Drank my last Beamish, sad ti see it go

I traveled to Ireland back in May and I had the time of my life. I drank loads of beer, lots of local craft stuff, but probably gallons of dry nitro stout because, well it's Ireland. While there, I found I preferred both of the available Guinness alternatives, Murphys and Beamish, over Guinness, but especially Beamish. For me it's the most "stout" like of the three while still having the smooth nitro taste and texture, so I brought as many cans as I could carry because we can't get it here in the states

I had my last can tonight while watching tombstone and I'm already wishing I had more, hopefully somebody I know travels to Ireland soon and can grab me some more cans

Only 13 left before I have to try the Pennsylvania stuff 😥

My local liquor store awarded carrying the red letter extra stout, they were my hold out for a while after all the others had switched. This is all I have left before I have to try the new stuff

My Dad Hack of the day

My local truck stop always has sale papers for trucks and heavy equipment, they're free to take. Before a road trip, I grab one for each of my kids, to them they're just books with 1000 pictures of cool stuff

The best part is, each kid gets a different catalog, so they sit in the back of the car sounding like little tcg youtubers

"No way, a cement truck!"

"I pulled a skid steer!"

"Hey buddy your heel fell off"

Fella at the bar came over and said "hey uh, your heels on the floor"

To my surprise, he was right lol, it looks like I've been walking on only 3 rusty nails for quite a while, gonna stop by the red wing store tomorrow and see about a resole

Dinner time!

These fishwife mackerel are a little expensive for my taste, but I love just throwing the whole can into a bowl of ramen for a super quick dinner when I'm feeling lazy

Red letter extra stout

Is the Pennsylvania extra stout really as bad as I've seen online? I just saw my first six pack of it but I didn't buy any, still have around 20 Dublin bottles in the beer fridge

[i ate] Irish breakfast at my favorite B&B from my trip to Ireland

These breakfasts, prepared by a wonderful old lady named Agnes, were unforgettable despite being so simple. She let us come back and see her ancient cast iron stove, I dream of this going back to this place someday

Fourth of July fun

Drove 200 miles to northern Michigan for some trail riding on the work in progress TJ. Met my wife and kids up there and spent the weekend hitting trails.

Wife got a little rowdy behind the wheel and I ended up making the drive back home with a ratchet strap sway bar link. We had a great time and it was the perfect shake down for the Jeep, time for some JKS quick disconnect sway bar links

How do we feel about people doing the shamrock thing

Personally, I don't want anything done to the head of my Guinness, I'd prefer they focus on a good pour over theatrics, but all the places around me that do a good pour do it. I was surprised that I even got one in Ireland in Howth

Dad's, what's the play here

So, I just left a morning hangout with my own dad, had a great time, heavy Mexican lunch so I'm bushed, fat and happy. My wife calls and says "I hired a babysitter for the next six hours, my friend is having a breakdown and needs help, can you stay away from the house until the babysitter is done?"

Babysitters parents understandably don't want her home alone with a grown man they don't know all that well, and they can't pick her back up until then so I can't relieve her of her duties.

How is daddit killing six hours with no access to home, no kids and no wife. My one friend that lives nearby is out of town for the weekend

Feeling frustrated

My wife texted me while I was at work asking if we could take her friends puppy.

I said absolutely not, we can't even keep up with current load of kids and animal, no more animals until one is gone, or our kids get a bit older.

She brought the dog home anyway and swears it was just to see how our dog would do with another dog around. Naturally, my kids, 3 and 6, fell immediately in love and the second I walked in the door it was a chorus of "we got a new dog!"

My daughter asked if we could name the puppy "You're loved [last name]"

I'm so pissed I can't even think straight about what to do. Now "I" to either be a huge asshole and tell my kids the puppy they think is the best thing in the world has to go to a new home, or I keep this dog that I don't have space or time for knowing full well everybody will suffer for it

Need some kegerator advice

I got home from Ireland recently and cans are cutting it, I'm dreaming of a kegerator, either built or bought.

For the folks that have one and put Guinness in it, how long are you keeping your kegs going before noticing a change in beer quality? I would functionally be drinking by myself, so it'd take a few months to kill each keg, and I don't want to waste any letting it get stale or something in the keg

Last pub night before we head home from Ireland

At a pub in Howth tonight winding down before we head back to the US early tomorrow morning, enjoying a perfect creamy pint by a fire. I'll miss Ireland more than I ever thought I might, due in no small part to the availability of these perfect, creamy pints

Drive the Burren coast?

Good morning! I'm in Dingle today, and after breakfast I'm heading to my next accommodation outside of Galway on Craughwell.

My original plan was to get the ferry in Tarbert and drive the Burren coastal road to Fanore Beach before heading to my accommodation. However, I'm wondering if that's worth the extra almost 2 hours it adds to an already long driving day, or if I'd be better off taking a more direct route through Liemrick and Ennis. So far this trip we've done the full ring of kerry, slea head drive, skellig ring and bray head walk and so have seen lots of beautiful, dramatic coastline.

What are folks opinions? Are there some interesting stops on the more direct route?

Wife and I are staying in Ireland for two weeks, stop number one was the storehouse before we got out of Dublin for the rest of the trip. She doesn't care for beer so I drank hers after the Guinness academy 😁
