TU Leoben qualification test

Hello everyone! I am planning on applying to the bachelors in new science and technology which requires a qualification test. It consists of an aptitude test, a motivational video and an interview. If anyone has done this qualification test before I would really appreciate their advice, experience or any details they might want to share. Is the aptitude test difficult or easy? What topics does it usually cover, how long should the motivational video be and what questions do they ask in the interview. Thank you for your time!

JKU v/s TU Leoben

Hello everyone I am planning on applying to these two universities for my bachelors in the coming summer semester 2027. I’d like to specify that I have an IB Diploma and these are the courses I am interested in applying:
JKU: Chemistry and Chemical Technology
TU Leoben: New science and technology
I have chosen these programs because they align with my interest of career field i.e, energy technologies and sustainability. I am confused on which university would be a better fit for me. The TU Leoben program has 3rd and 4th semester study abroad (mandatory) and there are 2 options: TU Bergakademie Freiburg (Germany) or Silesian university of technology (Poland). My original goal was to study in Germany for bachelors but that is unfortunately not possible but since this program offers the possibility of studying for 1 year in Germany I am very inclined to study at TU leoben. Also this program has a very broad syllabus. On the other hand, JKU’s program is ofcourse very focused as its entirety is Chemistry. But JKU is in a better location than TU leoben and has better rankings. If anyone has studied these courses or studied at these universities I would be grateful if youd leave your experience or advice below. If I study in either of these universities, I will end up choosing the same career path but I like the program and syllabus of TU Leoben better, and JKU has better rankings and location. Also the admission procedure for JKU is very simple, I just upload my diploma and ielts certificate and passport. But TU Leoben’s procedure has a lot of things like aptitude test, motivation video and on top of that an interview. Also I am an international student and I will be 18 at the time of studying in one of these universities so I would also like to say that this will be my first time living alone abroad away from my family. I wanted to ask if what really matters. Thank you for your time!

Summer semester doubt

Hello everyone! I wanted to apply to montanuniversität leoben in the coming summer semester. I emailed the university and they replied by saying I will take semester 2 courses in the summer and semester 1 courses in the winter 2027. And they also said it wouldn’t affect the duration of the degree. So does this mean I will be doing all semesters backwards? Like odd number 1,3,5,7 in winter and 2,4,6 in the summer? Because semester 3 and 4 require studying abroad and the backward sequence is really throwing me off. Is this the sequence ill be attending my semesters in:2,1,4,3,6,5,7,6? If you know please help me out! I want to apply for bachelors here. Thank you for your time I really appreciate it

Finding WG as an international student

Hello everyone! I have recently been admitted into HKA for my bachelors and I am looking for accommodation. The studierendenwerk has 6-12 months of waiting. I have messaged people on WG-gesucht but I am 17 years old (turning 18 in october) and an international student. That makes my chances of finding a WG quite less. Can someone give any advice or let me know if there are any free wg from September for around 3 months?

Is HKA worth it?

Hello everyone! I recently got an admit from Hochschule Karlsruhe for bachelors in electrical engineering and information technology. I have seen a lot of criticism regarding this university on reddit so is it really worth attending? For context I am an international student and this is the only university I have received an admit from at the moment. I would really appreciate if you share your experience and give feedback.

  3. ESS SL: 6
  4. Physics SL: 5

I am looking mostly at green/ sustainable engineering courses and would like to know what my chances are of getting into these universities. I had planned on studying in Germany but unfortunately I couldn’t meet a requirement (ESS as a subject) so they rejected me and now I have to apply for next year winter semester. I do not wanna waste another year so someone please help me out. Also factor in the fact that I am from a third tier country (I will need a visa). Thank you!!

Are Summer intakes lacking or tacky than winter intakes?

Hi I am a student from third country and just completed my IB Diploma with 35 points! I was planning to study elsewhere but at the last moment I decided to study in Austria. Unfortunately I missed all the deadlines for winter intake 26. Currently only Monatuni leoben has a summer intake with my program of interest. My other options are FH upper Austria, FH Kufstein and FH Kärnten but these 3 only have winter intake. So I wanted to know if summer intake in leoben is lacking in any way or its the same as winter intake. Id really appreciate if you leave some experience advice or feedback!!

Has anyone gone to studienkolleg after IB Diploma?

Hi I recently completed my IB Diploma with 35 points. The only problem is that I took ESS from group 3. So now I need to do Studienkolleg. Can anyone guide me?? I want to do the T-kurs and I am starting B1 german course. I am not sure if I will be able to complete B2 by summer semester 27. Also I dont live in Germany so I cannot give offline entrance tests. Can anyone suggest me Studienkollegs?? I am also doing my own research but it’ll be really helpful to know others experience 😭🙏

IB Diploma rejection from uni-assist

Hello everyone. I am a student from m-26 currently applying to Germany for my undergrad. These are my subjects:
Group 1: English A HL
Group 2: Hindi B SL
Group 3: ESS SL
Group 4: Physics SL
Group 5: Maths AA HL
Group 6: Computer Science HL
Okay so as you might know ESS does not fit the criteria for a diploma to be recognised in germany. I recently have been rejected by Hochschule Merseberg (via uni-assist) for the same reason. Is there anyone who has the same problem and still went to a public university? Please let me know atp any advice or experience might help.
