Doing my regular oil change soon and was considering these fluids. I just don't know if it's necessary.

My car is currently at 178k kilometers. I bought it at an auction at 146k. Used to belong to my city's fleet. Although I can't say what it was used for, it was most likely not a police vehicle for various reasons with the most relevant being that the interior was intact when I got it. No symptoms to suggest the fluids need changing and Ford owner's manual says both the PTU and rear axle are lubricated for like, and to only check or change if there's a leak or repair.

Has anyone changed theirs recently? Why did you and what did you notice after the change?

Here's what the owners manual says:

1. The power transfer unit is lubricated for life with synthetic lube. Lubricant levels are not to be checked or changed unless a leak is suspected or repair required. Replace power transfer unit lubricant with specified synthetic lubricant anytime the unit is submerged in water.
2. Fill to 1/4 inch to 9/16 inch (6 mm to 14 mm) below bottom of fill hole.
3. 4X4 vehicles exposed for prolonged periods to temperatures less than -40°F (-40°C) should change out the rear axle fluid to Motorcraft SAE 75W-140 Synthetic Rear Axle Lubricant, Ford part number XY-75W140-QL meeting Ford specification WSL-M2C192-A.

Police/Taxi/Livery vehicle axle maintenance: Change rear axle fluid every 100,000 miles (160,000 km). Rear axle fluid change may be waived if the axle was filled with 75W140 synthetic gear fluid meeting Ford specification WSL-M2C192-A, part number FITZ-19580-B or equivalent. Add four ounces (118 mL) of additive friction modifier XL-3 (EST-M2C118-A) or equivalent for complete refill of Traction-Lok rear axles. The axle fluid should be changed anytime the axle has been submerged in water

I was at my local wreck yard yesterday looking for wheels for a newer Subaru car. I'd initially done some research and came with a list of cars that used the same wheel size and dimensions. The list included so Mazda (CX 5 and 9), Toyota (Highlander), Subaru (Ascent, Tribeca), Kia (Sorento), Nissan (Murano and Pathfinder), and Ford (Edge).

At the wreck yard, there were no Mazdas or Toyotas on the lot, unsurprisingly. There was one Subaru Tribeca, no Ascent (its newer, so understandable) and one Forrester.

Nissan however, made up the bulk of the list I was given, mostly Muranos. And they all looked to be in good shape, body-wise. It was weird that there were so many of them. There were a few Fords too.

Make of that what you will, but my own conclusion based on that visit alone was - never buy a Nissan Murano or a Ford Edge.

I'm looking for Steel wheels for my 2022 Convenience and every option I've found on C-Wheels, Black Circles etc. don't seem to match my vehicles recommended load ratings even though those sites say the wheels are OEM compatible and or hubcentric. Where have you bought your wheels in Canada? I already ordered the Bridgestone Blizzard winter tires at Costco, now I just need the wheels for them so I have 2 complete sets of tires.

My 2022 Convenience is nearing the 60 months / 100k kilometers warranty limit soon - 60 months is in December 2026 and currently at 91k kilometers.

The vibration issue has been happening for a while when braking at high speed but is becoming increasingly pronounced.

Reading through this subreddit, I understand there was a TSB for the issue and a few people said they had it fixed under warranty, but I'm not sure if that's mostly an American thing.

For my case specifically, I bought the car used in 2024, not CPO. I assumed the 60 months/ 100k kilometers warranty should still cover it regardless. Am I right or wrong?

Some friends gifted us two tickets to the Elks game tonight against the Roughriders, so I took my 9-year old son to his (and my) first football game. Beautiful day, beautiful weather, a seat neighbour (who is a teacher) was kind enough to coach us through the game. All was going well.

Then came the little bit of rain and lightening and we were asked to evacuate for a while. During the game, my son had taken his hat off and placed it in a clear ziploc bag. While evacuating, he forgot to take the bag with him. We had reached the concourse before he remembered the hat. We immediately went back for it but it was gone. Some people sitting two rows behind us (we were in Section C, Row 30) told us some people seated right behind us, Row 31, had taken it.

Cue him balling his eyes out, blaming himself for being whatever, just being altogether miserable.
About the hat - It was a brand new Edmonton Stingers hat he bought last night, Friday, July 31, at the Stingers-Mamba game. He paid $40 of his own hard-earned cash (delivering newspapers) for it and waited patiently to have it signed by three different players, so it meant a lot to him.

While he was crying, a few people were trying to console him. A kind woman posted on her Instagram about the 'lost' hat. This all happened during the break between the 2nd and 3rd quarter. I'd hoped, and told myself as much, that the people who had taken it might just be hoping to protect it from the rain (even though we placed it in a ziploc bag for that exact same reason) and that they might returned it. Well, they never did and never returned to their seats for the rest of the game.

On a positive note. The woman who posted about the lost hat tagged the elks nation Instagram page. They immediately picked it up and shared it on their stories. During the third quarter, an elks staff brought my son a shirt and a ball. Before that, a kind gentleman seated two rows behind us who couldn't bear my son crying and was mad that someone would steal a kid's hat came over to us and offered to buy him a new elks hat. He then took him to the concession store and bought him a $41 youth elks hat.

So all in all, the good people around us came through for humanity and he left the game in a much better state.

So yeah, first football (Elks) game was eventful.

I think YouTube is doing it intentionally to force people to sign up for premium. I have Morphe on two Pixel devices and its happening on both.

Please tell me I'm missing something. When the middle bench seat is folded (either the 60% or 40%), it does not lock in place and slams back and forth, very loudly and violently, when braking and accelerating. First time it happened, it scared the bejeezus out of me as I thought my cargo had crashed through the tail gate glass. I wish I could say I've gotten used to it, but I haven't. It's very annoying. How do you keep the seat in place when only the seat is moved forward and the back rest locking mechanism unlocked to make some cargo space?

Hi everyone. My trunk recently decided to stop opening. With the doors unlocked, the button under the lift handle does not do anything when I press it. The glass part opens fine, both with the key fob and the on-car button. I have not checked any fuses or checked any codes, although I do have a Forscan-capable scanner. If anyone has experienced this, and I assume many have, can you point me in the right direction of how to troubleshoot and fix this?

I'm sick of seeing random posts from people across the world whom I've never met and with whom I have nothing in common. And they're not even marked as sponsored, just appears as if its a post from one of my Facebook friends. I believe Facebook now allows random people (profiles not pages) to boost their posts for engagement.

Posting on behalf of a friend who works in Alberta.

Her direct supervisor regularly screams at her, tells her to shut up in front of coworkers, and makes false accusations about her work. This has been ongoing for at least two years. She experiences panic attacks and constant anxiety as a result.

She is relatively new to Canada with some language limitations, which may be relevant to how she's being treated.

She wants to leave but can't afford to quit without EI. Her boss has not fired her and doesn't appear likely to. She has bills and no financial cushion.

She works at small private company so there's no HR department. The person bullying her is the business owner so there are no superiors she can report to.

Does this qualify as constructive dismissal in Alberta if she resigns due to these conditions?

Any advice from people who've dealt with similar situations in Alberta is appreciated.

A friend of mine is currently experiencing some terrible bullying and harassment by her boss who seems to have it out for her. Her boss screams at her, tell her to shut up, makes false accusations, all the works. She's constantly anxious, has experienced panic attacks, and just cries all the time. She's relatively new to the country with language limitations and doesn't know what to do. She, of course, can find a new role and she's trying but she doesn't want to quit and lose out on EI. She has bills to pay. Her boss won't fire her either. What are our options? How should she go about getting out of this situation?

I passworded an SOP I created a long time ago, at least six years. I can no longer remember the password. It's the kind that pops us when you open the file and you have to enter the password before the file can even open. Has anyone dealt with this? How did you recover your data? I've tried every password I can remember, even Claude tried with no luck.

I'm planning a family trip to the Waterton National Park end of May. It'll likely be for 2-3 days. I'm considering either booking a hotel in Lethbridge (never been) and driving into Waterton to hike, sightsee, etc. or booking a hotel in Waterton itself. Is there anything in Lethbridge worth seeing to make it worth the nearly 250km daily round trip from Lethbridge to Waterton and back? What would you do? At Jasper, we would typically stay at a hotel in Hinton and drive into Jasper every morning, but Hinton to Jasper is much shorter than Lethbridge to Waterton. Any and all recommendations welcome. I should add that I have three small children, ages 2-9. What kid-friendly hikes would you recommend?

I'm a texter. I text people and prefer to be texted. Every now and then, some family members, friends or acquaintance with send me minutes long voice messages on WhatsApp. I HATE VOICE MESSAGES and I will often not listen to them. If the person is important enough to me, I'll let them know I won't listen to the voice message and they should text me instead. Am I the only one? Is there a way to block voice messages on WhatsApp?
