The island doesn't seem to give people free will then why does it also want people to confront their past?

- The island deliberately puts people in positions where they fight off their traumatic past. For eg, Jack needs to let go of always wanting to be in control and "fixing" things, etc.

- However, it doesn't appear that the people had the free will to choose their actions. Jack for example, HAD to blow the bomb. It was literally the incident, so him blowing the bomb set things for everything to be in motion.

- Imagine a hypothetical version of Jack who genuinely lets go of his need for control before deciding to detonate the bomb.

If he truly had free will, he would say “I’m not going to do this. I don’t need to fix everything.”

But then the Incident wouldn never happen, and everything falls apart.

So it seems like the Island doesn’t actually allow Jack to make that choice which defeats the purpose of the characters trying to confront their past.

What do you think?

Interesting article I came across

I found this article which I found quite interesting and made a few things make sense. So it turns out that all the events in the island like jack finding the cave, Ben moving the island and the group escaping temporarily only to come back, and etc, were actually a long con run by the MiB...

Highly confused about the hydrogen bomb explosion

Finished the series and too many questions around this:

- Did the bomb explode?

- If it exploded why didn't everyone die?

- If it exploded and Jack, Kate and etc were transported to the future instead of dying, what about the dharma workers and Miles' father father who appeared on the dharma tapes?

How could they survive a hydrogen bomb explosion since miles' father obviously lives to talk the "incident" on the dharma tapes?

- If the bomb exploded, then what happened to the incident? Was it diverted since the electromagnetic field could no longer be released due to the explosion? If so, why does the plane crash still occur?

- Did Daniels mother have the memory that she is the killer of her own son?

Would you believe it if I said Fire + Water is one of my favorite episodes ?

I was a bit surprised seeing the hate for this episode but it's understandable I guess.

I really enjoyed it. Charlie getting beaten by the guy he looked upto as a father figure when all he was trying to do was help [even though he was wrong in his way] teared me up.

For a few people, this will hit right in the feels.

I'd be a millionaire if...

I'd a dollar for everytime

- Sawyer said "son of a BITCH"
- Sawyer said "hey doc"
- Hurley said "dude"
- Michael said "Waaaaalt"
- Claire said "my baiby"
- Sun said "my husband"
- Locke said "Hello Jack"
- Jack laughs in disbelief

I want to know what this game is called

I first came across it in the 2 Player Games collection in the app store, where it was titled Brick Blast.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.JindoBlu.TwoPlayerGamesChallenge&hl=en_IN

I’ve tried searching for other versions of the game, but I can’t seem to find it under that name.

The game is played by two players, with each player controlling a slab/paddle at opposite ends of the screen.

A ball moves between the two players, and you have to slide your slab to hit the ball and send it back toward your opponent.

If the opponent fails to hit the ball, it passes through their side and you score a point.

Need a Taoist advice for a difficult situation I currently am in

Hey everyone. I've been going through the most difficult period of my life and I hope to get the Tao's perspective on this.

I'm a guy who has struggled with Autism and ADHD all his life. My nervous system is constantly exhausted from a very difficult childhood that I had.

I then found something that for the very first time, gave me purpose in my life: Flamenco Guitar.

I became obsessed with it and immersed myself in practicing for hours every day.

It gave me a sense of purpose and aliveness that I’d never really experienced before. It made me think, yes, this is exactly what I was born to do.

However, as I've gotten older, I've had increasing burdens of an adult to get higher education in technical fields and secure a job.

The problem is that these things seem deeply at odds with how my nervous system functions.

Even relatively demanding responsibilities can leave me extremely overwhelmed and overstimulated.

A conventional full-time job would also inevitably take away a significant amount of the time and energy I currently have available for practicing guitar.

The only solution in such a case would be for me to become a professional guitarist. But unfortunately, the music I perform is extremely niche in my country to the point of being non existent.

As such, there's very few chances of being able to pursue a career in guitar.

I'm torn apart between choosing the thing that is completely in nature with me, that makes me feel alive but is practically unsustainable OR going towards something that is against my very nature.

What would the Taoist advice be in this situation?

Guadameci by Flamenco Guitarist Vicente Amigo

This is possibly the best solo guitar playing you will ever see in you life. Easily the best living guitarist.

Question on S4 finale

Hello, first time watcher here and just finished S4.

How is it that no reporter really questioned why the 6 were alive when the fake sunken plane was reported to have the exact body count of the manifest?

Ben is my favorite

For context, I'm a first time watcher and only recently finished S3. But God, this guy's acting is so insane that I find myself liking him even if he's so manipulative and bad.

I have a question about S4

I'm a first time watcher and just finished S3. I've been really enjoying the show so far but felt like S3 started off very slow (with a great few final episodes).

I was wondering if S4 starts slow or not?

How's this possible?

From has more ratings with a value of 10 than Midnight Mass.

Does this point to botted ratings because who in their right mind would rate a show like From as 10 but not Midnight Mass?

House of Usher: things to pay attention on a re-watch?

The Fall of the House of Usher was one of the best pieces of art I've ever seen

I’m completely blown away after watching this show. Everything about it, the writing, acting, and directing felt just perfect.

Bruce Greenwood and Carla Gugino’s performances were the cherry on top.

It started a little slow, but from episode 3 onward it just kept getting better and better. Every episode left me in awe of what I was watching.

I will say, it's not a show for everyone. Like Flanagan’s other work, it has a fair amount of dialogue, but personally, I was completely immersed in that too.

I’ve seen some people say it gets repetitive because of all the deaths, but for me that was actually one of the best parts! Each story made me even more curious how it's all gonna come to an end.

Overall, I was extremely impressed, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys character-driven horror.

Every new series I watch, it cements my belief that From is written purely as a cash grab

Currently watching the House of Usher by Flanagan and my mind is simply blown away. Probably the best TV series I've seen in a long time and maybe one of the best works of art I've ever seen.

Different budgets, better cast, I agree. But when we talk about the writing alone, it's like the 2 are not even in the same league.

There's a good amount of dialogue in the show and absolutely NONE of it bored me. THIS is how you write drama shows, and yet they try to convince you From is a "drama" show.

You need to be watching this show.

Wrong dialogue. Correct dialogue: This is when the redditors tear themselves apart

Disappointing finale to a disappointing season

The finale was quite predictable and underwhelming. Season 4 with 10 episodes barely had anything of substance that happened.

Everything in this show is based off of hallucinations and vague memories.

Tabitha looks at the skull and she immediately knows it was which kid that was sacrificed.

Apparently, the entire show is based on rituals yet the writers are least bit bothered to give us any glimpse of the original ritual that occurred in the past.

Some scenes are purely non-sensical. Fatima starts screaming at the monsters in the cave and somehow that stops the monsters from attacking Boyd, Tabitha and Jade?

Henry, the Golem, Ellis, Elgin, Marielle, Clara, Julie, Donna, had literally ZERO progress throughout the entire season.

All around stupid and a complete insult in the face of the viewer's watch time.

This is a cash cow for MGM. I am glad it's over. Will not continue with S05.
