My first post here, I thought I'd diverge from the nostalgia farming for a second. As someone 40+ now, looking at Gen Z joining the military is starting to affect me in ways I didn't know would. The world is full of wars, soldiers are dying, and most of them are Gen Z age. As a parent, this is brutally unfair.

I look at these "why did you join the army" videos and all these faces are just kids playing around. They must be what, 18-20? Their prefrontal cortex won't finish development until 25. They're willing to jump into high risk danger because they literally cannot process consequences now. The people in charge are older than me and very well aware of that. In fact, count on that.

At the hospital where I work, its very rare for a woman to give birth in the 20s. Its more common for geriatric pregnancies of women 35-42 or older. Comparing that with the soldiers in the military who have the ability to take and lose life is jarring.

Sigh. They're just kids themselves.

Ehhhhh so its roughly in line. Some things up a little, some things down. I don't like the cash flow. Management simply reaffirmed projections. Q1 they increased projections. Nothing exciting. Stock went up under 1%.

So I saw this YT short.... and it had a lv100 C6 Linnea doing 1.5M dmg per tick of LC. OK, cool its C6. But then this pile of comments out of nowhere were like "no its not C6, I do 600K at C0" and similar. What the fuck? That is more than my C1 Zibai. Are they full of shit? Or is my Linnea broken AF?

I'm really slow. People are already on to optimizing button combos and rotations. I just saw the gameplay Video and she seems floaty. She seems to get in and off the new robot frequently and occasionally does charge attack. It strikes me as being a bow user gameplay style.

I hate bow gameplay, lol. I hated it since maining Ganyu. Yes I know she carries a big ass sword. But the clips make her feel like Chasca.

lets compare Sandrone to Skirk. let’s assume they both have their premium teams. Skirk - Escoff - Furina - Shenhe, with all F2P weapons my guess is that is 130k dps? correct me if I’m wrong.

Sandrone - Yae - Escoff - Nicole, all F2P weapons, Zajef put that at 120k. Caveat that basically there is no Sandrone support (yet). These are cobbled together teams that roughly work.

This was a popular seat five years ago where we bought it for $60. it’s now retailing at $149.99.

I understand the immediate “inflation” and maybe “tariff” response but that’s nearly a tripling. Even our stroller + jogger system is up 40% not 250%.

(Edit) looked up some more info, apparently it’s due to Canada’s National Safety Mark (NSM). All car seats are illegal in Canada unless they get this sticker. Even car seats that have previously passed European and US tests, they remain illegal. So companies must pay NSM for a new test despite fewer sales, so they pass that cost on to consumers. Add to that the cost of inflation and yeah it starts to add up to that 250% figure. Still sucks! But this is life in Canada.

I'm seeing you guys do 120k on the dummy, but I am notoriously bad at that. For example, my Skirk DPS is like 80-90k with sig, escoffier, no furina. Like I'm clueless. DPS aside, Klee is fun. In my head, Nicole fits her. I have a C6 chevy and C6 Fischl. Seems like a good time. But will it fail me? Tell me the truth. I'd rather here, you suck too much to play Klee, than waste a bunch of gems on Nicole. Side note, I also wanted to get Nicole after getting Zibai. Angels and all that.

Normally, I am a couch potato investor. I have about 39% gain after being in XEQT for a few years. But the recent changes to the NASDAQ fast-track and the big 3 IPO's coming up (SpaceX, OpenAI, Anthropic), plus all the exposure to nVidia and AI in general is making me feel the "ick".

Why? I don't like the new trend of low-float (5%) astronomical IPO's using public indexes as exit liquidity. We index buyers subsidize by holding the bag that is Twitter + Grok + Elon Musk to the tune of $81B. I don't think that is a lot of money in relative terms, but my dad would slap me. You think giving away $20 to a known grifter is not a problem???

So change my view.

I am going to switch all my XEQT to XIC or some non-American index for a period of one week before and one month after SpaceX IPO. I will do the same when OpenAI goes IPO. Even though I am buying back into XEQT, I will have bought back after the "exit liquidity" has happened. This is not an investment based decision. This is my absolute disgust of the people like Elon Musk exploiting honest investors by changing the rules (ie bribing) to benefit themselves.

It seems different for diffusion and video generation. I'm from the LLM world where multiple cards can offload to each other in the same prompt. But in diffusion, it seems to prioritize the beefiest card. But add to that, that most models used by people are quantized for low vram. I want to use the models people are distilling and fine tuning. And have enough kV cache not to need offloading to system ram. Almost every workflow I see utilizes some form of tiling, block swapping, even offloading text encode to CPU. All for the preservation of VRAM. on top of that, it seems diffusion is the one workload that loves compute speed as well. where tokens, you could live with 20 per second, entire latent frames can take a lot more time depending on resolution.

So for the top end, is that essentially the 32GB 5090? Let me know if I'm wrong about those assumptions.

What I want to know is for the people willing to dump 50% or more of their portfolio on day one, what are you seeing?

Looked through their SEC filings and I'm seeing these facts:

• It's TAM is 28T, larger than the GDP of the US in all industries.
• Over 90% of that is enterprise AI, not space at all.
• Starlink makes money, but Rockets lose and AI bleeds money.
• Nearly half the projected revenue is renting GPU's to Anthropic, a contract that can be cancelled in 90days.
• Both Anthropic and OpenAI are filing IPO's this year in the same market and both lead Grok.
• It all hinges on Starship going perfectly to plan without delays or inefficiencies.
• As a class A stock holder, you cannot vote, cannot sue for wrongdoing.

It's basically Coreweave but IPO way more expensive by orders of magnitude.

Believe it or not, all in. But why though?

I recently got a free eGPU cage that connects via oculink cable. connected, fresh installed drivers and both GPU are detected and working. 16GB and 12GB cards. It doesn’t seem to help in compfy?

Image gen was never an issue. Video is where I wanted improvements. there is no noticeable improvement.

1. you can move text encoder to GPU 1
2. Comfyui still caches about 40% of the model into shared memory
3. Even using an 8GB quant, fully in memory, the generation doesnt go any faster.

for reference it’s about 32 sec/it on my 4080 super. i9-14700KF, 64GB DDR5, eGPU is a 3080ti. So basically it saved the CPU from doing text encoding and that’s entirely it. yes you can move vae to it too but Wan2.1 vae which is what I’m testing is a mere 200-300mb.

Also Crystools broke and I have to stop using a specific SVI flow. feels like going back to square one.

to be clear, i think all inflation above 2% is bad. but I’ve noticed a strange trend in reddit comments. a lot of people say they don’t care if gas is a little more expensive, it doesn’t bother them. But when the same inflation is on groceries, the vast majority of people agree it is affecting them.

for example, every comment agrees on the sentiment that $100 buys you less groceries today than five years ago.

but the comment that $100 buys you less gas is controversial. Some say, so what? and rationalize it in new units outside pure dollars. Ive seen this comment “I paid 4 cents per mile, so what if I pay 10 cents a mile, big deal”. lots of upvotes.

are more people just less price sensitive to gas? even though energy will impact food in a couple months, it just doesn’t register as a headline to exhale and breathe easy. If anything, when gas goes up, everything goes up, it’s an inbound crisis.
