What is your dogs job, and recommendations on crate mats

So, my Labrador has chewed through the new Kong mat. She’s a 10 month old Labrador. Everytime she is let out of the crate she goes searching for a job, and of course in lab fashion, that means licking the dining room table and chairs, prowling the countertops for scraps, even though we make sure to clean EVERYTHING before she’s free to roam. Anyway, what is your go-to when your lab is let out (if you even still crate during the day), and what crate mats do you recommend that are chew proof? Pic for lab tax :)

Grocery stores that still feel like the 90’s.

Are there any? So sick of our options. I loathe the oversized stores with the LED overhead lighting. I need a cozy timeless grocery. Not a fan of Marc’s. I have fond memories of shopping around holidays at the old apples, finast, tops, then Giant Eagle. I enjoy smaller grocery stores with good flooring, good lighting, and a good smell. Anything around the area? I was thinking Kreiger’s but it doesn’t meet the full criteria. I miss the old West Point market. I know there’s still an apple’s somewhere, but I think it’s closer to Cleveland.

Best resources for sourcing owners

Hi everyone! I'm new to business brokerage. My background is in commercial real estate (CRE), but our firm handles a small number of business-only sales each year, and I'm currently working on one.

Most of my prospecting tools and resources are CRE-focused, so I'm wondering what platforms, databases, or strategies business brokers use to find qualified buyers for niche businesses. Are there any resources you'd recommend beyond the typical CRE tools?

Context: local only sale, less than 200k.

I'd appreciate any advice or suggestions. Thanks!

Gestures, do they vary by Diocese?

I know the orans is generally not acceptable yet people do it, likely because they just don’t know. I once went to a Latin mass and I noticed people bowed when the cross was brought down the aisle in the procession and recession. Is that common? Parishioners don’t do that at our parish but I’ve been doing it now out of habit. I was also curious if after the penitential act if we are to do the sign of the cross after since we do it first before hand. Most people in our parish do not, but I’ve been doing it. I am not a cradle Catholic but a convert who came home in 2025, so I still have a lot to learn! :)

Shower time for 4 +

My 4 yr old and 6 yr old love taking showers. Problem is, they seem to take a long time. I know it’s my job to cut it when necessary, but I was curious how long you let them stay in there? Scared to see my water bill 🫣 Can’t say I blame them, I also love taking long showers but I see this as a problem in the future if we don’t give them a time limit now.

End of life bathroom symptoms?

I know this sounds silly, but truly, are there any usual end of life symptoms that started… in the bathroom? Family memeber has been end stage for a while now. I would say you can check my previous posts but I’ve hidden them, I’ve been in this community for two years now. She was removed off hospice for being stagnant. She’s under 100 lbs, bedridden, can’t speak, move, contractures, you name it. Anyway, she’s had a bout diaherra and now my family is wondering if this signals something deeper. It’s now come with possible dehydration, and a lack of wanting to chew. Now requiring soft foods only, and barely eating and drinking. She nearly choked today on a normal and small sized piece of chicken breast. I am not her caretaker, but this information was relayed to me. I don’t know. It feels strange to say that I’m not ready but also ready at the same time. I feel I’ve grieved her long ago and have been waiting patiently for the end to come. If it is approaching somehow it feels sudden again and like I’m not ready based on timing. It’s a weird place to be in.

Funeral Mass

This might be a silly question, but is there a charge to families to request or have a funeral mass? I’m inuring about the possibility of one but wanted to know if this is something our family needs to take into consideration. I have never attended one before, but I am a new Catholic, and my family memeber was a Catholic convert but remaining members on that side are cradle Catholics.

Blood or Earwax?

My dog has been yelping if I play with her ears. I noticed in one of them there was this brown looking stuff, so I took her doggy wipes and cleaned it out. It didn’t smell pleasant. She tolerated it and let me because I super gentle. She’s otherwise acting normal and hasn’t been messing with her ears at all.

Dog Ran Away - Twice!

She’s an 8 month old Labrador, and for a while we could let her outside to potty without using the leash. She would always come back with food or when we called. The day before yesterday she bolted to the neighbors two doors down. Yesterday, she crossed a side street and went to our friends house on the next block. She hasn’t had her first heat cycle yet, but both houses have dogs. She met up with one of the dogs and was playing, seemed excited when I came to pick her up. She had me so worried. She’s microchipped. We had the e-collar on too, but largely outside with more distractions she ignores it completely. I don’t know what else to do regarding solid recall. We call her randomly, reward her when she comes, and indoors she listens to our commands and the e-collar well. She rang the bell to potty yesterday and as soon as we opened the door she ran fast as lightning 😂 she’s driving me crazy.

Chat GPT Prompts

I’ve been looking through my sales crammer and asking chat to quiz me on the most missed questions both state and national (I am in Ohio). Not going to lie, this feels too easy which means something seems off. I need better prompts. I’m sticking to 5-10 question quizzes per section and consistently getting them right, but it doesn’t feel hard enough. Maybe the structure of the wording isn’t difficult enough to mimic the real thing, I’m not sure. My exam is in two days. I’m studying now and cramming. Any other (free) suggestions?

Recall Training

Give me your tips! We’ve had 2 long lines, she broke the first one, ate the second 🤦‍♀️ our yard isn’t fully fenced and if she’s not getting enough exercise she will exercise herself and run 😬 8 months field line lab. Would looove to take her somewhere and have her run but our parks are 8 ft max leash and must be leashed at all times. Our dog park is gross and full of untrained muts (probably unvaccinated too). Help!

Scheduled!

Did anyone take it without purchasing additional study materials? Can I rely on my books and YouTube and ChatGPT? I was getting decent scores on practice tests consistently over 80%.

7 month old Labrador

Hi,

My 7 month old is crated at night and it’s usually fine. She’s great about going in, she’s quiet for the most part. Problem is, middle of the night she starts scratching the bottom of her crate. She’s currently sleeping without a pad because she just eats those and tears them up. She gets plenty of enrichment, outside time, walks, play, food, treats, and training. I’m not sure if this is a lab thing, or maybe she’s itchy, or having a nightmare, but she doesn’t make any vocalization while doing it. She potty’s right before bed and right when we wake. She’s probably only crated at night for about 6-8 hours. Any advice? Thanks!

Rate of passing first try

What is the success rate? I see a lot of people on here who don’t pass the first, or even second time. I’ve been getting 80-95 on practice tests. I just fear the wording is tricky and I have a couple weak areas. I’m also a poor test taker. I do however have experience in CRE for several years, which I am hoping helps. Going to use ChatGPT and Compucram anyway. Ohio for reference.

What do you love most about your job?

This is something that’s taken me a long time to figure out. In my previous roles I was very focused on the upward mobility and “climbing the ladder”, which lead me to switching jobs in search of more pay, but also kept me motivated. I’ve worked in commercial real estate for a long time. My last role I thought it was the hybrid model and flexibility and short commute, but eventually those things started to feel heavy instead, when I felt I was under valued and under appreciated. Switching again and hoping this allows me more freedom, as I will be 1099. So for those of you who choose to stay, what keeps you going? What’s your motivating factors, or why do you love your job?

How to teach puppy proper socialization

For context, she's a 7 month old lab and she doesn't seem reactive on walks. Trouble is, someone gives her attention, and she jumps all over them and ignores my cues. Second, when we crate her at home and someone comes over or even knocks on the door and we talk with them, she won't stop barking. I don't know how to teach her to ignore people. She could care less about other dogs, but she still hates our cat lol.

Going back to work after being a SAHM

I stayed home while pregnant since 2019 since I was laid off from my job. I then had two more children and went back to an entry level position in 2024 but quit in 2025. My new position will be 1099, so income will not be consistent but my freedom is more valuable. What influenced your choice to go back to work. How long did it take you?

Questions in Liturgy

Why do sometimes we sing the our father, and sometimes we say it. I notice depending on who our priest is at the mass we attend (we have two), sometimes we do the Kyrie and sometimes we do Confiteor. We also use the breaking bread missal, which I assumed all parishes use, but that's not the case. I'm no longer a neophyte, but still a new catholic, just over a year. Thanks, fathers!
