I have seen many people recommend How to Keep House While Drowning, and many commenters say, "I bought it but I haven't read it yet."
Same here.
I wonder if anyone wants to read or listen to it over the next week or two (it's a 3 hour listen) and have a chat swapping takeaways? I am half way though the first chapter and i already like how she reframes chores as care tasks.
Not sure if this is against the rules. I'd love to connect with some fellow women who are high performing everywhere but our home environments. I want to talk strategies.
I have no affiliation with the author.
Edit: let's think about it like it's digital body doubling
I've been on so many medical *~JoUrNiEs~* and I here* *with this newest one.
I have spondyloarthritis, and I thought my aches, pains, fatigue etc would be managed with remicade. Well lo and behold the remicade relieved the inflammatory arthritis and now I'm back to being hypermobile.
I've had recurring injuries this summer and I have felt like my knees are trying to escape from their rightful place so I set up PT to address my suspicion of just joint hypermobility.
My PT told me the random things I've been to their clinic make sense with hypermobility and she recommended getting evaluated for EDS or Hypermobility disorder. I cried being told I make sense.
It's been years of not making sense.
I followed up with my rheumatologist, I have pain management back in the rotation and I'm doing PT while waiting on availability with a hypermobility specialist in Dallas to be evaluated and diagnosed.
My rheum suspects EDS too. He gave a stack of papers with resources. He did good news, bad news of there aren't a ton of doctors that are familiar with spondyloarthritis and hypermobility because they are seemingly contradictory. He has a few partners in other states that do so it sounds like he's got resources of colleagues if I have more issues.
It's felt like trudging through mud going through life and now it feels so fast. It feels like it's a relay of all the doctors getting on the same page and it's scary because it makes it real.
I don't want people to feel sorry for me, I want to feel understood.
I have so much more to say but I needed to get it off my chest.
I'm tired. I have a toddler and I've been bedbound the last few weeks trying to recover from repeated partial dislocation of my right hip. He's watching so much tv and I'm usually so much more engaged with him.
Someone tell me that it gets better. Tell me that this is just an injury and most of the time I'm going to be ok and I can be active. There are creators on social media that make this look like I'm going to be in a wheelchair or held together with splints. I'm committed to PT and learning my limits but this pain is really hard right now.
I heard about Blake lively going to the wedding from Reddit. I wanted to verify this was true so I searched our homegirl. It's a choice that this is the image that popped up.
I am not sure if this is a hint or if it's random.
I am clowning until this album is released. It would be such a complement to our good vibes around this World Cup.
Tell me, does this show the same for you when you search just her name?
$20 for this beaut at an estate sale. I still haven't sat on it because the cats prefuuuur to sit here.
I might reupholster it, might not.
Estate sales online are my jam now. So many treasures and I like that I can bid up than bid down from sale price.
We shaved Ellie down from nose to tail because we are locked in an intense flea battle.
I realized that she has cavalier eyes and a poodle snout and neck. She looks ridiculous 😂 we are all ready for it to grow back in.
One guilty void:
We couldn't find our void Friday night and were panicking. Looked all through the house, checked the backyard where they hang out. We always supervise outside time, but my husband let him sneak past him. He was living his best life and casually walked back up to the back door acting like he hadn't been watching us search high and low for him.
This am, I saw him scale this tree while I was enjoying my coffee, so now I know to look up if he goes missing.
The orange guy was PISSED when we brought the two voids into the fold this Christmas. He is slowly coming around to being an uncle. Bonus orange cavapoo who thinks she's a cat.
The orange is 9-10, the dog is 2, the kittens are 9 months.
