know there’s current theories about hormones in utero. But I wanna know what stupid theories there were that have been proven false. Did some nut job go “oh there must be a transgender lobe in the brain!!!” just to be disproven? Think stuff like that

Do I pinch off the small leaves of this catnip?

The small leaves at the bottom

Background growth info: so I originally planted seeds in this pot with the soil only half full not knowing the error of doing so. As a result they grew tall quickly with very thin and frail stems. I carefully removed them in the soil, filled it up, and replanted them. Since they were so thin they started falling over and I put up some sticks to help them. They were veryyyy weak hence so many of them bc they kept falling over, I’m removing some of the sticks as they get stronger

After a few days of this I discovered I could cover the bottom of the stems with more soil (where the plant was weakest) to help it. Theyve gotten much better since!! However I’m noticing the leaves at the bottom are quite small. I’ve heard pinching these off might help it grow. Is this accurate? Will doing so help its growth any?

My hands hurt, help

TLDR: I’ve lost fat in my hands and they’re sore a lot, like more than when I was working out and still had fat in my hands. I’ve stopped working out lately. First the soreness was bc of typing for school, but theyve continued despite taking the summer off and typing less. Google is suggesting it could be due to fat loss providing less cushion in my hands as far as why it wasn’t as bad of an issue before. What can I do to combat this? Has anyone else had this issue?

So I’ve lost a little over 20 pounds in the past two and a half years. I’m no longer like actively trying to lose weight when it comes to exercise, I’m not lifting weights, and I’m maintaining a calorie deficit but not “eating right” as far as trying to eat more fruits and veggies goes

I’ve noticed I’ve lost fat in my hands and I’m worried it’s part of why my hands are hurting so much. Less cushion. Like even when I was avidly working out my hands werent hurting like this. Is there anything I can do to help prevent it?

I first started noticing it when I started college this January, as I was suddenly typing much more. However I took the summer off and I am still having this issue despite using my hands less. Within the past few months I’ve noticed my hands have gotten significantly less fat. Like I have “man hands” now where I can see my veins and bones when I couldnt before

The pain is usually the palms below the thumb and middle of the palm. Both hands, usually one at a time which is odd

Another factor may be the new phone case I have. I got one that protects better so it’s made my phone wider, and I have small hands, so I’m having to like awkwardly stretch my thumbs sometimes. The case is also heavier now

What would y’all recommend? Any stretches that can help? Anyone else have this issue??

Storing banana peels without mold?

Hello! I’m trying to store banana peels until I have several and can dehydrate them all at once for fertilizer. How can I store them in the meantime to avoid mold?

I’ve seen online I can freeze them in a ziploc freezer bag, but unfortunately I don’t have any and money is a bit tight.

String of sexual assaults on west broadway?

String of sexual assaults on/near west/east broadway*. Just realized two of them were past the divide

5/10, 5/26, 5/28. First two are listed as highway/road/alley/street/sidewalk. Third is in a residence/home. Does anyone know any details abt this? Like do they have a suspect? Three sexual assaults in one area within 18 days seems connected, and concerning

Shit is awful. Last time I looked at the crime map months back I didn’t even notice that sexual assaults were documented on it. Hope the sick bastard(s) get caught and I wish the victims well. I’m sure theyve got a rough road ahead of them.

Are there many Native American farmers?

Disclaimer: any demographic can be farmers obviously, I’m just asking if anyone is aware of if there’s a significant portion/know ppl who have farms

The few shows I’ve seen that show reservations dont feature any farmers, although this is only a few examples and Hollywood isn’t necessarily accurate

Obviously at one point farming was essential. A lot of fields with crops in America feature foods native to the Americas, so it made me wonder if there are still Native American farmers and how significant farming is or isn’t. Are there still natives that farm? Either for personal use or commercial?

[USA] those in PhD/PsyD programs, how many years did it take?

How many years of schooling combined did it take you to get to a PhD/PsyD program? Did you complete your associates and bachelors in the 2 year and 4 year time frame? If you got a masters before applying for your program, how long did it take you?

To those that achieved it in fewer years, how did you manage to juggle school, maintaining grades, getting experience, working outside of school, and having extracurricular activities?

To any PhD/PsyD students: what do you regret doing/not doing?

I have some questions about Alzheimer’s (especially historical)

What’s the earliest likely case of Alzheimer’s in written history?

Has Alzheimer’s always existed? Like has it been a phenomenon possible to occur since humanity came to be (as far as we know/theorize)?

Was Alzheimer’s just seen as “normal aging” before it was “discovered” to be a medical condition?

What happened to people with Alzheimer’s before? I assume if it occurred back in like hunter gatherer times the group would just help take care of them. But what about industrial times? Was it just family who cared for them? What if they didn’t have family? Or their family wasn’t around?

Has it always been called Alzheimer’s? Why is it called that? Is it one of those conditions named after the founder?

What are the current known “causes” of Alzheimer’s? Or things (ex: poor diet, isolation, smoking cigarettes, drinking) that we’ve discovered are associated with risk of developing it?

What are the medical treatments for it and how do they work?

What, if anything, can be done to prevent it?

Murry’s body has been found

Posted it earlier but the link fucked up. Someone posted about him when he was missing, so I wanted to post the update. If anyone does a vigil for him here in Louisville please post about it. I’m thinking about asking the local queer orgs if they plan on doing one but idk if it’s best to wait until more is known or not

Shit hurts. Please hug your trans loved ones if you have any. The community is hurting rn.

Same age as me.

Increased anxiety about being trans in public

Cw- discussions of hate crimes, current missing persons case, transphobia

A trans college student has recently gone missing in my state and it’s fucking with my anxiety

To clarify, there is currently no known evidence that this person was targeted for being trans. Their car, phone, and bag have been found so this points to likely some kind of foul play. They never made it to class the day they went missing.

I hope they’re okay. Something in my gut says they’re not but I hope I’m wrong. I hope he is found safe.

I started my first semester of college this year. I have many, many more years of school. I am “visibly” trans. I’m called male pronouns but I’m pretty certain at least some people can tell. I use the bus a lot too. Im also short, so not very intimidating. I’m not like terrified unable to leave my house or anything but it’s just something that likes to keep popping up now and again in my mind. Fear.

I don’t know how to feel about any of it. “Realistically,” I’m probably fine. But plenty of people think that shit too who do end up hurt. Idk. I carry pepper spray, and I know good areas to strike in the event anyone ever comes at me

It’s just depressing this is something we have to worry about.

▲ 7 r/Spells

I know someone who’s treating a loved one awfully. I’m thinking something “return to sender” like?? Essentially, a protection spell that reflects negativity, ill will, and harmful intentions back at the person who wants to do harm.

Open to suggestions on phrases to use as well as materials. I currently have some black candles I would like to use for it, and am open to purchasing whatever I need for it

I ofc will be doing a lot of planning before actually casting

Thank y’all sm

3/3 was when i received the item, and then the last pic is today. Very disappointed that it isn’t very durable. The seller was nice and fairly respectful but im still a little upset. I can’t edit my review either (it’s not possible after the seller has responded) to clarify how quickly that this is fading, as well as how this isn’t a result of like showering with it on or anything

I always remove all jewelry when I shower, and I do try to make sure the necklace is above my shirt to minimize sweat exposure

But basically, if you plan to actually wear the piece and not just bring it out of a jewelry box on occasion, I wouldn’t recommend it :(. It’s absolutely beautiful but is not made to last

Edit: it was stainless steel, which doesn’t tarnish easily, with the color of the piece being black originally. Now it’s a light gray. Again I love the piece sm and no hate to the maker, I just wanted to warn ppl since I had someone ask about a link to the piece. If you want one, be selective about how much you wear it and put a protective coating on it. Varnish is what I’ve been told is good for it !
