I wish sources could be tiered on FamilySearch

Don’t get me wrong I attach every record I find for an ancestor. But sometimes duplicates or single mention records really make an ancestor’s source tab bloated. Especially when it’s an ancestor with lots of children/grandchildren so they get attached to everything. Makes it annoying when you have to backtrack to read and need to find what sources relates directly to them in the pile. Would love if we could have some type of flag or tier we could attach to sources. Not sure if this is just an issue with Mexican records since they list lineage in them.

How do you organize genealogy trips?

Let’s say I want to travel abroad to do research on a brick wall, do I just show up at the archives or is it better to organize ahead? Is hiring professionals to guide you important? And is there a strategy of prioritizing major archives or visiting the original small villages of my ancestors?

I know it’s all different for each country as each has different infrastructure for genealogy. But I just wanted to get a general sense. (Spain was where I was planning)

What are the cheapest restaurants in Chula Vista?

It feels like everything here is so expensive now. I know Tacos El Trompo and Taqueria Imperial have their $1 something taco deals on specific days. But prices everywhere keep going up. Honorary mention by China Super Buffet on CV/NC border staying cheap.

It’s a national chain but Crumbl just tastes bad to me. For local I find D’Lish bland

What can we do to lobby archives to put their records online?

I know there are financial costs and lack of manpower. But I feel like we could be doing more than just waiting around for Ancestry/FamilySearch/etc to someday collect the records. Going in person is great but it’s hard when you need to look at records across the world (Many Dioceses in Spain having nothing online is frustrating)

Are people really getting into edit wars on FamilySearch?

Every time FamilySearch is brought up, people always comment that one negative is since it’s public anyone can edit and vandalize in a way a tree like it’s Wikipedia. But I’ve been using it for a while now and haven’t seen any of that at least on the ancestors profiles I’ve looked at. If anything the distant cousins or strangers have been helpful. Are edit wars common or inevitable? Or just specific family drama spilling online?

Absolutely stuck on Mexican ancestor looking for help

My ancestor Maria Diego Carrasco has been a brick wall for me. According to the 1930 census in Tamazula Municipality, Durango; she would be born in 1890 from Coahuila. But I’ve found that she had a daughter Maria Rita in 1895 in Durango.

Then I potentially found a 1882 baptismal record from San Ignacio, Sinaloa that could be her. But that would possibly contradict the Coahuila birthplace from the census. So I’m just stuck since I don’t know where she was born. She lived in Sinaloa/Durango border area for sure.

Her parents were Marcial Leon and Atanacia Carrasco. I haven’t found any records for them in Coahuila/Durango/Sinaloa. Atanacia even showed up one time as Manuela Carral on a baptismal document for her granddaughter but then that name didn’t show up ever again. My only guess is one might be a Spaniard due to process of elimination from a DNA test but no luck on that. Any help would be appreciated cause it’s been a dead end that has frustrated me.

Deathmatch FFA has been completely hijacked and made into a event title farm

I thought it was pretty funny! Every match is just cats and someone taking turn as DVA. Only occasional rogue players. But awful that a whole arcade mode got taken over just for an event challenge, terribly designed event.
