THERE WAS A SALAMENCE RIGHT THERE THE WHOLE TIME WHEN IN GAME THERE'S NO SALAMENCE
A BUFF TO THE SWORDS OF JUSTICE
(without intentions of breaking them)
WHY BUFFING THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE?
The swords of justice have been a relatively consistent quartet for multiple generations. Keldeo has been an OU staple, dropping on the latest two generations; Cobalion has been the face of UU ever since it’s been introduced (even though it’s a fraud now); Terrakion has always been a strong breaker, and then there’s Virizion.
Nevertheless, they feel lacking in some departments, and their ability is basically useless for most of them, so buffing them following that scheme seems fundamental for them to stay strong in the future.
FIRST CHANGE: BUFFING THEIR ABILITY
Justified now makes the user’s highest stat (raw stat number, not base stat number) rise by one stage whenever they’re damaged by a Dark type move. This move would be most significant for Keldeo and Cobalion, two Pokémons that don’t really use their attack stats nowadays.
For Keldeo, this would mean its Special Attack or its Speed would be raised whenever it’s hit by a Knock Off, and for Cobalion, this would be Stamina but more situational, making them both great Knock Off absorbers.
For the other two, this change is not that significant. Terrakion could maybe use this for speed boosts when sweeping (say it switches into a Knock Off or the opponent tries revenge-killing it with a Sucker Punch and it's not enough), and the same would happen with offensive Virizion, this latter one also being able to resist more special hits (for example switching into a big Dark Pulse); but it wouldn’t be as significant as for the other two.
SECOND CHANGE: ADDITIONS TO THE MOVESETS
Some of these Pokémons have amazing movesets. Cobalion for example simply packs so much utility (Taunt, Stealth Rock, Thunder Wave, Volt Switch...). Nevertheless, there are some necessary additions for this quartet to keep up with next generations
ALL FOUR: Wish
TERRAKION: Mighty Cleave, Bulk Up
VIRIZION: Earthquake, Earth Power, Stun Spore, Aromatherapy
KELDEO: Ice Beam (has it in ZA), Earth Power (has it in ZA)
HOW WOULD THIS CHANGE THEIR PLAYSTYLE?
These buffs would make the swords of justice WAY stronger than how they are now.
Keldeo would finally have real coverage, not needing to rely on Icy Wind to hit Grass, Dragon and Flying types. Earth Power is also a good form of coverage it had in Legends ZA, and Wish would give it a really good way to support its teammates.
Cobalion just got two buffs (Justified now buffing Defense or Speed and Wish), but they would skyrocket its already good strengths. Now being an even better physical wall thanks to the self recovery of Wish, in addition to having a way to boost its defense, this would make it a much better utility mon.
Terrakion finally has a reliable Rock STAB, which, alongside Bulk Up and recovery, would make it shine as it once did. It would be a very strong pick on screens teams, becoming unstoppable easily.(Now, sure Mighty Cleave will be nerfed as Unseen Fist was… just doing 25% of the original damage if the opponent uses Protect... right?)
Virizion lastly, would become a much stronger mon in all sides, which is what it REALLY needs. With new Ground type coverage for both sides (Earthquake for physical sets and Earth Power for special sets) and some much needed utility to support its team and cripple the opposing one, it would become a really strong defensive/offensive Pokémon in lower tiers.

Why Tinkaton:
Funnily enough, this was actually my second choice for a Gen 9 mega, but there weren’t a lot of Flamigo mega designs floating around so I went with this.
Anyways, I remember when I saw that big hammer and thought this thing was gonna have a massive ATK stat, only to be let down when it was revealed to have a middling one. Stellar design and a good BST, but its abilities are so-so and its actual Stat Spread is so strangely distributed that I have to wonder what GameFreak was smoking when they made it like this.
Anyways, I buffed its ATK to match that gigantic hammer, buffed its speed since its design now has it fly, and gave it a good boost to its DEF so that it now has great well rounded bulk overall. Really simple set of changes here.
Why Levitate/The New Moves Received:
So there were a handful of abilities that I thought about before giving it Levitate such as Regenerator, Magic Guard, Serene Grace, and even Steelworker, but given its design and the artist saying it flies now, I think Levitate was the more flavorful choice. That said, it would have three great immunities in Dragon, Ground, and Poison, which all service it in setting up Shift Gear so it can start hitting things really hard with impunity.
Of course with the additions of U-Turn and Close Combat, it’s not beholden to merely setting up as it could serve as a offensive pivot thanks to the great typing and ability, letting it bonk something before switching to another mon on the team.
Psycho Cut is there due to the blade on its hammer-turned-axe now (probably should’ve gone with Axe Kick but it ain’t kicking anything with those stubby legs), Power Trip should it opt for more setup shenanigans, and Meteor Mash for lower power but consistent means of steel type damage with the potential added bonus of being able to potentially get another +1 ATK boost.
Thanks for reading.
like I know couples irl where one is 17 while the other is 20something but still this ship is a little strange because Pink could perfectly be a woman on her 20s...
A BUFF TO EXPLOUD
(without intentions of breaking it)
WHY BUFFING EXPLOUD IN THE FIRST PLACE?
In my opinion, Exploud has been a really potential mon. STAB, Scrappy Boomburst coming from a 91 base special attack, paired with either an Scarf with 68 base speed, which outspeeds base 110s without a boosting speed nature, or a Throat Spray, which would boost its offenses even further, sounds really well. It’s even better if you pair it with the relatively great coverage this mon carries
Nevertheless, it’s simply not good enough. Its bulk isn’t good, its special attack is too low to be threatening, and its speed is just awkward to define a role for this Pokémon
FIRST CHANGE: STATS
Exploud’s spread needs to define it more as a relatively bulky special attacking breaker. Its movepool already implies it’s a coverage beast that hits hard and can sponge some hits thanks to its Normal typing, neutral to everything. Also, its speed doesn’t need to go further. Hence, it’d work better on archetypes such as Trick Room in doubles, while still hitting over 200 speed without any speed boosting nature (a very important speed tier for a breaker, since most defensive mons hit under 200, and you still outspeed threats such as Kingambit, Ursaluna or Azumarill whether they lack a Jolly nature, which is the most common)
SECOND CHANGE: A LITTLE MORE COVERAGE Even though Exploud’s coverage is great, it requires a little more:
THIRD CHANGE: THE ABILITY
Exploud’s hidden ability Scrappy is crazy good, letting it hit Ghost types with one of the strongest Boombursts. Nevertheless, the first ability, Soundproof, is just a little lacklusting. Hence, it’d be better to change it by another one:
Resonance: Boosts the power of souns-based moves, while also reducing the damage taken by them
(yes, it's a Punk Rock clone, since I think only Toxtricity should keep Punk Rock. Exploud doesn't feel as rocky compared to the poison/electric lizard, after all
additionally, some other Pokémon should also have this ability, as the mentioned in the post: Chimecho, Meloetta, Noivern, Chatot and Kommo-O. after all, they're very sound-themed)
FOURTH CHANGE: SETUP MOVE
The only thing that Exploud lacks is a set-up move to boost its Special Attack, but neither Nasty Plot nor Calm Mind fit its vibe. Hence, it’d be ok to create a less evil-vibed special attacking boosting attack:
Tune Up: The user tunes their voice, boosting their special attack by two stages
(once again another clone of an existing feature, this time oof the move Nasty Plot, since there are some Pokémon that would really want a direct boost to their special offense, but don't have the evil vibe a Nasty Plot Pokemon would
all the Pokemon shown on the image would be the most fitting in my opinion, being really important surely on mons such as Primarina or Toxtricity to enhance their offensive pressence, though the star of the show is Exploud)
Thanks a lot for reading so far into this post! I really like Exploud, it's a really cool Pokemon, but very powercrept, and I really hope these new features would help it stand out as the face of Boomburst spamming!
hello, I'm going to be starting my physics degree at university when summer ends, and I was thinking about what could I do after those 4 years of university
I've been considered specializing on either quantum physics or nuclear physics through a master, maybe even get a PhD, and afterwards possibly dedicate to investigation on my university or even moving to cooler places such as the CERN
nevertheless, I was also considering on getting into some kind of industry where that knowledge might be required, though I'm not sure where specifically should I go
the last consideration was teaching on a secondary education level or college level, or dedicating to divulging online physics content like channels such as QuantumFracture
even with all these ideas, I'd still like to get some advice from other experiences. where is a nice place to work after studying physics? what's the most stable of all options? any specific recommendations for my interests?
thanks beforehand
since they're most surely going to add new Pokémon next regulation, the box's size is going to feel quite small. do you think they'll update it and increase it or leave the maximum limit at 50, paywalling a wider space?
I was cooking a set for my trainer OC, who was a Rotom and I thought of giving it not competitive sets but better moves for something like the anime's battles, and I thought on Substitute as a move for Rotom
this is how I'd think Rotom would be using that move
playing today and tried to claim rewards but it just doesn't let me get on the energy reward menu whenever I click on the icon, is it just a me thing or is anyone going through the same thing today?
you can create labels for your Pokémon just by pressing the + button on Switch, going to the labels section and creating them. I've been using them to classify my Pokémon as Pokémon that are:
metagame staples (like Sneasler, Basculegion, Kingambit)
glues for different archetypes (like Mega Charizard Y and Venusaur with sun, Pelipper and Archaludon with rain, Hatterene and Mega Golurk with trick room)
good in the metagame, though not staples (like Rotom-Wash, Maushold or Primarina)
antimeta Pokémon (like Tsareena, Vivillon and Hydreigon)
more or less cheesy Pokémon strategies (like Perish Trap Gengar and Politoed)
they're good in my opinion and a silly implementation. could also be used for different purposes, like labelling different Pokémons for ladder and tournament play, or just with your favorites!
