SOTD - Monday night shave - 17/08/26

Had a smooth and precise shave

Razor : Leaf Twig

Blade : Parker half blade

Shaving Stick : Derby - Smells identical to Arko to my nose. Performance is also reallyyyy similar, but when I added some extra water it burst into a very creamy lather which I enjoyed. Not sure if that cannot be achieved by Arko tho. For me they’re like twins.

Brush : Omega Boar Wooden handle

Passes : WTG + ATG

SOTD - Wednesday evening shave - 11/08/26

Had a great smelling shave

Razor : Parker semi slant

Blade : Gillette Super Platinum (2)

Brush : Yaqi ST badger

Shaving Soap : Yaqi Ouds - first shaving soap from Yaqi, the quantity is nice and the fragrance impressed me. I have smelt Oud on my friends before and was never a big fan of it but I love this take on it. Really woody but luxurious. Lather was so good and slick but I was expecting that, didn’t falter.

ASB : Anherb ASC

Passes : WTG + XTG - surprisingly had a few weepers in the first pass. I was wondering why and I found the culprit. I had put a washer on the razor even though it doesn’t have an indent for washers that many razors do, and it was messing with the blade clamping of the head. After I removed the washer, it was smooth sailing then onwards.

SOTD - Sunday Morning Shave - 09/08/26

Razor : Romer-7 Shivira - I’m really liking this razor and understand why it’s well regarded in the sub. It has a very audible feedback and the cutting, to me atleast, has a somewhat similar slicing effect to my Parker semi slant. Obviously it’s not a slant so it’s not actually slicing but the feel is similar IME.

Blade - Gallant - decently sharp

Brush - Yaqi HM ST badger

Shaving Cream - Tabac - first time trying Tabac and it has a very familiar old fashioned ointment smell that we all must’ve smelt before I’m sure. Also gives me Vicco vibes. But I like this smell tbh. And yeah a nice slick lather was produced.

ASL - Old Spice Original

Passes : WTG + XTG, ATG on lower neck and mustache

Pre-Shave : PW Pre-Shave Oil

Razor : Yintal 3000

Blade : Silvermax Premium Stainless - blade was nice at level 6, easy strokes

Shaving Cream : TOBS Coconut

ASL : Hugo Boss ASL

Post Shave : Shavologist Strike Skin Food - I usually don’t like heavier creams but the scent makes up for it big time. And it does give a soothing effect. Liked it.

SOTD - Saturday Afternoon Shave - 01/08/26

Had a wonderful, therapeutic shave. Took my time on this one. Non-work days are wonderful aren’t they? 😜

Pre-Shave : Mancode Pre Shave Balm

Razor : Pearl Blaze

Blade : Topaz Platinum - first time using this blade, a bit too mild for my liking

Shaving Cream : Proraso White - loved it. The cream has a sort of herbal/medicinal/vegetable type of scent. In a satisfying way. Don’t imagine Indian herbal, imagine European herbal. Clean and subtle. I get why it’s for sensitive skin. Created a great lather and was slick.

Shaving Brush : FS G5

ASL : Shavologist Kailash - Atul ji described as smelling like maha shivratri and it really does. Proper pooja smell, I really dig it. Smells familiar and nostalgic.

Passes : WTG + XTG + ATG on cheeks & moustache, XTG + ATG on neck - multiple passes helped getting a close shave and compensated for the mild blade.

Found this bowl

Found this ceramic bowl randomly on Nykaa Fashion, it’s from FabIndia Home. Pretty neat! The indents will help in lathering 👌

SOTD - Wednesday Afternoon Shave - 29/07/26

Had a very enjoyable shave. Every stroke was like cutting grass and went smoothly. Probably my smoothest shave. Accidentally found a great pairing.

Razor : Romer-7 Shivira

Blade : Gillette Silver Blue - now I’m not sure what was the biggest contributor to every stroke being a joy, the blade, the razor or the soap. Probably a bit of all three. But all in all I found this blade to be amazing. Effortlessly smooth, glided along the whole shave. The razor definitely helped and created an accurate angle for the blade to do its work.

Brush : Yaqi Purple Haze

Shaving Soap : B&M Seville - as always, created a very cushiony but slick lather. Aided in the glide.

ASB : Anherb ASC - love the consistency, smell and cooling effect.

Passes : WTG + XTG + ATG on the cheeks, WTG + ATG on the neck - biggest takeaway was throughout the shave I never felt any chances of getting a cut. Yet every stroke took out so much hair. It was lovely.

SOTD - Monday morning shave - 27/07/26

Had a really COOL shave

Razor : Mühle R41

Blade : Feather (2)

Brush : Yaqi Naicha - second use of the brush and I must say the water retention on the brush is so impressive. I didn’t notice it in the first use but this time it was almost as good as the G7. Also the knot is so dense and not floppy at all so it holds the lather really well.

Shaving Soap : Captain Nemo Green Ice - I have used two menthol related soaps from Nemo and I must say they do a great job in their menthol soaps, the cooling is MASSIVE. Highly recommended. Also I have never had issues with slickness or lathering in their non-Lanolin soaps as some people have reported, but not every batch is the same and I acknowledge that!

ASB : BSC PSB

Passes : WTG + XTG on cheeks, WTG + ATG on neck - shave went smooth barring a few weepers that I didn’t even feel. I guess it’s a testament to the efficiency of this razor + blade combo.

WTS Shavologist Ruh Khus

WTS Shavologist Ruh Khus Shaving Soap, lathered once

Reason for selling : not my kind of scent profile, others may enjoy it more. I get a bit of a smokey type of note which isn’t my cup of tea.

Also it’s a tallow based soap so if someone is vegan please take note.

Asking Price : Rs 500 + shipping

SOTD - Saturday Afternoon Shave - 25/07/26

Had sort of a taboo shave, I’m well aware of how the sub feels about cartridge razors 😂 but curiosity got the better of me as I had heard a lot about Dollar Shave Club.

Razor : Dollar Shave Club 4 blade - unlike many other members of the sub I actually never had an issue with cartridge razors in terms of shaving experience. I did not have ingrown hairs or cuts. The most cuts I got was within the first three months of learning how to shave for the first time when I was 16 years old, other than that, I never really got cuts. What my main caveat with cartridge razors was the cartridge prices which became too extortionate, especially for a college student who had a limited amount of pocket money every month, which pushed me towards safety razors after watching a lot of YouTube videos, raving about it. Coming back to the razor, it was pretty good. One thing I liked about it was that it did not clog much, it says swift rinse on its packaging, which I thought was just marketing, but I can say confidently that it does rinse quite well and since it is a new blade, as expected, it cut the stubble pretty well. So overall a good experience.

Shaving Gel : Gillette Sensitive - this one I’ve hard for a long time. I am actually a big fan of the fragrance, it’s really nice. Obviously it’s not as slick as my creams and soaps but it does do the job if you aid it with some water. And yes it does have propellants so I didn’t really need a brush to form a lather.

SOTN - Early Friday Shave - 24/07/26

Razor : Yaqi Mellon Head + PAA handle

Blade : Glatz (2)

Brush : Omega Boar

Shaving Soap : Cella Red - finally tried cella red. Lathered like crazy, and oh so slick. Tried to determine what the scent reminded me of and finally ended up on a cherry-like candy I used to have as a kid. I have no idea what marzipan smells like but I got a strong cherry from its fragrance, it’s great. Performance was very impressive.

SOTN - Early Thursday Shave - 23/07/26

Had a calm/soothing shave

Razor : Merkur 34C HD

Blade : Laser Ultra - quite smooth

Brush : Yaqi HM ST - continues to impress, soft but scratchy.

Shaving Soap : Proraso Red - has a calming sandalwood based fragrance, most will love it. Really slick as expected.

ASL : 4711 ASL - this smells so refreshing. To me it smells like a freshly made citrusy mocktail. It is uplifting for sure. Have never smelt original 4711 Eau de Cologne but I can see why it is still in production since the 18th century. Great stuff. Had also heard the original Cologne didn’t last very long (as it is a Cologne) but that kind of performance fits well for an aftershave.

Passes : Tried Geofatboy’s usual pass pattern : WTG + XTG + ATG on the cheeks, WTG + ATG on the neck area. Worked well for me.

SOTN - Late Monday Shave - 20/07/26

Razor : Henson Clone

Blade : Gillette 7’OClock SP

Brush : DS Cosmetic G7 knot - this knot is by far the closest synthetic I’ve used to my Silvertip Badger in terms of water retention. This holds plenty of water inside of like a badger and even when you get most of it out, there’s good enough retained at the tips. With STs, I have always faced a dripping situation if I don’t get the water fully out and was facing this same situation on this G7. This is an advantage for soaps/creams that may demand more water. I was amazed by it, it really is close to a badger.

Cream : Vicco Sandalwood

SOTD - Sunday Evening Shave - 19/07/26

Had a great shave

Razor : Henson AL-13 Clone SS handle - as anticipated, finding the angle was a child’s play with this razor, they do it for you. The finishing is nice. Quite efficient too I must say with the correct blade.

Blade : Matgicol

Brush : Yaqi Purple Haze - I believe this is the Mew Brown knot, same as we can find in Mocha. It’s a great knot, quite but decent backbone, quickly built up the lather. But main reason for getting this was the handle (refer pic 2nd and 3rd). It’s a beauty. Great piece of manufacturing.

Shaving Soap : Shavologist Grim Reaper - immediately after sniffing the soap it reminded me of Pearl Sunrise Bliss. Atleast to my nose they smell quite similar, Shavologist is even more towards the woody side. It’s a calming yet clean fragrance. Something you might find in a high end bathing soap. I definitely liked it but now my Sunrise Bliss seems redundant. The lather was very rich as expected because of the tallow base. During the first pass I hadn’t put enough water so there was the slightest bit of tugging but after additional water, razor glided smoothly.

ASL : Axe Denim

Passes : WTG + ATG - TBH I’ve gotten comfortable enough with ATG and it is giving me closer shaves and less irritation then when I went XTG. Again this is not an endorsement of ATG over XTG but rather just my personal experience. YMMV.

SOTD - Friday Evening Shave - 17/07/26

Tried out some new gear

Razor : Yaqi Mellon Head + Pearl Blaze Handle - Interestingly the finish on both these pieces is very similar, so they look like they were made to be used together. The head is excellent and quite efficient. Looks scary but is quite usable actually.

Blade : Glatz

Brush : Yaqi Naicha - wow this brush is impressive. The tips are super soft, almost luxurious. Pillow-like feel. While I was spreading the lather on face it felt quite good. Backbone is more than Timberwolf I felt. Lathered the cream easily.

Shaving Cream : TOBS Coconut - this has an excellent edible smell. It smells like those Britannia Coconut biscuits, I think they’re called “Nice Time” now. The cream was a bit hard atm but the brush and the cream combined to make a very cushiony and soft lather. Great slickness as well.

ASB : BSC PSB

Passes : WTG + ATG - was getting some post shave irritation recently when I went XTG under the right side jawline. So now went ATG and surprisingly no irritation. This is why it is rightly said that everyone’s face is different. Got a really close shave because of the ATG.
