I need some advice regarding my career.

I am currently a first-year B.Tech Mechanical Engineering student in a government college in Madhya Pradesh, and my second-semester exams will start on 30 July. Ever since I finished 12th grade, I have wanted to study cybersecurity and ethical hacking, but due to various reasons, I joined Mechanical Engineering.

Now I am seriously considering changing colleges and pursuing a degree related to cybersecurity or computer science. My parents are supportive and have told me that I can choose what I want to do.

I genuinely enjoy cybersecurity and the ethical hacking side of things, but I am confused about whether changing colleges and branches is the right decision. My family's budget is around ₹1 lakh per year for college fees and another ₹1 lakh per year for living expenses.

I have a few questions:

1. Is changing from Mechanical Engineering to Cybersecurity/CSE after the first year a good idea?

2. Should I choose a dedicated cybersecurity degree or a regular CSE degree and specialize later?

3. Are there any good colleges in Madhya Pradesh or nearby states within my budget?

4. Has anyone here made a similar switch? How did it turn out?

Any advice from people working in cybersecurity or students who changed branches would be really helpful.

I'm pretty much decided on buying it. Before I place the order, I just wanted to ask:
