Fresh/2 years/almost 5 years

Brit at KarmaKnife in Jackson MI knows how to do some solid long lasting color 🫡 I could not be more thankful for her!!

First pics of each are fresh, second are 2 years later each, last pic of magikarp is almost 5 years in. Don’t mind the last photo of each, I snapped them quick and my photo quality is not the best 💀

Also, any blown lines in the magikarp can be thanked to getting stretch marks on my thighs with my greenery 😭 lowkey devastated over it

Two track mic iPhone

I’m hosting a live podcast this weekend, and the issue we’re running into is that the location has awful acoustics, but the live will be streamed from my iPhone. We need two track mics that connect direct to the phone, and all the ones I’ve found have 360 sound instead of single direction.

The one I’m on the fence about has 360 sound, but the ability to mute each individually from the mic. I’m trying to avoid having to mute ourselves every time we switch who is talking.

Any suggestions? I think this would be resolved by mics that only take sound instead one direction, but struggling to find any that connect direct to the phone for live recording. Advice? This is the first live stream we’re doing with two people where a mic is required. Location is an old mansion, awful echoes 😅

Memorial for my orange boy done today at KarmaKnife by Taylor Chunn

We lost our orange cat earlier this year very suddenly while we were in the hospital with our baby (thankfully baby is totally ok). It was so sudden and nothing the vets could do.

Got a memorial piece today for Butternut, my golden boy and box eating kitty. Miss you butt man 💔

Thank you Taylor!! It’s perfect (Jackson MI)

How long is it safe to be outside with this bad of air quality?

Hello! The air quality from smoke right now is 238 and climbing, my neighbors houses are visibly hazy. It’s expected to be worse in the morning.

I work hybrid, and can choose to stay home, but I have a baby who goes to daycare. We’d have to be outside to walk to the car, strap him in, and walk him into daycare, then have myself get to work. Is air quality this bad or worse worth calling in/working remote with baby (my team is ok with either of these on occasion) to stay home and keep us both indoors until it improves (expected to significantly by Friday morning)? Or am I being overly cautious?

Thank you weather friends! I know almost nothing about this

EDIT: woke up to 390 or 475 depending on the weather service- baby and I are staying in. Looks like a dense fog outside of smoke 😬

No WiFi baby monitors?

I’m looking for a baby monitor that doesn’t have WiFi. We currently have a WiFi one, but I’m about to be sent to my grave by how unreliable it is staying connected (not our WiFi, the device and app have consistent issues).

My wants are:
-video screen not needing WiFi
-decent range as I garden often while baby naps
-camera can wall-mount
-if it can have two screens that’s a bonus
-same with split screen

We don’t want to spend hundreds on a monitor, but I’m losing it with this one. We have an audio only one, but I like to be able to peek and see if my almost 1 year old is actually waking up, needs help, or is just talking in his sleep

Celebrate a big win with me

My baby is 10 months old, and I struggled really badly with post parting anxiety and OCD. It’s still there in many ways, but the last two nights I’ve been able to sleep with just the audio monitor on, and not having to have the video monitor live streaming full volume next to my bed all night. I only have to turn it on if I hear a sound to see if he’s awake.

This is huge for me, it feels small, but I’d love to celebrate the win 🥹

So thirsty??

Has anyone else experienced this? How did you fix it?

Hi all, I’m not currently pregnant and my son weaned of breastfeeding 6 months ago, and I STILL have the constant thirst/dry mouth/dehydrated feeling. I have POTS, so before pregnancy I averaged half a gallon to a gallon of water a day, and when BF I averaged 2-2.5 gallons. I thought it would get better after I weaned but no. I can still drink 2 gallons a day and STILL BE SO THIRSTY

I add electrolytes at least once a day, salt in every glass (thanks POTS), magnesium supplements at night for anxiety, diet is iffy since we’re still just eating what we can with busy lives, I have one cup of coffee a day MAX, am not doing intense workouts or too much time in the sun, but I feel like I’m going crazy. I can wake up for the day and drink half a gallon alone in the first hour just to stave off the headache.

Is this happening to anyone? Is this just PP with POTS? I’m sure I left things out, but I feel like I’m going crazy all the time

Doodling while i work

Decided to draw some nature while in between takes at work. It’s been over a year since I last picked up a pen. Pretty happy with this for a cheap ballpoint 🥰

Wtf are we doing about baby clothes with chunky babies?

My baby is 9 months and in the 85-95th percentile in weight and height (forget exact numbers for both). He’s standing, trying to walk, and crawling everywhere, but still a big chunky guy.

Onesies 12-18 months fit him well, but THE PANTS. Everything seems to keep getting skinnier in the legs the larger size we get. 12 month will barely go around his waist, but 18-24 month the legs get SO skinny they squeeze him and I can’t get him in. Where do we find pants built for chunky legs? 😭 24 months fit better, but they’re crazy long and still so skinny.

Hoya from my great grandmother hadn’t stopped blooming for over a year

I got a cutting from my great grandma’s 50 year old Hoya about 4 years ago, it’s now massive and so happy it’s bloomed for over a year straight! Every time the flowers die, more come on. It always has 2-20 on it at a time 🥰

Why does it seem like every mom I meet LOVES AI??

I’m a mom of 1, and I have some AMAZING friends. We all love to chat with strangers, and often invite new moms and kids we’ve met during the week to our larger playdates at the park/coffee shop stops/library runs.

Why is it every time I think I meet someone really cool, they say something like ‘oh well I was talking to Chat’, ‘Chat gave me a new recipe to try’, ‘my kid is doing this, and Chat says they’re advanced’.

I didn’t realize how reliant on ChatGPT the world is, and I get the biggest ick when people bring it up casually 😭 Apparently my close friends are all with me on this, because none of us use it, and all get weirded out by how casually other moms use it for everything

Busy moms, how do you find time to fit it all in?

Hi friends! Going to preface this with I am very happy and life is good, but man is it overwhelming at times, and I’d love your advice on how you manage things/stay on top of everything that needs to be done.

A quick snapshot of life is- we have a baby, both work full time jobs, have 3 pets, a flock of chickens, a homestead with a garden to feed us for the year, canning and preserving all of this, cosmetic home remodel in progress, tons of hobbies outside the homestead, friends, and then just life and house upkeep.

Life is insanely busy, and my husband is a godsend who splits everything 50/50 (at times does more than me). We’re feeling the overwhelm of managing it all without letting things fall through the cracks. We’ll think we’re on top of it, and then forget laundry for a week, or the kitchen will be a disaster without realizing it, or we’ll forget an event or appointment.

Currently I keep a physical calendar we both add to, try to make a day plan, but I swear we always think all is well and forget something 😅

What are your tips and tricks for keeping organized and keeping on top of it all? I swear I haven’t found something yet, because reminders on my phone never help, and I let things go too long without remembering them with the never ending list of tasks every day/week/month

Did anyone have a good Mother’s Day?

All I see are negative posts, and I’m shocked.

My husband was on a 3 day weekend drip (pre-planned for months, we talked and agreed and both forgot it was Mother’s Day weekend haha). I went out for coffee with my baby this morning and enjoyed chatting with the other coffee shop regulars, met some new people, and had so much fun playing with the baby today. He got home around 5 with flowers, a card, my favorite kombucha, and took our son for bedtime. He also is giving me the entire next weekend to get the garden planted without a baby in tow (I wanted a day, he’s giving me the whole weekend 🥹).

I’m so thankful he does so much and truly is my partner in life and parenting, and I honestly just feel shocked by the number of people who had such bad experiences. Did anyone else have a good day?
