Looking for a space or resources for my partner with aggressive brain cancer (Toronto)

Hi everyone,

I'm reaching out because I'm not sure where else to turn.

I'm 24F, and my partner (23M) was first diagnosed with Stage 1 brain cancer in October. He went through chemotherapy, and he had brain surgery in January 2026.

We've recently learned that the cancer has progressed. It's now Stage 2, metastatic. We're still trying to process everything and figure out what the next steps will be, but it's likely he'll need chemotherapy and/or radiation again.

Right now, he's going through an incredibly difficult time emotionally. He doesn't want to stay with his family at the moment (he's fighting with them de to him being sick and even if he told them he was sick they probably wouldn't help financially), and due to my current rental situation, I'm unfortunately not allowed to have him move in with me. As a result, he's been living out of his car, which is heartbreaking knowing what he's may soon have to endure medically.

I'm posting here in the hope that someone might know of:

  • A room for rent or a private space where he could recover safely and comfortably.
  • Organizations, charities, housing programs, or patient support services in Toronto that help people with cancer who are facing housing insecurity.
  • Any resources that could help us navigate this situation.

I'm carrying a lot emotionally right now, and I'm just trying to do everything I can to make sure he has somewhere safe to stay while he focuses on his treatment.

If you have any leads, advice, or resources, I would be incredibly grateful. Even if you can't help directly, please keep the comments kind. This has been one of the hardest periods of our lives, and we're simply looking for support.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Edit

I’m not a health anything I said the cancer was aggressive because it’s come back larger after he had surgery so you would assume it’s something hard to get rid of

I guess the right word would have been progressed from stage 1 to stage 2 after 6 months post op

Thank you to anyone that even read my post and sent positive messages

Opening my third eye after 6 years

Title: Opening my third eye after 6 years, but I also have a mental health condition. Looking for advice from experienced practitioners.

Hi everyone,

For the past six years, I’ve been on a spiritual journey, and I feel like I’m approaching what I believe is the opening of my third eye.

At the same time, I’ve recently confirmed that I have some underlying mental health issues. Because of that, I’m aware that if I experience anything unusual, it could look like a mental health episode. My current belief is that it may not be entirely one or the other, but I also recognize how important it is not to assume every experience is spiritual.

If things intensify around September, I fully plan to seek professional mental health support. I’m not looking to replace medical care with spirituality.

What I’m hoping for is to privately connect with someone who has significant experience with third-eye or kundalini-related practices and who approaches these experiences responsibly.

I’d appreciate practical tips on staying grounded, distinguishing spiritual practices from experiences that may need clinical attention, and how to navigate this safely alongside professional care.

If you’ve been through something similar and are comfortable chatting privately, I’d really appreciate hearing from you.

Please be respectful I’m genuinely trying to approach both my mental health and my spiritual beliefs with care and responsibility.

Thank you.

GDCPH Program Sept. 2026

Hi everyone,

I was recently applied for McMaster University's Graduate Diploma in Public Health and Communities Program. The program is part-time and costs almost $4,000. Unfortunately, we've been informed that the GDCPH program is not eligible for OSAP or other Canadian provincial student funding.

I was wondering if anyone knows of any bursaries, scholarships, grants, or other financial aid opportunities that I might qualify for. I'm a first-generation immigrant and a member of a racialized minority community, so I'm hoping there may be funding options available for students from underrepresented backgrounds.

If you've been in a similar situation or have any recommendations on where to look, I would really appreciate your advice. Thank you!

July 1st

Hey everyone,

I’m a 24-year-old female looking for a small bachelor or studio apartment in the GTA. I’m not looking for anything fancy—just a decent space with:

Private bathroom
Fridge and stove
Safe area

Maximum budget of $1,200/month

I’m open to smaller units, basement apartments, older buildings, or bachelor apartments as long as they’re clean and in good condition.

Preferred areas include North York, Scarborough, Etobicoke, York Region, or other GTA locations with reasonable transit access, but I’m open to suggestions.

If anyone knows of buildings, property management companies, or current listings that fit this budget, I’d really appreciate the help.

Thanks in advance!

Tenant and landlord Board

I moved into my apartment in September, and I started notifying my landlord about mold issues back in October. I followed up again in February because the problem was still there, but nothing was properly resolved.

I’m moving out by Monday and now I’m trying to get an emergency mold inspection/testing done today. I’m frustrated because I documented the issue for months and feel like my concerns were ignored.

Has anyone in Toronto dealt with this before? Is it worth filing with the Landlord and Tenant Board even after moving out? What evidence should I gather before I leave (photos, messages, inspection reports, etc.)?

Any advice would really help right now.

Update
I basically tried to get 311 or Public Health involved because I am concerned about the mold in the unit.

As a woman living with a group of men, including a male landlord, I fear for my safety and feel that I have very little support in this situation. Up until now, the conversations about the mold were only verbal and mainly between my partner and the landlord, so I do not have sufficient written evidence showing that the landlord was made aware of the issue.

The Public Health representative explained that without proof the landlord knew about the mold, there is very little they can do at this time.

I also provided the landlord with an N11 to sign because I believed it was the best course of action after giving 30 days’ notice to move out instead of the required 60 days.

It doesn’t help that I’m moving out June 1st.
