WIP of my Liche (Necromancer proxy)

My black knights just looked wrong alongside a mortal with flesh and blood. With some cutting, extra bits and a smaller horse, they look generally distinct from a hexwraith. I think the little pack makes them a bit more permanent at the very least. Implies he plans on sticking around cuz they’re keeping knick knacks and stuff. I think they’re very cute!

Have you guys ever had to rescue your own models?

People talk about saving other people’s models all the time, but does anyone else have to periodically rescue their own half finished projects? This is a Frankensteined Kravek Morne proxy to lead my obliterators. I think he’s microdosing the obliterator virus, because his back is sprouting self-defense weapons and his hands are swollen with combi-bolters.

The terminator squad I borrowed the body from was one of the first 40K kits I built. I was in a weird limbo of wanting to be more creative than the instructions, but lacking any real modeling experience. I cut up the trophy racks and lost all the fingers to the power fists, which meant finding creative ways to fill in the empty void. They were junk, and a full squad is unsalvageable.

The poor terminator lord was submerged in isopropyl alcohol and forgotten for probably a year. When I found him, I discovered all the magnets corroded and expanded because of their long term bath, which blew up both ends of the shoulder socket. The body was ruined, but despite how silly that little guy looks next to his big beefy brothers the guns look really good.

My concept has been proofed, now I strip him and clean him up good to get ready for paint. The 90 or so dollars I spent 6 years ago is gone, all I have left now is plastic and internalized shame. But, I also have him, and he’s pretty cool I think so far I am happy with him. I am the architect and the builder…

Should I do anything to spice up this skitarii hood head swap for my Warpsmith?

Love the Warpsmith model, and I think adding the hood gives the finished thing a really cool Dark Mechanicum Enginseer vibe. I like the smaller proportions, like his entire head has been replaced by a cybernetic one.

I do think it’s missing that last piece though. The Warpsmith model isn’t as mutated and organic as other csm hq choices, paired with this minimalist hood I think it looks kinda plain in grey at least. I am painting it in a metallic alpha legion scheme, which could make everything pop a bit more… what do yall think?

Special Operative PRIMUS

A custom Primus for my Mechanicus themed army. Saw the Pteraxii alpha head and loved its weird gimp tentacle schtick, which fits perfectly alongside my Acolyte leader which I posted a few days ago.

I was a bit excited gluing sub assemblies together and probably made cleanup an even bigger pain in the ass. Regardless, it’s nice when a bunch of random ebay bits block up nicely when even some gw kits don’t end up in natural poses, so I felt I wanted to post anyway!

Something’s got into the forge-menials…

I still gotta clean up a bunch of annoying bits but I’m so happy with the poses I just gotta post them. I’m never as happy with my paint jobs as I am my kitbashes….

Loved the malstrain lore from Necromunda, so I tried to make some science experiments cooked up mad scientist style by a Xenarite Biologis. Genestealer hybrid cyborgs, the perfect life-forms and holy union of the cold logic of the sword and of the machine.

.13% increase in productivity, at the cost of a malignant heterodoxy among forge-menials. Truly, my remarkable genius is unmatched…

Im a college student and I’m looking for a summer project so I don’t waste 2 months going from work to my gaming chair every day. I rode dirt bikes as a kid and always felt the itch to get back into motorcycles, but frankly, a new or lightly used modern bike is simply too expensive of an initial investment, and I’m not going to make payments on what is essentially a toy.

I wouldn’t consider myself a mechanic by any means. I’ve helped friends modify their cars and I’ve done basic maintenance on my own, but nothing as involved as rebuilding a top end. Though, from what I’ve seen online, the Ke100 is relatively simple mechanically, so I’m feeling rather confident in my ability to “restore” one.

The Ke100’s near me are all either abused or neglected. I was planning on buying a “parked a few years ago” example that isn’t running for about 500 dollars, which is a price I can stomach if life wants to teach me a lesson, worst case scenario.

Am I being too ambitious? I know any project can snowball and cost more than it would be worth, but a simple 2 stroke thumper feels like a relatively accessible and safe choice. Are there any other bikes I should look out for? I’d love to know what experienced riders and mechanics think!
