WiiM Pro level low?

Hi all.

I've got a WiiM Pro and use it to stream to a NAD C372 amp and some Energy RC30 floorstanders. If I turned the volume on the NAD up to 12 o'clock it was LOUD. Anything past about 1 o'clock and it would be ear bleeding.

I had the amp in for repair as it had a faulty protection circuit and didn't use the WiiM for the 6 or so weeks it was away.

When I got the amp back, the level just wasn't there. I could turn the amp volume to basically max and it wasn't as loud as before.

I don't believe repair shop wouldn't have done anything to the affect the gain and there isn't any gain adjustments in the amp.

I've checked all settings in the WiiM app. Nothing seems to make it go as loud as before.

Has anyone had issues where their WiiM Pro randomly starts outputting a lower level signal?

Amp repaired, but now low volume.

Hi all.

I've got a NAD C372 amp that had a hum and would 'pop' through the speakers when turning it on/off.
I tried replacing some of the capacitors, including the 4 big ones, but in doing so, damaged some traces and broke the protection circuit.

I sent the amp in for repair and have just received it back form the shop.

The hum has gone, as has the on/off popping sound however it does not go as loud as I remember it to have done.
I am running it through Energy RC30 floor-standers and that amp felt like I could overdrive them and make your ears bleed.
Now, I can turn it up to 12 o'clock, even as far as 3 o'clock on the volume knob, and it just doesn't quite get there. It still 'goes loud' but not like it used to.
It feels like the gain internally has been turned down - although there is no internal gain adjustment, from what I've read.

I'm running music through a WiiM streamer, and nothing has changed in my setup (other than the amp repair).

I was thinking of setting the volume on the WiiM to 5% or so, removing the pre-out -> main-in jumpers and connecting the WiiM straight to that - and see at which point on the WiiM volume control, does it go as loud as it used to, if at all.

Are there any other things I can try? I don't want to open it up, as if I need to take it back to the shop, I want them to be the last people to touch it.

Cheers!

Server saying offline

Hi all.

I'm on a cruise and plex, even the Web app, is saying my server is offline.

Locally at home it's fine and also other users that have access.

So something on the cruise wifi (they use starlink) is blocking it.

Is it worth changing the remote port? Maybe to 443 or something like that that is not likely to be blocked by whatever network setup the cruise ship has?

Cheers.

JBL Digital 12 Subwoofer 'issues'

Hi all.

I picked up an old JBL Digital 12 Subwoofer.

It works really well except for a few issues.

There is an audible 'pop' from the woofer when it is powered on or off.

The standby circuit doesn't appear to work, i.e. unplug all inputs from it and it never goes to sleep/standby.

There is also a very slight audible hum from the woofer when nothing is being played through it. This changes and becomes less audible when the crossover/frequency knob is adjusted to 100hz and lower.

None of these issues are super worrying - just a little annoying - but I was wondering if it would be worth getting it looked at and repaired?

Cheers!

Ideas on passing cable through 2x walls

Hi all.

I have a speaker cable and an RCA cable that I would like to pass from the right side of the pic (where the sub/speaker is) to the left side in the cupboard with glass doors.

The current setup with the cables running along the front isn't approved by 'management' haha.

Cheers!

Hi all.

I've just picked up an old JBL Digital 12 sub.
It works great - have the 'sub out' from my amp (also old Pioneer VSX-921) to it - and that's great for movies.
But when playing music through "direct pure" the amp only powers the left and right channel - the sub out is disconnected.

Can I use the speaker level input from one of the fronts, to the sub, so it works with music, which having the sub out RCA still connected? For music this should be fine as there is no signal coming through the RCA, but what about movies, where the RCA is live? Now the sub is getting both RCA signals and speaker level input signals.

I'm told that the sub amp is smart enough to disable speaker level input when there is an RCA in - but is this the case?

Cheers!

Hey all.

I'm looking at a Polk PSW110 that won’t power on properly. Appears to be going into some sort of protection mode.

From what I’ve read, these seem to have common capacitor failures on the amp board.

Questions:

Is this most likely a capacitor issue or something more serious like PSU/output stage?

Has anyone repaired one recently — still worth doing?

Is there a known capacitor list or kit for this model?

Anything I should test with a multimeter before opening it up?

Planning to use it mostly for home theatre, so not sure if it’s worth picking up and trying to fix or just move on.

Cheers!
