Every new series I watch, it cements my belief that From is written purely as a cash grab

Currently watching the House of Usher by Flanagan and my mind is simply blown away. Probably the best TV series I've seen in a long time and maybe one of the best works of art I've ever seen.

Different budgets, better cast, I agree. But when we talk about the writing alone, it's like the 2 are not even in the same league.

There's a good amount of dialogue in the show and absolutely NONE of it bored me. THIS is how you write drama shows, and yet they try to convince you From is a "drama" show.

You need to be watching this show.

Wrong dialogue. Correct dialogue: This is when the redditors tear themselves apart

Disappointing finale to a disappointing season

The finale was quite predictable and underwhelming. Season 4 with 10 episodes barely had anything of substance that happened.

Everything in this show is based off of hallucinations and vague memories.

Tabitha looks at the skull and she immediately knows it was which kid that was sacrificed.

Apparently, the entire show is based on rituals yet the writers are least bit bothered to give us any glimpse of the original ritual that occurred in the past.

Some scenes are purely non-sensical. Fatima starts screaming at the monsters in the cave and somehow that stops the monsters from attacking Boyd, Tabitha and Jade?

Henry, the Golem, Ellis, Elgin, Marielle, Clara, Julie, Donna, had literally ZERO progress throughout the entire season.

All around stupid and a complete insult in the face of the viewer's watch time.

This is a cash cow for MGM. I am glad it's over. Will not continue with S05.

If the main goal was to extract suffering, why create any form of happiness at all?

If the main goal of the prison planet was to maximise the suffering of people to feed off, why not create a world where any form of happiness is impossible?

Like a farm where all humans continuously get tortured while simultaneously reproducing. I mean that would be optimal right? Why allow a few people to be happy, a few people to suffer?

Did anybody else feel like episode 9 was way too fast paced?

As much I criticize the slow pacing, I felt the pacing of this last episode was quite off too. They dumped so many things all at once. Sophia coming out to Clara, Elgin finding the photo, Clara poisoning Fatima, and then immediately cutting off to the tunnel scene. Overall, it was still better than the last few episodes but this episode should be drawn out better had they not wasted so much time previously imo.

The doll scene would have had much more impact if Ellis died

This isn't a Ellis hate post.

I feel the writers could have made the scene so much more impactful by killing off somebody major like Ellis. Instead, we had a side character die who barely anybody knew before. Just my 2 cents.

The slowest animal, the Three Toed Sloth moves at 0.15 mph. Could From's pacing be more than this guy?

Discuss.

I loved the show so much that I set this as my new wallpaper

And honestly it looks really sick either ways.

Is it plausible for the cycle to never be stopped ?

There seems to be hint in the intro song. Que Sara Sara as for "whatever will be will be". Do you think the show might end with the cycle not being broken and everyone except Ethan dying and continuing into the next cycle. How'd you feel about this ending?

I feel like this is my most favorite show of all

I've seen Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Midnight Mass, Haunting of Hill House and many more.

I really feel that this is my new favourite show of all time. It might be controversial because the names above are in the hall of fame of top television of the century, but Widows Bay still tops them all for me.

There's something strangely comforting about this show. I have rewatched the episodes atleast 3 times by now and feel like watching even more. I couldn't say the same about the others even though I still hold them in high regards.

From's writing makes it seem like it's written by a bunch high schoolers

This show keeps insulting the audience with one episode after another. With the recent episode 8 of season 4, you'd expect things to switch gears. But nope.

The show is basically 40 minutes of little plot movement followed by 10 minutes of some actual important stuff happening at the very end.

I recently started widows Bay and although it'd be unfair to compare them due to the difference in budget, it made a mockery of From. After watching From since the past few months, it made me realise that this is how TV shows are to be made.

The directors of From have clearly no idea where they are going. They have created so many loose ends and they have given little hope it's all going to be tied up. Don't bother watching this unless it's a binge watch.

Thanks to From, I almost forgot how good TV shows can be, then Widows Bay came along

I finally had enough with From. I kept getting disappointed every single episode hoping the story would move but nothing. I kept hoping, that they would actually switch gears somewhere , but this last season was the final nail in the coffin for me.

I switched to Widows Bay (currently on E3) and it made me realise how bad From is! Every single thing right from the pacing to the writing to acting to cinematography, they have nailed everything that From failed to do since the first season.

I'm glad we now have a new show because honestly From is an insult to the audience's watch time.

I can time travel but giant dolls is where I draw the line

Why is the writing sometimes stupid ? Julie had this expression during this scene like 'giant dolls? Do you hear yourself how stupid you sound mom?'. As if she's not doing something even crazier lol. It irks me.

Movie recommendation: Hokum

No spoilers.

This movie had been on my watch list ever since it came out thanks to the director's earlier really good releases, namely Caveat and Oddity.

Safe to say, this movie didn't disappoint in the slightest and went above and beyond.

It's one of the best movies I've seen since the Wailing, and is now easily in my top horror picks.

Starts a bit slow, but then nails the atmospheric dread along with a very intriguing plot.

Extremely good watch. I recommend that you watch this.

Movie recommendation: AM1200

No spoilers.

Yesterday I made a post recommending The Empty Man. A couple of users in the comments recommended this flick by the same director.

I was thoroughly impressed. The director can definitely nail that tense and eerie vibe better than anyone.

Very scary, and exactly like TEM, it keeps you on your toes throughout.

It's a short 40 minute film based on Lovecraftian horror. Free to watch on Vimeo and Youtube.

I recommend you watch this movie.

Movie recommendation: The Empty Man

No spoilers.

I was pleasantly surprised with this movie. I'd little hope because the title sounded cheesy af but the movie delivered well and beyond.

If you're into occult horror like The Medium, Wailing, Exhuma, etc, then you'd like this.

It's not quite there in quality as the above , but they nailed the atmosphere of the movie. No cheap jumpscares and you're on your toes for pretty much the entirety of the plot. The starting 25 minutes is especially top quality.

The story is a bit confusing at first but with the help of a reddit comment, I was able to infer the story much better .

I recommend you to watch this movie.

Disgusted at this post I came across

One of them actually makes a decent point for the first time but the others jump to defend this depravity calling him 'saint tanner'.

For those who don't , the man in title recently killed a 7 year old girl.
