Help me put together a binder for my sons birthday

My kid has spent a decent amount of time and effort on his collection. He sleeves his cards that he needs to protect (or loves) and keeps them all in a binder. Here’s the thing- it’s a three ring binder. I got him the binder as an upgrade from his duotang with the little metal pieces you bend over the page inserts, as I really didn’t think he was that serious about it and I knew he would want something that’s green to keep his cards in.

His birthday is in September and he’s asked for a bunch of Chinese/korean/jp packs because he knows they’re cheaper and he just wants to add to his collection and open a lot of packs, what he doesn’t know is I’m going to be building him up a very cool binder that he can also learn from. I saw the explore Pokemon sleeves and got a little inspired to add each region and map as the first page for that section, I don’t want to add more than three(?) for each because I want him to enjoy filling it up himself too.

So I’m coming to Reddit for help to narrow down the “best” Pokemon from each region. My son is turning 6 and loves the cute Pokemon, the funny ones and the original 151. His favourites are exeggutor, gengar, mimiku, slowpke, snorlax, and pichu. I’m 25 and to be honest half of these guys and their lore are completely new to me. I would appreciate any recommendations or even suggestions on the binder itself!

Made my son a weighted mew

Please ignore the rice grains and tiny balls of fluff everywhere, this was a messy late night project to surprise him with in the morning. My kid needs a “lap lizard” (if you know what that is) to stay still for more than 30 seconds conservatively. Recently he’s started getting really REALLY into Pokemon and I of course had to introduce him to the legendary ones and all that. I decided instead of buying a lap lizard for home and Pokemon plushies that he desperately needs I’d combine the two and make a four pound mew. This is more of a test to see how the pattern I made came out, the next project will be a full size and weighted based off the height and weight on the dex, and yes the face will be better 🥲 (oc)

PSA 6 month backlog

Hello! I’ve seen many posts about card grading and a couple of friends and I have also wanted to send some of our collections in for grading lately. If you go to PSAs website you’ll see that they have a backlog of at least 6 months. This means an order may not be marked as received or opened etc along with an obviously long wait time.

What are some other grading companies that are recognized and have a good reputation? Or is a (possibly) over 6 month wait worth it to get cards graded by PSA?
