Is “Live Through This” By Hole A Grunge Album?

I don’t see many people talking about Hole on this sub, and I can imagine that has something to do with the drama surrounding Courtney Love. However, generally speaking, they had significant ties to the Seattle scene, and produced music in this album that to me, sounded pretty grunge. Share your thoughts if you like. Much appreciated!

In Rainbows Might Be The Best Studying Album Of All Time.

I’ve been a fan of what you had for a while, and In Rainbows is just such a beautiful album that never gets old. As an upcoming senior this year, I’ve used this album so many times to help me study and it’s been so soothing and relaxing for me. Genuinely if you are ever working on something or studying, just put on this album. I bought it on vinyl this year and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Honestly, this is one of my favorite albums in general.

Is Grunge Even Real?

I’ve heard this question asked before, but I wanted to see where people on this subreddit stand. A lot of people are saying the term “grunge” was simply a marketing label, others will argue it was more than that. Please lmk your thoughts!!

Can We All Agree That the Screaming Trees Belong in the “Big 5 Grunge Bands”?

Although they never achieved large mainstream success, their sound and legacy is undeniable. Sweet Oblivion is, in my opinion, one of the best grunge albums out there, and Dust is pretty good as well. I hate seeing them forgotten and kicked under the rug. Not to mention, Mark Lanegan and the band had a ton of connections to the entire grunge scene, as Lanegan was friends with both Kurt and Layne, and Barret Martin played for Mad Season. I just think they are extremely under-appreciated, and I have a feeling a lot of people agree with me. What are your thoughts?

Are the Stone Temple Pilots Grunge?

I have been a fan of grunge for a while, and this has always been a major question for me. I know that STP was a California band, so lots of people refused to give it the grunge label because the scene was so heavily based in Seattle. However, the sound of the bands earlier work (like Core and Purple) have a very grungy feel in my opinion, and to others from what I have gathered. I am just wondering what anyone’s opinions are on this, as what I have seen so far has been incredibly split. Thanks! :)
