So I just want to start out by saying I wasn't baptized in the Catholic Church. I went to Catholic schools most my life and my father grew up Catholic.

Many years ago when I was a kid, my mom's friend (who's a devote Catholic) told me to pray to St. Anthony because I lost my toy. I did do that and I found it. After that I really didn't think too much about it.

Then sometime in high school remembered what my mom's friend had said. I had lost something but I can't remember what. I prayed to St. Anthony and I found what I was looking for. Around that same time I figured out he was one of my high schools patron saint.

After that I did use it occasionally. Once I got into college I started praying to him when I lost something a lot more and I'd always find it. I even told my friends and boyfriend to pray to him if they couldn't find something and it worked for them too. One day I finally told my dad about it, and he said that his father loved St. Anthony and would have statues and prayer cards for him around the house growing up.

I don't know maybe it's all a coincidence or maybe it's something bigger. Has this happened to anyone else? I'm not Catholic. I grew up Baptist but I'm more spiritual now.

So I’m in a very weird stage in my life. Lost all my close friends and got fired from my job. All I do is sit in the house, apply for jobs and rot. What’s something that I can do to make life worth living again? Where can I meet new cool people who like to do things?

But most importantly what’s free or very low cost. No just as of right now, so money is tight…

Is there any pretty, aesthetically pleasing decorated restaurants in Cleveland that have an happy hour? With good drinks of course.

Maybe this is the wrong subreddit to ask, but since everyone on here is so helpful and kind I figured why not make the post.

So how did you guys learn to love yourself?

Crazy thing about this is, I’m like 99% sure I got this job through the first ever ward spell I did which was late May or something. But yea, I have not caught a break this year. On top of everything too, I found out I was pregnant this week. The day after I did the ward, which is obviously something I don’t need right now (please don’t say your opinions on this).

But why is everything feeling like it’s going wrong right now? There’s other personal stuff going on too in my life that I don’t want to say online.

On the piece of paper I burned, I wrote about gaining traction on my social media accounts, making and saving a lot of money, traveling, good genuine friends, and that’s all I can remember. Then I did the spell like normal, how I did it last time. I did it because I know they’re was going to be some shit talking done about me this week. So I wanted to transmute that energy into something good for me.

I noticed recently that I felt like I was gaining weight and I’ve been eating a lot more and craving sweet treats. I took a test today thinking it wasn’t gonna be positive but it was. I’m very new to Hoodoo and still somewhat a beginner in anything spiritual. I’m realizing that this is a learning season for me and I want to be able to do spells for the good of my family, myself and I also want to get back at the people who’ve hurt me or done me wrong this year. I also want to be closer with my ancestors.

I realized that I can’t do any of these things without divination, but I have no idea how to start.

Can you guys share some things you did when you first started divination? Or any tips for beginners? I’d really appreciate it.

Yes I know this is a super random question.

I had gotten into some drama with my friends and they were accusing me of things that didn’t happen and nitpicking the whole weekend. Eventually they ended up cutting me off. 2 weeks later I decided to ward my name but before that I saged my room.

One of my friends that I tried to personally talk to 2 weeks before that didn’t want to talk to me when I reached out. She flat out said no. But when I saged my room she reached out again trying to “confront me” about a lie someone told about me.

I literally mean in the middle of me saging my room, she texted me.

What does that mean? Because I was saging my room to clear my energy before the spell and to make myself feel better. I thought saging is supposed to clear out negativity not draw it back.

Has anyone else experienced this?

So the title is basically the question. How do I practice when I live in a house and have family that don’t support it and shames you for it? My parents don’t know I started practicing Hoodoo as I did my first spell in my room in the middle of the night. I want to make an alter, but I have no place in my house to do that where they won’t see it.

Would it be disrespectful if I put it hidden away in my closet or do you think my ancestors understand? I feel like not being able to openly practice in my home is hindering me learning and building a better relationship with my ancestors.

So about a month ago, I did my first ward. I fell out with my closest friends about a week before that and most of the things they were trying to accuse me of wasn’t true or very nitpicking (part of me feels like they were just waiting for an excuse to cut me off). Anyways I just knew they were talking shit about me and I kept seeing videos on warding your name so I decided to do it. Someone also said when you’re in some drama, that’s the best time to do it.

I called on my ancestors, cleansed my tools, I had no money so I used the cinnamon and salt my mom had in the house and some old plates that I had from college and a janky dollar store candle that I had to put out because the fire got out of control. I asked that when someone uses my name in vain, tarnishing, or being referred to on anyway that I get blessed with gifts, money, job opportunities, etc. I said more but that’s just sums it up.

Anyways over the last month I got invited to a concert, which I didn’t have to pay for anything. I got 2 great job offers, when I had no job I kept getting money. I’m not sure if the money counts tho as I was expecting some of it to come anyways, especially because I just graduated from school.

A couple days after I did the spell I came on this subreddit and the people the commented said they thought it worked, and they were right. I think I might do another one again with a better candle, but I’m happy and it encourages me to do more spells.

I know this is something that happens internally but I can’t seem to make it happen for myself. I don’t really feel good about myself and I feel like it’s also showing on the outside. I’ve had a crazy year so far. I’ve made a lot of mistakes, got attacked and I had to take care of my family while still being in school.

Hi Hoodoo Bitches! 2 nights ago I did my first spell and it was a ward on my name. There’s a lot of lies and gossip about me going around, and around the time it all started I kept seeing other bw on my TikTok talking about how they did there’s and the results that came from it. When I did mine, I’m not sure if it worked or not so I wanted to know what you guys think.

My first step was cleansing all the tools I was using with white sage. I then wrote down my name and intentions on paper and folded it towards me. I used a yellow candle and out olive oil and cinnamon on it then poured it in a bowl and circled it 3 times with cinnamon and salt. I put the paper intention under the candle. I then greeted and ask my ancestors to be with me and then said “under the sound of my voice I put a ward on (my name)” then I said more of my intentions out loud again. I’m not sure if it was because I used a cheap candle or because my ancestors were really with me but the fire got too out of hand so I had to put it out early with water. I then tried to sit and visualize negativity around my name being transformed into positivity being brought into my life and I sat with that for a bit. After that I said “when this paper burns my ward is activated. Anyways the paper didn’t burn all the way, but most of it did. I think it was because some water got on it from when I had to put out the candle. So I ended up cutting the rest of it up. The next morning I thanks my ancestors and threw it away.

Someone please tell me if I did this right or if I should redo it and how? I really need some good luck in my life right now. I’ve faced a lot of trauma this year.
