OnePlus Europe Exit Scam: How they stole charger and gave me a €0 compensation

Be warned if you are dealing with OnePlus warranty claims in Europe (maybe US too) right now.

They are using a ridiculous loophole to close out tickets with zero actual payout.

Four months ago, I sent my Supervooc charger in for a warranty repair. At first, they claimed that the charger has never arrived despite the fact that they provided their own label and it was signed delivered.

After endless escalations, they admitted they got it and will replace but did not ship it for a month.

After following up again to see why is it not shipping, they said it is EOL discontinued and they have no stock left (although charger was still listed for sale on their site 😂.

To resolve it, they offered to give me a €100 OnePlus store voucher.

Sounds fine, right? Here is the trap:

  1. OnePlus is clearing out stock and winding down European operations. 95% of the store is completely sold out - what's left are pretty much OnePlus Tab Go2, Nord 5 and Nord CE5. - I was going to buy a tablet with a discount.
  2. The catch - the remaining 5% of items left are discounted and marked as "On Sale."
  3. Their system blocks you from using vouchers on "Sale items."

The math is simple: The store is empty except for liquidation items, and the voucher cannot be used on those items. They literally took my 120W charger, kept it, and handed me a digital code with a functional value of €0.

When I pointed out this logical loop, support stonewalled me and said it’s their "final decision."

I am officially filing a case with the European Consumer Centre (ECC) for deceptive trade practices and breach of warranty terms.

IF YOU HAVE A WARRANTY CLAIM WITH ONEPLUS IN EUROPE OR US RIGHT NOW AND THEY OFFER YOU A VOUCHER INSTEAD OF REPAIR/REPLACEMENT, DO NOT ACCEPT IT.

IT LITERALLY CANNOT BE USED ON ANY OF THE ITEMS AND EXPIRES IN A MONTH.

It’s a trick to close your file before they exit.

---------------------------------

TLDR:

  • The Issue: OnePlus is reportedly winding down European operations, leaving their online store nearly empty except for discounted liquidation items.
  • The Loophole: Instead of repairing or replacing broken hardware (like chargers under warranty), OnePlus support offers store vouchers (e.g., €100).
  • The Catch: OnePlus system rules block vouchers from being used on "Sale/Discounted" items. Because 95% of the store is sold out and the remaining 5% is on sale, the vouchers have a functional value of €0 and expire in a month.
  • The Advice: Do not accept store vouchers from OnePlus right now. Demand a direct replacement or a cash refund, as the vouchers are being used as a trick to close tickets before they exit the market.

OnePlus Europe Exit Scam: How they stole my charger and gave me a €0 "compensation" voucher

The following post is about Oneplus, however, in Europe it is managed by the same company (Reflection Investment B.V.) as OPPO, so let's hope the same warranty practices won't apply to OPPO brand after the merger/rebrand.

Be warned if you are dealing with OnePlus warranty claims in Europe (maybe US too) right now.

OnePlus Support in Europe - absolute worst?

Hi there,

Purchased an Oneplus phone with 120W charger from official site in Europe.

Few months later, the charger plug practically stops working. A fine gentelman from OnePlus support give a prepaid label to ship it within EU to Netherlands.

Thats where the good ends..

The cherger was sent ~ 2 months ago and there has been no movement since.

I complain, they escalate, few weeks pass, I complain again, they esclate again..

This has been going for 2 months - I say give me a 40€ voucher code on site and I will buy a new charger plug, but they keep ‘escalating’ the warranty claim somewhere for reason unknown.

In the end:

multiple

  1. escalations

and they say

  1. their whole service dept now involved

  2. Charging with 20W iPhone charger for two months. Yay!

  3. So much messing about all for a 45€ charger..

Been buying OnePluses since the very first one - I think this now ends with the 15..

Whats your experiences with customer service in Europe by Oneplus?

Interestingly, Oneplus charges the highest prices in Europe, yet the service seems to be nowhere near Asia.
