Interviewing for my first attending job tomorrow (noninvasive), gas me up so I feel less nervous? Or tell me fun/interesting stories from your interviews

Self descriptive title, delete if not allowed because I acknowledge this is a low effort post. But yeah despite having few objective reasons to be nervous, I feel like it’s the day before step 1 again or something. This is less a “what questions do I ask / what should I look for etc” because I feel like I have a decent sense of that from talking to different faculty and doing my own research / introspection as to what I’m looking for. But if anyone has anything to share in that realm I’d certainly welcome any advice.

Rainbow veggie pasta with some kale blended in the sauce, roasted mini peppers, and strawberries

20 month old proceeded to eat the strawberries and then dump the rest on the floor 🫠 the kale admittedly made the pasta sauce a different (and less appetizing) color, but it did fly under her radar before. She ate a few bites of roasted broccoli yesterday so it’s hit or miss with the veggies.

Berries and impossible nuggets

Preceded by a mandarin orange, not pictured. Plus a bit of shredded cheese. She’s growing like a weed and eating accordingly 😁

Those of you who have worn fragrance to job interviews, what did you choose?

This isn’t meant to provoke a debate about whether it’s a good idea to wear perfume to a job interview. I’m not about to hose myself down with guidance 46 and singe everyone’s nose hairs. But I’ve got an interview coming up and even if I end up wearing nothing (scent-wise, I do intend to show up clothed), I’m still curious what yall would pick.

Just ordered my first pair (fannylove 85mm) and I’m having big feelings lol

Idk which flair to use, and not even sure if this is allowed. Won’t take it personally if deleted.
Context: I’m a doctor. Only one in the family. I’ve been in post graduate training for five years, will be six years when I’m done. I have an interview lined up for an attending job. I needed a pair of basic, versatile black pumps for the occasion, and just in general, as I had never invested in anything remotely durable.

I was browsing for cheap shoes as usual when I suddenly asked myself… why? I can afford something higher quality. I can’t afford multiple pairs (yet), but I can get A pair of designer shoes I’ve dreamed of forever. I have worked my behind all the way off for YEARS to get into a competitive field, and I’ll be working in an area where there is a huge shortage of physicians.

Maybe some folks find this style boring, but it’s perfect for me. I’ll get something more vibrant for graduation but I am proud to start my collection here :) unfortunately I don’t live near a store, so I had to take a risk by sizing up 1/2 size and cross my fingers. Anyway that’s the rant, thanks for listening! What was your first pair??

Trying my best!

After being infamously bad for most of my life at keeping plants alive, I slowly started tending to a garden outside. Since I managed to not kill anything for a few months, I allowed myself to get a few succulents to add some charm to my office area. These, too, seem to have stayed alive for several weeks now. I have them in a mini “greenhouse” mainly to keep them safe from cats. Little USB fan in there for airflow. Grow lights on a timer. Feel free to provide feedback on anything that’s glaringly wrong. The string of pearls gets watered from the bottom every…week-ish? Depending on how dry the soil gets. The others are less frequent. Kinda going on vibes at this point.

Can toddlers get PTSD?

A couple of months ago, our 20 month old had to be hospitalized for metapneumovirus. She did fine after a couple days, just needed a little oxygen and fluids. However, due to severe congestion, she had to periodically be burrito’d up, held down, and get her sinuses flushed/suctioned out. This absolutely terrified her. She must’ve felt like she was being water boarded. Poor kiddo just had no idea what was happening.
We had been going to weekly swim classes since she was 9 months old. She enjoyed them well enough aside from occasional meltdowns if timing didn’t work well with her nap, nothing unusual for a toddler. However, since she went back to swim after taking time to recuperate from her illness, she has hated being in the pool. Clings to our nanny for dear life, basically has a meltdown the whole time. I didn’t realize how bad it was until I brought her myself because our nanny is off. My husband said he suspects it’s a PTSD kind of reaction to her experience in the hospital and associating that with the water. She doesn’t react to the bath this way, though, but obviously the pool is bigger and she’s actually periodically submerged.
I want her to learn water safety, but I think we’re going to pause swim lessons for now. Maybe try some music lessons since she absolutely loves singing.
Has anyone had an experience like this? Did things get better with time?

I know next to nothing about yarn, but my mom is amazing when it comes to fiber arts of many kinds, and just about everything she sets her mind to. She’s an irritatingly good gift giver (but wants for very little herself) so I struggle every occasion to come up with something worthy. I’ve avoided gifting her knitting related things in the past because I feel like it’s hard to get it right when someone is very experienced at a particular craft, but I know for a fact she’d never buy herself something this expensive but has probably been curious about it at least. I’m just really proud to treat her to something ridiculously special because I wouldn’t be where I am without her support. Thanks for listening haha
