>!So I’m only 110 pages into book 2 and the Vis in Lucideum (world that’s not Res or Obiteum) has given up…on his former life already for some reason???

So the reason I’m posting is because I’m very confused on this world’s Vis’s motivations. So this is how we currently stand: Res Vis (original) doesn’t know about anything with the other worlds and is just living in his world.

Obiteum Vis knows about everything so far - that’s he’s a “copy” sent to this world and all the other lore. And has been told he can’t get home.

Meanwhile the Lucideum Vis doesn’t know anything - thinks he’s just at some weird, far-away part of the world, I guess, right?

So why is my dude speaking like he’s given up on getting back to “home” like he’s knows he can’t? And why is he already calling it his former life and making peace with not going back and living in his current one?

I’m really confused. It’s like the author forgot what this world’s Vis knows and why isn’t he motivated like hell to get back to his academy and all his friends? Anyone else find this writing weird in this part of the book? No spoilers past 110 please!<

I’m sorry. I just started the strength of the few (100 pages in) but holy hell…I’m really getting tired of “gods-damned” in this book.

Like I get it; in real life, people always have a phrase they favor to say. But like…it is used way too much to the point of profound irritation to me.

I’m new to this community, so please don’t roast me if this has been brought up. But does it annoy everyone else as it does me? Like it’s too much, right?

So I tried to ask Google but I really just need to know: why the hell are new books so expensive now. Like…is there some disruption in paper and the products that go into making books? The hell is going on?

I got to the check out and was just gobsmacked at the cost. I bought Carrie new a few months ago (super thin book, btw) and that price was ridiculous.

I really am asking: is there some disruption in supply chains or is this the new normal? I want to suppprt authors but holy hell…really?!

So I am in no way a writer, just an aspiring one. And I’ve started my journey of trying to write a little each day and building my “writer’s muscle”.

But I’m curious: what’s your writing style? Do you do the “seed” writing like Stephen King, where you just kind of start and see where it goes? Or are you a heavy planner, drafting out rough outlines of plot beats and where the story goes - like Brandon Sanderson? Just very interested to gauge everyone’s style.

For me personally, I guess I’m a “seed” writer. Right now I just want writing to be enjoyable, where there’s no pre-planning; I just write as I go and enjoy it.

The bonus missions really show me Halo studios have no idea who the chief is, how he conducts himself, or hell how a prophet talks…

I just got to the cutscene where chief, Johnson run into a prophet and the banter is….awful.

“I would think you of all people would appreciate our dedication to improvement”

“Is that what you call it?!”

…like bro…..first off prophets aren’t…like this banter isn’t them. And that banter from chief isn’t him. And the tone chief takes with Johnson and what he says isn’t chief-like.

Like…I grew up reading the Eric nylund novels and that perfectly encapsulates what the world is - the Spartans aren’t exactly robots, but damned if they aren’t military-primed killing machines. They have feelings, snd they aren’t psychopaths, but they’re not going to “get” into witty banter and morality emotional talks with the covenant,

Anyone else just sad by this writing? They just don’t get halo at all.

Edit: the only person the chief would let his “facade” down a little with would either be Cortana (his partner) or some do his other Spartans he trained with…and even then, it doesn’t drop much. He’ll, it’s not even a facade, he is a born and bred military man with not much nonsense and def not witty banter.

So I am an anime only, freshly off season 3.

And I just have a horrible feeling that it will be revealed at a future date that one of Loid’s parents - if not possibly both - may still be alive.

At least in the anime, it’s never hard confirmed Loid’s dad died on his visit to the east (or was it just a visit somewhere in the west, can’t remember) . And in the case of his mother, we never actually see a body. Prob more probable his dad is alive than his mom but you get my point.

I really don’t want his to happen, as it would just feel…cheap. But I have a feeling it def will.

So, any plot points you hope doesn’t happen/direction the story goes? Also, do you think his parents could possibly be alive as well?

So I have a very small grasp on grammar. Of course I can put some basic sentences together, but ive really lost the technical sense of why and how, if that makes sense?

Basically, can anyone point me in the direction of great, free resources to educate me on grammar? Like I mean from the beginning - verbs, adverbs, sentences composition etc

So I am an anime-only watcher here (just finished season 3, episode 50).

And I’m just wondering how everyone here feels (manga and anime alike - up to whatever chapter the anime ended if manga, please no spoilers beyond that) about the pacing of Yor and Loid’s relationship?

What I mean is: I feel like it’s very heart-warming that their relationship this far has been built on mostly platonic, partner-parenting bonds. It’s nice to see people working together and growing closer platonically over time without a huge dose of romance. (Obviously we have Yor blushing and I experience hinting at romantic feelings I guess but I kinda don’t count those fully toward romance being shown)

But…I’m kinda disappointed that we haven’t seen evidence of Loid have the beginning of feeling…romantic toward her? I get it - he’s a spy, his habits are built up to look at everything analytically - and through that, we can see him refer to the “mission” when trying to explain his feelings for his family and we can see true emotion start to bleed through in that sense, but we haven’t really seen much romantic feelings for Yor bleed through yet if that makes sense? And that kinda stinks. Anyone else kinda disappponted by that (and if currently in the manga that has progressed, I don’t mind being told that - just please don’t go into detail)

Another question: I also saw on here that the chapter corresponding to episode 50 actually had more of a hint towards romantic feelings in that Yor was framed with halo and other details that didn’t translate to the anime adaption for some reason, so maybe the manga had given more romantic hints that the anime didn’t adapt? If you can inform of that too or if episode 50 adaption was the only misstep, that would be appreciated.

So as a healer (playing either Luna Snow/Jeff/White Fox) whenever one of these three (the DPS I mentioned) get in the backfield and come after me, am I just screwed?

I know with Luna I can try to freeze and make an escape (but I can’t start up my ice skiing sprint fast enough to get far enough ahead) and I can’t 1 on 1 these guys, they have ridiculous health pools or overshield whatever it is. Jeff can’t get away fast enough and only option with white fix is teleport to a nearby person (only if it’s not on cooldown).

Like what are the strategies I can use so these guys aren’t just getting in the backfield and messing me up every time? Just had a match where I couldn’t get anything done and kept getting messed up by these characters.

Is it on the DPS to try to counter this and protect me? Or is there something I’m not doing to escape? Just need some advice. Becuase it sucked and kills my enjoyment of the game every time it happens. Is it my fault? It is just this unfair?

Edit: on the main marvels rivals subreddit, someone suggest I move with the unit and not stay back. While this is solid advice, I don’t stay that far back. I am usually bundled up in the group actively in the fray, I just have myself positioned in the back of the group ball so I’m not target easily and I can have a view of where everyone is. But I’m not super far back. Should I get more to the side of what?

Why the hell didn’t the faculty capture the invader who mind-controlled Orobas after he was knocked unconscious from the arrow? Why just leave it at that? It’s really bothering me.

So I discovered this series when it first premiered 2019 and watched the second season and then kinda dropped off on it. Wasn’t the fault of the show, I just think it was when it was broadcasting weekly and I quit my Crunchyroll subscription due to finances and just didn’t go back to it over the years.

Well now I have started my rewatch of it (currently on second season) to get through all the new content, and I’ve gotta say: what a dang fine show, my dudes.

It’s just so wholesome, tells an engaging story with engaging characters and fun, and it actually had arcs and character growth. And the animation is fine to good but it’s pretty consistent so far. And I really needed it right now - I’ve been down and kinda just not feeling good. But it’s just so dang wholesome and good and cheery and engaging I just wanted to shout it out and hopefully people who have never seen it will see this post and engage with it.

So basically, who else out there really enjoys it and what do you like about it and just general discuss please. I love this show and finding it again has improved my mood significantly.

And please put any spoilers in their appropriate hidden form for myself and others if you do post them.

So I frequent this subreddit a lot and notice there is A LOT of negativity towards being an adult. I don’t blame you guys. There’s a ton of negative stuff in my life right now from the fact of merely being an adult. But just to lighten the mood, I want to say some positive aspects of being an adult. First off:

1. You can stay up as late as you want (of course, as an adult, you have to weigh the risks - should I really stay up so late with work tomorrow? Etc

So I’m a huge fan of the mangacka - loved Fullmetal alchemist and really, really loved silver spoon.

BUT…daemons is good so far but…it’s just kinda boring, I guess? The MCs just really generic - like beyond generic and the overall sort of mystery of “why are these two factions opposed and what are their real intentions/secrets” just isn’t that engaging to me. They’re trying to get me to warm up to the sister’s faction but…they slaughtered a village of mostly innocent people and in front of their children without batting an eyelash…I dunno. The series is just all over the place and I’m just wondering if anyone else feels the same way? Like I said, huge fan of this author but really surprised with the lame duck feeling I am getting from it.

So, don’t call me a mind reader, I can’t do that. But I def feel confident in being able to describe to you what is EXACTLY going on with Wingo and what WILL happen.

So currently, he’s taking a break from the internet. Yes, he implies he quit, but we know this won’t last. So what happened to make him pull this extended break in the guise of a quitting the internet? Well, my assumptions is he sold the trial boss or a car or whatever/pulling from savings to live off of for a while, because he thinks he’s going to use that money in the meantime until he finds a job that doesn’t have to do with the internet.

BUT

We all know where this goes. Guys not even going to really try that hard to find a job - because we all know his lazy ass has no motivation to actually change hill life. And hell, he’s got the best job on planet earth and is ungrateful as hell - literally only having to work two-three hours five days a week to sustain himself.

So here’s my prediction: when he comes back, he will go into some rant saying “couldn’t find work becuase I’m a land monster with a bad hip and I’m doing this for Kelly coming back becuase I want to earn money for her life”

So I’m currently in a bind:

I am currently scheduled for two agility tests with two different police departments:

1. my local police department scheduled for July
2. out of town police department scheduled for June

So I really want to work for my local police department, because no commute and of course I know the area since I grew up here.

But is passing the agility tests a guarantee for employment? I was thinking about calling the out of town police department and letting them know that I would not attend theirs because I got contacted for my local. But if passing the test isn’t guaranteed employment, should I just attend both? I don’t want to waste the time of the out of town one of passing the local is guaranteed hiring.

Need advice. Don’t want the waste the time of either police department.

(P.S. I know for sure I will pass the physical assessment. I’ve been training for both and can easily perform the mentioned requirements.)

So I just finished this series and have two points:

So…

1. poor teacher I guess is forever trapped in the mirror.

2. Mirai definitely doesn’t deserve a happy ending. Literally used her husband to forge CURSE babies BOTH times. Wonder how he would react if he she told him she was using him as a baby batter dispenser so she could get revenge on her family. And literally it takes finding out your mother loved you to NOT kill your child? Really? Like what an awful person.

I liked the series but I have big big big issues with Mirai and how…I dunno she got off wayyy too clean for the horrible stuff she did to her family.

Was anyone else super bother by Mirai and just how…I dunno. She was really, really despicable.

So I’m literally 5 minutes in…and don’t know whether I want to continue. The premise is pretty dumb so far - lady received 100, 000, 000 yen and is told she is now participating in the liar’s game…but like…she or her family isn’t being threatened, the rules just say she will have to pay the difference in any money she loses.

But like…just go to the police and say I didn’t know what the package was and lawyer up? Like…I know she’s talking to the lawyer in the beginning and he says why she can’t go to the police…but even then the lawyer just seems to be an idiot and the reasoning doesn’t make sense.

Anyone else feel this premise is super terrible and its premise doesn’t even hold up in the first few minutes?

Like if they said “hey we’ll kill your father if you don’t comply” or something to that effect her participation would make more sense but…I dunno.

Hello, All, another lost lamb looking for answers here.

I have a degree and masters related to a healthcare job but don’t quit that job a while ago and don’t want to get into healthcare again in any form. Job has been shaky, with only a combined span of about five months of working in 2 years of unemployment. Ran out of savings. Depression makes me have no motivation or goals (also just think years of college and then the healthcare job took out any effort I felt like I could give. Feel like my soul has been drained out).

I am looking for something I can have a career in (all right pay, retirement plan, okay health insurance options) without a degree.

Currently looking into policeman or military for obvious reasons (amazing benefits). But does anyone else have any good jobs for someone like me? Any ideas? I’m just lost here.

Unfortunately, don’t think military will work. I am currently on blood pressure meds and anti anxiety meds and I’ve read they hate that and will only accept you if you’ve been medically cleared of them for two years. So screw you too military. So currently trying policeman but wouldd rather work another career anyways. Any ideas?
