Anything is a touring bike if you want it to be (over 1000 km in 3 days across BC's Duffey Loop/Coast Mountain Circle on a GSXR 600)

Decided to take my daily commuter (GSXR 600) across the Lower Mainland of BC Canada through Duffey Lake, thought it deserved something other than highways and bumper to bumper traffic. My friend and his GF joined me on his CFMOTO Ibex 800

No throttle lock, no saddle bags, just a heavy ass backpack and pure vibes.

The route was really nice, a lot of scenic views, twisty roads, and sweepers on rural highways with little to no traffic past Pemberton. I recommend everyone in the Pacific Northwest ride this route at some point in their life. I've done the Duffey Loop (a shorter version of this) on a Yamaha R7 solo in 1 day as well.

Thinking back I probably should have gotten at least saddle bags because I was lugging around a 20 lb backpack while we were walking around. Strangely, even after all of this, I did not feel any back pain (guess those back exercises at the gym helped). Most of my pain was in my legs being cramped up. My friend complained about his seat and apparently had a lot of lower back pain, not sure how he would have done in my bike lol.

Have you guys noticed any effect on commuting times due to FIFA?

I commute from near Richmond Brighouse to Kingsway every day for work (I leave at 6:50 and I leave the office at 3:30) and I've noticed the congestion getting worse.

The morning is mostly the same (takes about 20 or so minutes) but the afternoon has gotten noticeably worse. It used to take around 35 minutes but it's frequently been over 45-50 minutes. Knight St bridge is just packed on both sides, when I'm across the bridge I just see lines of cars packed heading towards Vancouver (around 4 PM) to a degree that I've never seen before.

I'm wondering if this is because of the World Cup and if you guys have any similar experiences, thoughts?

Edit: Sorry for using FIFA in the title. Can't seem to edit it though

First GSXR and first new bike in a while, way more comfortable than my old 03 ZX6R

How far are you guys willing to go to access twisty fun roads?

Fun question for you guys, I'm sure you guys can relate, living in a congested city and riding kinda sucks, so we go out further for rides. I have to ride at minimum 1 hour to get to twisty roads with no traffic. For the really good stuff usually it's 2.5-3 hours.

I usually make time every few weeks to spend a day doing stuff like this. Neither of my bikes (03 ZX6R, 24 R7) are comfortable, so it can be quite painful navigating stop and go in narrow lanes (can't lane split physically or legally in many places here).

Can anyone else relate? How far/how long are you guys willing to commute for a nice road and what kind of bike do you guys ride?

Hi everyone, I want to book a track day in my area (Westwood Motorcycle Club in Mission BC) and usually they offer coaches/instructors but I think it sold out because the option is not available anymore. Should I still book my first track day or should I wait for another time where I can get a proper instructor?

I'll be riding there because I do not have a way of towing my bike.

Yesterday I road my R7 for about 10-11 hours on Duffey Loop, I think it’s around 600 km? I was also looking at the iron butt page to see which people have done it and I see certifications for people with bikes like R1, S1000RR, Zx6r, R6.

Now I know the R7 isn’t as aggressive as a 600/1000 (my Zx6r is even more painful to ride) but it is still a pretty sporty position, and my whole body hurts and is sore today lol, I couldn’t even lift my left leg up last night.

How on Earth do people manage to do 1000 miles in 24 hours on these things?
