Old Photos of Chengdu

I’ve just returned from Chengdu and wanted to look at archival photos of the city centre - specifically, what used to be in the area around the IFS shopping centre with the panda. With the help of AI, I was able to read descriptions of those places before the modern development, but I haven’t found any good websites with historical or vintage photographs.
Chinese websites either won’t load for me (heh), or they do load but it’s impossible to tell where the photos were taken or what their sources are. Are there perhaps any archives from English-language publications that might have historical photos of central Chengdu?

Tried North Korean "Tumangang 11"

Today I went to a North Korean restaurant and tried beer from the DPRK for the first time. It's a surprisingly good lager.

The DogFather Zinfandel Reserve, Lodi, California

Have you tried this Lodi Zinfandel? I noticed it because of the name and the label. The label features a Mundus Vini Grand Gold medal (one of the most reputable German wine competitions)

California wine

This wine is very popular in Russia. It’s considered good and is very often displayed in large quantities on the central shelves. Is it considered good in the US?

Higly concentrated Indian green chilli pickle

I bought this green chilli pickle, and it’s incredibly spicy ready to ruin any dish. Adding just a couple of grams to rice or chickpeas completely kills the flavor of the food, making it unbearably hot. Where is this stuff even supposed to be added, and what do people eat it with?Do you microdose it?

My Aby basically tiny, efficient fur-manufacturing factory

Abyssinian cats don't have an undercoat, and their fur itself is short, but why do they shed so much? More than their own body weight! When I vacuum, I collect a full canister of their hair. Honestly, considering the amount of fur I flush down the toilet after every cleaning, my beautiful Abyssinian should be completely bald! Is it the same for yours?

Reverse Glass Painting

These are traditional Balkan reverse glass icons (икона на стаклу / ikona na staklu), a distinctive form of folk art that flourished in the 18th and 19th centuries, particularly across Vojvodina, Transylvania, and parts of Central Europe. Unlike expensive, heavy wooden icons commissioned for churches, glass icons were vibrant, more affordable, and easily wiped clean from the soot of candles and oil lamps in family homes.

Art Born of October. In this case, I like how communist propaganda combines with features of Greek or Egyptian sculpture.

Hello from Moscow! My cat's name is MileyCyrus. I named her after the album Miley Cyrus and her dead petz, which came out right when she was born. She has a very intelligent look, as if she's solving logarithms and integrals in her head. Once I even tried to teach MileyCyrus Arabic numerals, and later Roman ones, but I didn't succeed. I got really upset.
