Questions to the DJs on this sub

I’m a learning dj, and looking to invest in some speakers. Yk the issue no analog input (rca) in new speakers and if they do have them there’s insane amount of processing which delays the sound wrt to your deck. So I’m wondering what’s your setup? I’m considering Logitech z623 for 13.5k.

The setup is gonna be for my home/ bedroom party with the boys.

I specialise in industrial/hard techno/ schranz

How to find tracklists if it’s not available in the usual places

So I really liked this dj’s set stefka hor Berlin set. I’ve checked every single YouTube comment on the video, soundcloud, tracklist1001 and even DMed her but no luck anywhere. I even considered buying hor membership cause I have only one card and it’s not working. No Apple Pay or similar in my country too.

Been DJing for a month. I can do clean transitions, but I have no idea what I should be learning next.

I’ve been learning to DJ for about a month now, and I feel like I’ve hit the point where I don’t know what I don’t know.

So far I’ve learned:

  1. Beatmatching (still mostly using the screen, but I’m practicing doing it by ear)

  2. Mixing in key

  3. Basic phrasing

My usual transitions go something like this:
I find the drop of both tracks and count back 32 bars.
I’ll either mix into the intro or into the build-up before the second drop, depending on what sounds better.
For the first 16 bars of the transition, I swap the mids and highs.
For the next 16 bars, I swap the bass.
Sometimes I’ll add a small effect before the drop of the incoming track.
This works pretty well when the tracks are the same genre, similar BPM, compatible keys, and I avoid obvious clashes like vocals over vocals or claps over claps. The mixes sound clean enough.
The problem is… I feel like that’s basically all I know.
I’ve been watching a lot of Hör Berlin sets and trying to study what the DJs are doing with their hands. I can kind of copy some of the more advanced transitions (volume riding, filters, loops, etc.) if I’m using the exact same songs they’re playing, but if I try those techniques with tracks from my own library, I have no idea when or why to use them. It just feels random, and usually sounds worse.

So I guess my biggest question is:
What should I actually be learning next?

I’m especially interested in things like:
How to know why you’re using a filter, loop, or EQ instead of just copying someone else’s movements.
How experienced DJs think about transitions instead of memorizing them.

How to build that intuition so you can mix songs you’ve never seen anyone else mix before.
Also, if you have any recommendations for YouTube channels, playlists, or specific videos, I’d really appreciate them. Most beginner tutorials stop after beatmatching, phrasing, and EQ mixing, but I’m looking for content that teaches what to practice after the basics and gives a roadmap for improving over the next 6–12 months.

Thanks! I’m really enjoying learning, I just feel a bit lost about what the next stage should look like.

Where can I get highest trade in value and/or discount for IP17 pro

I have a 13 which is used to its fullest. 69% battery health. No major damages, nothing has been replaced or repaired in its lifetime but there are a few dents and scuffs of the aluminium frame. Official Apple website showed be 16k estimate. Should wait for offer season and then get the phone? Also when I trade in will they allow me to transfer data from old phone to new one?

Can someone help test JBL USB-C latency with Rekordbox?

Hey everyone,

Need some help from people who own JBL speakers with USB-C wired audio support (Charge 6, Flip 7, Xtreme 5, Boombox 4 etc.) and also use Rekordbox/DDJ controllers.

Can someone test this setup for me:

Laptop running Rekordbox → USB-C directly into the JBL speaker in wired/USB audio playback mode.

I mainly want to know:

- Is the latency/delay manageable for DJing?
- Does it feel tight enough for beatmatching?
- If there IS delay, how bad is it actually?
- Like roughly how many milliseconds does it feel like?
- Is it usable if cueing through headphones and using the speaker only as master output?

Context:
I’ll most likely be buying a JBL Charge 6 mainly as a personal portable Bluetooth speaker for casual listening. But I also use my laptop speakers currently while DJing with a DDJ-FLX4, so if the USB-C wired mode is decent, it could be really useful temporarily.

I know proper DJ monitors are the ideal solution, and once I improve and save up some money, I’ll eventually invest in actual DJ speakers/monitors. Just trying to see if the Charge 6 can pull double duty for now.

Would really appreciate if someone could test and share their experience.

Bluetooth speaker help

Bluetooth speaker help

Hi all,

I just picked up a ddj flx4 few weeks back and now im finally free to give DJing more time. I don’t have any kind of speaker with me. I’ve been using my tv speakers to practice here and there. I’m looking to buy a reasonably sized Bluetooth speaker to practice and for personal listening in my room.

Here are the requirements:

  1. under 300usd pre tax
  2. good volume and bass for a medium sized room
  3. Really well built and waterproof as I’ll be taking it around with me a lot

I’m considering these options:

  1. Jbl xtreme 4 for 300usd

  2. Sony ult 5 for 280usd

  3. Jbl charge 6 for 160usd (Im currently using iems so I could get myself hd25s with remaining budget)

Note1: the setup connection would be flx4 rca to aux in or type c input of the speakers. or laptop type c to type c or aux input of the speakers whichever works better. Anyone with any experience share your thoughts

Note2: I’ll be getting larger djing specific speakers down the line same with headphones.

Please help me buy the right speaker. I’m open to recommendations

Thanks
