Has it always been this bad?

App store review is turning into a very frustrating process. I assume this is a reflection of the sheer volume of AI-built apps but the humans reviewing my app seem to be on auto-reject mode.

First rejection: "spam: we have enough dating apps"

My app has absolutely nothing to do with dating or meeting people, even the friendship link is a handshake ie you need your friend request accepted

Second rejection "no method for account deletion"

Literally in the most obvious place for it, account page, big red button "delete account"

I'll put my hand up, this is my first app, in the description part of the submission I assumed it was to describe the functionality of the app, was I meant to treat it as an FAQ?

Tamiya 35264 M2A2 ODS WIP

Always the potential for a complete waste of time when airbrushing, a lot of thought into the pre shading only to not go light enough on the top coat to benefit from it.

Looking forward to getting stuck into the painting of this lot, never added so many accessories before so lots of potential for hue variances etc.

Also most of my recent builds have involved mud so will be fun working with dust/sand

Tamiya M48A3 Patton

You know it's an old kit when it was last updated the year you were born which is 1983 in my case.

That said, other than a couple of minor issues, it was classic Tamiya, everything just fits nicely and it's a joy to build.

Despite being quite a few models in now, it was my first attempt at oil dot weathering and I found it a very simple but useful technique.

Follow up call

Hopefully someone can shed some light, missed a call from +448002600700 and I recognised it as the DWP number that called me last Wednesday to remind me of my telephone PIP assessment on Thursday.

I had the phone assessment, took about 90 mins and was expecting a paper response in around 8 weeks.

Any idea what this call could have been about?

Don't know whether to call back but I get so much anxiety on calls I would rather everything is written.

Anyone had this battery issue?

Seems to be under the impression it's fully charged at 12% then refuses to operate as it's got insufficient charge

Guess I need to fit my own carpets as well

Hard not to just rant. I pretty much DIY everything, I suspect for the main reason most of us do (and no, it's not to save money). I foolishly thought carpet fitting would be safe to outsource but couldn't have been more wrong.

This was for my pride and joy, a home cinema room I've been building for the last 3 months, carpet being one of the last items. I get carpeting around a riser (a small raised platform for rear seating) is not as simple as just laying it out flat but I didn't think it was rocket science either.

Half the money paid upfront as deposit, to a local very well reviewed company that came in at significant premium to the national guys.

The pictures mostly speak for themselves but in a nutshell:

  1. metal edging strip far too narrow for a stair edge at around 10cm, and not even fitted on the actual horizontal to vertical edges

  2. not a single mitre is right, nor has it not been scratched up removing the top coating and worst of all, each so sharp it would take long before an injury will be sustained

  3. rather than fetch a long strip, they've stuck a scrap onto another scrap, creating another sharp joint

  4. almost every vertical corner without fail is just shocking, carpet doesn't meet, visible gaps or worse

  5. massive amount of sponginess (is that a word?) around the perimeter where the carpet hasn't been pulled taught or there are gaps in the underlay

Ok it was a full rant. Just so infuriating.

Finish line is in sight

Carpet fitted tomorrow then probably another week of putting it all together but so excited to be this close.

I've had a couple of cinema rooms in the past but due to house moves and life getting in the way, not had one for 6 years now. Also, I would say this is actually my first proper cinema room as opposed to a room with a big screen and some speakers.

A bit of a nightmare layout wise as there were windows and doors where I didn't want them but it's a 100yr old stone house so moving them was not an option.

Will start life as 7.1.4 with 4 bass shakers but wired for 7.2.4 (well technically 7.3.4 as I added additional RCA to front and back of room in preparation for a speaker crawl).

It's a 2 row setup in a 4.6m room, probably close to the minimum workable distance but meant a bit of a compromise screen wise, couldn't go bigger than 120" for front row "comfort".

Will be a proper bat cave once blinds and curtains are both fitted. Wall paint is Optiva Ceramic 3 and woodwork Farrow & Ball dead flat, both chosen for their ultra low sheen.

Comfortable on lap?

I know despite the name, laptops aren't intended for lap use.

That said, I like to use mine on my lap in front of the TV etc. Up till now I've just had it on a lap cushion/table but due a laptop upgrade and just wondering with advances in tech, are there any models that would be comfortable for at least 3 hours on the lap?

I don't mind a bigger unit like a 16" and currently eyeing the T16 latest gen but keen to hear real world experiences, for those with Lenovo laptops made in the last 5 years, does anyone have a model that is comfortable or for that matter, totally uncomfortable so I can rule it out.

Thanks

Response time from the courts?

I have an upcoming Section 8 hearing but wasn't recently diagnosed with a disability that makes solo travel unsafe.

I have requested (Via email and snail mail) that I can be present via video link instead of physically. For those that have had to contact the courts, what sort of turnaround time was usual?

I've only just sent the request but with the hearing 2 weeks away was wondering when the follow up call is needed if I don't get a response.

Thanks

US Light Tank M5A1Tamiya No. 35313 1:35

I started this about 8 months ago. After building it I lost interest, to me wasn't an interesting build nor much to look at and I certainly underestimated how small a "light" tank.

Finally got around to painting and sod's law, made a big error by not masking up the lines between the stencils but by that stage I had forgotten the paint mix of the base coat so dare not "repair" it.

Sticking to large tanks going forward 😂 that said, it does leave a lot more building space on the shelves!

Russian Self-Propelled Gun SU-76M Tamiya No. 35348 1:35

Really enjoyed this build, first time doing an exposed/open tank so took a bit of head scratching working out the order to paint and how to mask etc.

Tried a new technique (to me) of mixing putter and thinner to create a bit of texture to the metal. It looked quite significant before painting but now is a very very subtle effect.

Room for improvement, I got excited and completely forgot to use filler/sand where needed. I also need a lot more practice on rust effects. Also lesson learnt asking my teenage kid what number to spray on the side 🤦
