How to explain burnout to father?
My dad is undiagnosed ADHD, and I went no contact with him during my autism diagnosis journey because of how he reacted and treated me during that difficult time. We reconciled this year.
I'm currently in severe burnout since at least fall of 2024. I haven't had a steady job since July last year. As I try to talk to my dad about burnout and why I can't just go get a fast food or retail job, he responds as if it's a matter of trying harder.
I tried to explain that forcing myself into even deeper stress (adding a nightmare job on top of the current work I'm trying to succeed at, financial/existential stress, etc. makes me literally pray that each day will be my last. I'm not suicidal, I just constantly wish for death.
How can I explain it in a way he might understand? Is it possible?
